Press Release                                                                      Friday, June 12, 2009

It comes with deep sadness that The Stiff Wires announce the un-timely departure of Josh McQuaid from the band.

Due to philosophical and artistic difference Josh has decided that he would like to pursue a different avenue for his music and art. Although the remaining members of The Stiff Wires will miss him, we completely understand his need to follow his own direction and to do it on his own terms.

Nevertheless this is simply a new beginning for The Stiff Wires and we do plan on continuing as a four piece for the duration of our schedule and for the immediate future. The band still has three very talented song writers and all the front guys have excellent vocal abilities. Therefore it will make the sting of this current development a little easier to handle, and we think the fans will actually enjoy and embrace the new vocal techniques and the direction of our sound.

As you may or may not have been aware in the past several months The Stiff Wires have been tweaking their sound and attempting to enhance our vocals to a higher quality level than in the past. This has put great demands on the band members who sing, and has pushed them to make certain choices about their personal lives as well.

Add in our new no nonsense manager Joe Fleming and it has become a shock to all of our systems and a lesson in what it will really take for us to achieve that step to the next level. However we think it is exactly the right thing to do! So look for a better quality Stiff Wires in the near future, with a new attitude, new direction, and a focus never before seen from this band.

In closing the band would like to wish Josh all the best in his new ventures whatever they may be and as our good friend we wish him nothing but success, happiness, and peace as he moves forward in life.

Sincerely,
The Stiff Wires

First of all The Stiff Wires would like to congratulate all the people who received awards last night at the 7th Annual London Music Awards. Additionally we would like to congratulate the band 63 Munroe for their award in the Best Punk Band category as those are the guys that paved the way in London and beyond for bands like ours to exist and play. We were deeply honoured to just be nominated with such a great band of musicians and peers. Secondly we would like to thank all of our fans who came out and supported our performance and for all of those people who didn’t ditch out after their awards were complete. Furthermore we would like to thank The Carnies, Saveria, MC Moore, Sadia Mokri, Justin Plet, and The lovely Genevieve Fisher for their great performances and raising the bar for us. More importantly we would also like to thank and acknowledge Brian Vollmer and the Canadian Rock Legends Helix for throwing their great name and support behind this extraordinary event. It is people like Mr. Vollmer and his band that give rock and roll a good name. We would hope that as we navigate through this industry of rock and roll that we could meet and be connected to superior people like him and his band who have remained completely grounded even after all of their great success and obvious superior performing and musical skills. We as a band were deeply touched and humbled by such a great group of human beings. Many people and performers out there could take a lesson or two from these gentlemen about honour and dignity. Thank you Helix, you just made 4 fans for life! Finally we would like to thank Scene Magazine and Mr. Bret Downe for organizing and putting on a great night! Consider The Stiff Wires supporters and contributors of these London Music Awards so long as we have a career in music, and so long as you want us!

Current mood:Zen

So the comments are coming. We're at least glad the you plural meaning 2 noticed. No one else seemed to care, or they're all over at face book where bands don't really have control to organize and maintain a site like here. Nevertheless time rolls on and in that time all things must change and yet be connected. Zen? NOT! Well folks it's actually simple. The Stiff Wires, that's us, have decided that we want to perform music as our day job, and no longer on a part time basis. Holy Shit! Announcement another irrelevant punk band wants to make money and sell cloths! Nope that's not it. However we can't control your thoughts.

Now to the point. As we attempt to take this journey, we realized that we have to work like 100 times harder than we did. Wake our asses up a hell of a lot earlier than we did. We didn't hire a manager, as much as we hired a pissed off drill
Sargent that ain't puttin' up with our shit! Oh ya' and he's a hell of a lot bigger than any of us, and we are betting meaner too. However that is exactly what we needed. Reality Check! Nothing like the big dude telling you that right now you suck. Hey he still took the job. Nevertheless our point is that we change, our web sites change, you change and if you don't, you usually find yourself left behind.

The Stiff Wires are staying committed as a band to continue to compose and record our songs with the same vigour and desire, maybe more. We are committed to our unique sound and style as we really like it! So as far as the music goes you can expect more of the same and probably a little better. Over the next days, weeks, months and years you will see lots of web site, myspace and whatever space we are on changes and themes. You can now find us on
twitter. Yes... Yes we did. You will also see that our Stiff Wires Dot Com has a couple of changes, but plans to develop it right now are on hold. We have also joined a site our manager just found called OurStage.com. We might suggest to our friends in other bands that this might be something you should check out as well.

So it might look a little slicker and hopefully not "metro" and it may change frequently for a bit till we find what fits us but The Stiff Wires remain The Stiff Wires and we have no plans to change that!

Oh ya! We almost forgot. The Stiff Wires are in fact trying to actively get on the Much Music show called Dis/Band to see if we can't impress the music panel. For those of you who dislike us this would be a chance to see if we crash and burn under the pressure. For those of you who tolerate us this is a chance to get us out of town for a while. Basically we want your help, and when I say help I mean flood thier e-mail with letters off request for The Stiff Wires to get on Dis/Band. Oh what's this? Oh look we just happen to have that e-mail address for you. Funny how things work out. but if you need to read it then here bands@muchmusic.com. Make sure you let them know they need to put us on that show so we can possibly help out both groups of you people! All kidding aside your support is appreciated! Also we're not ashamed to ask for your help. HELP! Yep still PUNK!

Thanks

The Stiff Wires are making their move. Currently the band is finishing what will be their last shows in and around the London Ontario area for some time to come. We will be taking only a few select bookings in the area for the near future as we head into our Eastern Canada Tour along with our friends in Corporