Hello,
About a week ago, I adopted a new puppy (she's a little less than a year old). Like my other dog Rodney, she is a pit bull mix with a brindle coat. I named her Mademoiselle Caroline Beatrice Walsh (Carol for short), wife of Professor Rodney Charles Walsh (Rod for short). Caroline and Rodney already love each other very much:
That is all.
New album in January, pre-order in December.

Current mood: adventurous
Since I'm finally home for a bit and not too busy, I've decided to start playing World of Warcraft again, but only casually (yes, there is such thing). Since I mostly played Horde back when I played a few years ago, I rolled a Human Mage (a female, of course) for my new starting character. The server is Maelstrom (Role-playing, PVP) and my character's name is Amaelia, Make a character on that server and let's hang out!
To be forewarned, even though most people in WOW don't really care to obey the role-playing server etiquette, I'm in a guild that's pretty serious about it, so if you're ever logged in while I am, I'm not Daniel Hunter, I'm Amaelia Von Abendroth.
Also, I might start playing more with a dwarf named Trunden, also in the Maelstrom realm.
With utmost sincerity, Daniel

Hello all,
Halloween is about a week away, so I figured it's time to post this video of Megan and I carving pumpkins.
I'm also debuting the outro of my upcoming Analog Rebellion full length Ancient Electrons. The song is called "An Onest Thank You". It's kind of a revisited version of the outro and title track of the record Texas. The chords are similar, but the instrumentation and lyrics are completely different. Also, Travis Bryant ( Terminal, Alive In Wild Paint) is singing the backup vocals.
You might remember these lyrics. I posted them a while back:
An Onest Thank You (Credits & Genres)
It's time to leave Texas I can honestly say it's true Goodbye sad state, hello future tunes
Say hi to nerd punk, to math grunge, to cubicle rock Goodbye bad sounds, hello future blues
Elevator metal and airport punk 5 star hip hop at gourmet restaurants
Classical bar tunes, and dance club folk songs too
Stadium lo-fi and church reggae Hippie electro and Catholic new wave
Your head might explode, but that's the point, I'd say
Cause we are entitled to everything at once Patience is a virtue, but we're a generation of schmucks
We embody here and now and that might be a problem somehow Better toss out your maps, 'cause Texas will secede this year
Enjoy!! Dan

Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I've really posted anything here, and I apologize for that. I just finished a short tour with Lydia and All the Day Holiday that was amazing. It was one of the first tours where I've felt almost completely carefree and happy. (And funnily enough, it's one of the smallest 'tour crew' sizes I've ever gone on the road with: just 2 other people and myself, with just me and my drummer splitting all of the driving. Compare that to several years ago when I was touring with 8 or more people at times and I was constantly miserable on the road...)
Anyway, now I'm home from tour, and I've spent the last 48 hours carving pumpkins and making Halloween treats with my girlfriend. Yes, it's a little early for all of that Halloween stuff, but it seemed like a good way to relax and come down after tour.
As most of you know, I will be releasing TWO new albums before the end of the year:
One of the albums is a b-sides album that will have 20-30 previously unreleased PlayRadioPlay! songs. That album will be entitled: " Besides, Nothing (B-Sides and Rarities, 2003-2009)" and will be released under the familiar name PlayRadioPlay!.
The second album will be a 12 song full length album with all brand new material, much of which I have already started performing live. Here's the part where some of you will get mad at me: Unlike the b-sides album, the new full length will not be released under the name PlayRadioPlay!.
As some of you have heard (most likely from this Dallas Observer article): I have made the decision to begin making music under a new name: Analog Rebellion.
I have made this decision for many reasons, and it's taken me months to decide exactly how to share my thought process with you. In late 2004, not long after my 15th birthday, I started this project under the name PlayRadioPlay!. I began recording and releasing crappy demos under that name, and I never looked back. It always seemed to be a good fit for the music I was creating.
However, a lot has changed. Now, I am 20 years old. I have been touring the country on and off for over 3 years, and, as expected between the ages of 15 and 20, I have changed significantly as a person. I'm sure you have too. Think about what you were doing 5 years ago. What music were you listening to? What were your hobbies? Who were your friends? I'm sure a lot is different, because with 'youngins' like us, it would be strange for someone to not change significantly in such a large span of time (at least relative to the time you, assuming you're around my age, or I have been alive).
Artistically, I have come to the point where I no longer feel that the name PlayRadioPlay! represents the music I create. When people hear the name PlayRadioPlay!, they imagine a certain kind of person/music. That perceived image might have been accurate 3 years ago, but I don't believe that it is today.
A lot of people have asked me about my "name and style change". I'm not changing musical styles alongside the name. The style has been constantly evolving ever since the day I started making music, and it will continue to do so until the day I stop. The music would be evolving and changing even if the name stayed the same. That's simply the nature of art and music (at least mine). I am different today than I was 5 years ago, so my music reflects that.
I am not "quitting" or "breaking up" PlayRadioPlay. Analog Rebellion is the same project/group/band (whatever you want to call it) as PRP, just the name is different. I still plan on playing old PRP songs at shows, I'll still sell PRP music, and everything I've done under the name PRP will remain the way it was. I have no intention of destroying what I have created and turned PRP into.
Another reason I am doing this is to free myself, in a way. For a long time I made business decisions from the viewpoint of "What is best for my career?". That viewpoint is fucked. It creates stale artists. It causes musicians to fear the risky and unknown. I don't want to create music and make artistic decisions inside of the "What is best for my career?" cage. I want to express myself fully and in a manner of which I choose, even when it might not make me the most money or win me the most fans.
With all of that being said, I hope you still support me and the music I create regardless of what name I choose to go by, because the name will never have an effect on the music. In the end, it's just a name. And for now, that name will be Analog Rebellion.
Thanks so much for your support. More developments will be coming soon, including new merch, finalized release dates, etc.

I'm not the first person to notice this, but Jay Z's new album art is strikingly similar to the Secret Machines' album art from their 2004 release Now Here Is Nowhere.
I know a lot of you are thinking "Jay Z has never heard of the Secret Machines". However, Now Here Is Nowhere was released on a major label, Warner Bros, not some obscure indie label.
Anyway, just some food for thought. Jay Z is a talented dude. If Flo Rida or Soulja Boy did this, then I'd be much more angry.

P.S. Now Here Is Nowhere is an incredible album, one of my favorites of all time.

Hello again!
Tuesday of this week, I started working on a little tune for a friend of mine, and also to test out the new version of Logic Studio's guitar modeling. I ended up spending more time on the song than I had initially planned, probably because Logic's new guitar amps are darn good, especially for demoing songs quickly. The next day, I turned on the news and heard about a story that I'm sure you're all aware of.
The story was of a woman named Jaycee Lee Dugard that was kidnapped 18 years ago at age 11 and locked up in a sound proof shed for 18 years. She was forced to have 2 children with kidnapper Philip Garrido, the first of which when she was 14 years old.
Pretty fucked up.
Anyway, the darker mood of the song seemed to invite itself to being about the psycho Philip Garrido and his despicable behavior, so I recorded vocals on the track and now I'm releasing it to all of you. It's technically still a demo, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to include it on the new album that's coming out in October.
Stream AND download the song exclusively on AbsolutePunk.net, here:
http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=1294972
Let me know what you think.
Concerning Philip Garrido
There is fear in your heart
Cause you are scared about what you're about to start
And there is something inside your fucked up head
But you won't care until you're dead
Oh, who's your hero?
One less that you know
Everyone needs a hero, man
Why flaunt what you know?
Everyone knows about your troubles!
Everyone knows about your troubles, old man!
Everyone knows about your troubles!
Everyone knows about the trouble in your shed!
And there ain't hope in your soul
You won't ever be filled, you are hollow
And there is something inside your fucked up brain
You're a little bit more than insane
Oh who's this asshole?
One less that you know
Everyone needs a hero, man
Why flaunt what you know?
Oh who's your hero?
One less that you know
Everyone needs a hero, man
Why flaunt what you know?
Daniel
P.S. A few people have asked me if they can still make donations to be an Executive Producer on the new album. The answer is YES. I'm still accepting PayPal donations as well as cash donations.

Current mood: hopeful
Exactly 2 weeks ago I premiered the album version of "A Real Clever Trick Fur a Bear" on AbsolutePunk.net. This week, I'm debuting a new song from the upcoming album here on my MySpace profile.
The new song is called "In the Style of a Tight Rope Walker". It's not as different from my older style compared to some of the other new tracks that have been released, but it's still more mature than most of Texas and The Frequency EP. I actually mentioned that I was working on this song a while back, stating that it was inspired by the film "Man On Wire".
You can download this new song for FREE at the link below:
http://www.mediafire.com/?5oncmnudykm (copy and paste since MySpace is lame)
Here are the lyrics:
In the Style of a Tight Rope Walker
You took my hand from the smoking gun and held me like a son.
In light of all I said I'd do, you placed me in a cell.
I'd do the same if I were you.
Honest as a priest.
I held my face up to the sky in the style of a tight rope walker.
I spread my arms and tried to glide in honor of a failed semester.
I picked my life up piece by piece in the style of an awful metaphor.
I took a step to silence you, what else could you possibly do?
I held my face up to the sky, I practice all my silly lies.
I hope you like it! Please spread this to your friends and acquaintances. Also, I've uploaded "A Real Clever Trick Fur a Bear" to my MySpace profile as well, so please add both of these new songs to your profile player!

Hello everyone,
A song from my new full length album, that is now set to be released in October, is streaming on AbsolutePunk.net! The song is called "A Real Clever Trick Fur a Bear". To hear the song, go here:
Check it out and let me know what you think!
Here are the lyrics:
A Real Clever Trick Fur a Bear
Second glance, I am a catalyst Don't miss your chance Personify weakness, multiply
The conduit speaks out on our enemies While the king maker weeps He personifies weakness, multiplied
A real clever trick for a bear We all saw you standing there I am leaving my home town Once again for another year
Another ghost, another avenue The host with the most Speaking on travesties with his pants down
A real clever advert for beer Two more times in a single year I am singing my heart out One more time for the home town crowd
That's a real clever trick for a bear We all saw you standing there I am leaving my home town Once again for another year

Hello again!
Executive Producer donations have been running for about 48 hours now, and it's going very well. I've had a few questions and requests since starting this whole thing, so I'm here to answer those.
1. Do I need a PayPal account? Can I send you cash? You don't need a PayPal account if you use a credit card. If you don't have a credit card, you can send cash to:
DH Entertainment LLC P.O. Box 845 Aledo, TX 76008
Make sure to include your name!
2. Can I put a nickname, name of a business, website, charity, etc.? As long as it isn't excessively long, profane, or offensive, you can include pretty much whatever you want. If you want to include a website for a charity or t-shirt company instead of (not in addition to, there's not a lot of room) your name, that's fine.
3. Can I donate a lot of money (> $100) and have my name at the top? I've had a few people ask about this. And I've decided that if you would like to donate a larger sum to get your name at the top, that I will allow that. Be aware that if several (3 or 4, probably) people give these larger donations, they will be sorted in order of amount, then sorted alphabetically.
4. You're an asshole, the economy is in the shitter, and you're asking for money?!? Yes, someone actually did say this to me. If you are not able to afford making this donation, then don't do it.
5. What's the deal? Are you broke? No, I'm not doing this because I'm completely broke. I'm doing this because when it comes down to deciding how much money I'll be able to spend on marketing and how many physical copies I'll be able to press, the amount of money in my bank account is a deciding factor. I'm also doing this simply because it's a cool idea that I would take part in if one of my favorite bands did it.
6. Wait, so there will be physical copies of the b-sides album and the full length? Yes. There will be physical copies printed of both the b-sides album and the new full length. The number I print is yet to be determined. I'll probably print a very limited number of the b-side album, and a more moderate number of the full length.
7. I saw you tweet about the number of songs on the b-side album. Is it going to be a double disc? Possibly. Another issue I'm taking into account when looking at the amount of funds I have available is the number of songs I can include on the b-sides album. Double disc albums cost more to print!
8. Do you love me? Are you playin' those love games a-whid meh?

Current mood: excited
Hello everyone!
The week I've been up to a lot. Writing some new tunes, recording new demos, working on the album, partying it up with Professor Rodney C. Walsh, watching the Texas Rangers achieve their second best record in history, and relaxing after a successful tour with The Secret Handshake.
I've been trying to think of ways to get you, the wonderful fans, involved in the creation of my upcoming album in unique ways. Yeah, I could release an album for free, or I could do a pay-what-you-want type thing, but neither of those things are the type of unique connection I'm looking for (although I'm not dismissing the possibility of doing either of those).
Luckily, I've come up with several ideas to get you involved with the new record. (No, I'm not about to ask you to spam some crappy promo artwork on everyone's MySpace.) The first way to be involved in the creation of my new record is very simple:
How would you like to see your name in the credits of my upcoming album as "Executive Producer"?
Yes, I'm talking about the printed (and digital) booklet, right next to the lyrics, the thank-yous, and all of that other magical stuff. For as long my music exists, your name will be etched into the credits as "Executive Producer" (since you are helping fund the album). Think of it like a time capsule, or some shiny piece of metal that's about to get blasted to Mars, or a monument, only cooler.
All I'm asking is that you help me pay for the creation of my new record. Making music isn't free. Trent Reznor has plenty of funds in his bank account, so he can spend 6 months recording an album at any studio, then release it for free, and end up paying the whole thing off by making a single appearance at a big festival or tour. Trent Reznor and Radiohead have millions of fans (as well as millions of dollars) to do that kind of stuff.
I don't have it that easy. In order to create quality material for the public, I have to spend some money that I don't necessarily have overflowing from my bank account. I obviously don't spend nearly as much money as Trent or Thom, but even the relatively small budget I have for my new album is a big chunk of change to the every day artist.
So, if you're willing to donate towards the creation of my new, full-length album ($10 or more), I'm willing to forever inscribe your name in the credits of the album (both physical and digital copies). Everyone that opens up the album's booklet will see your name and know that you made the music they're hearing possible.
There's no limit to how many people can get their name printed in my album. Whether it's 50 or 5,000, it's completely up to you guys!
(To be completely honest, and without tooting my own horn too much, I think this is an awesome idea. If one of my favorite bands offered this kind of opportunity, I would jump at it in a second. Hopefully you feel the same way!)
To get your name in my album credits:
Step 2: Click "Donate".
Step 3: Enter donation amount, then click "Update Total" ($10 or more to get your name in the credits)
Step 4: Log in to PayPal.
Step 5: Click "Name to be in Album Credits" to expand field.
Step 6: Enter the name you want to be in my album credits.
Step 7: Click "Donate" and you're done!
You don't need a PayPal account! Just a credit card, which can be used without signing up for PayPal.

Hello everyone!
I just got home from a wonderful tour with The Secret Handshake and Love You Long Time, and I'm continuing work on the new, full-length album.
In addition to releasing a full-length with 100% new material, I will also be releasing a PlayRadioPlay! B-Sides album at the same time. The B-Sides album will include songs ranging from 2003-2009, some of them will be familiar to you, and some of them have never, ever left the comforts of my own hard drive.
Obvious candidates for inclusion are Decipher Reflections From Reality, Bound To Get Caught, We've Been Searching The Sky For Answers, Jello, and other past releases that didn't find their way onto The Frequency EP or Texas. All of the PRP "classics", such as the aforementioned songs, will be released in their original, unaltered form.
What other songs should I include? How many songs would you like to see? I'm seeking your input since this release is purely for you.
Leave your ideas as comments in this blog! More details to come soon!

Current mood: anxious
Hello everyone,
I'm leaving for tour tomorrow morning, but I had the urge to record a quick acoustic cover of one of my favorite songs: "San Bernardino" by The Mountain Goats. John Darnielle is an artist I aspire to be like.
The original is incredible, and I encourage all of you to go buy the original before listening to my version so you can tell exactly how much I butchered it (the instrumentation in the original is fantastic). It's track 2 on the album Heretic Pride.
You can download the MP3 version of my cover here:
(Apologies for the 14 seconds of silence on the beginning)
Here are the lyrics:
San Bernardino
We got in your car and we hit the highway
Eastern sun was rising over the mountains
Yellow and blood red bits
Like a kaleidoscope
And flaming swords may guard the garden of Eden
But we consulted maps from earlier days
Dead languages on our tongues
Holding on to our last hope
And the day was bright and fine
And the highway sign said, “San Bernadino welcomes you”’
I checked us into our hotel and filled the bathtub
And you got in the warm, warm water
I pulled petals from my pocket
I loved you so much just then
And it was hard, but you were brave, you are splendid
And we will never be alone in this world
No matter what they say
We’re gonna be okay
We were safe inside
And our new son cried, “San Bernadino welcomes you”

Current mood: sick
Hello all!
I'm going to Los Angeles tomorrow to mix the new album. Master engineer Joe Wohlmuth and I will be mixing it ourselves at two different studios over the span of 8 days. It probably won't be 100% completed in that time, but the bulk of the most important work should get finished. Hopefully the fact that I might be coming down with the flu (I really, really hope not) won't mess anything up. I'm getting on that damn plane tomorrow even if I have to wear a Swine Flu mask!!
Pictures and more info soon. Get excited!
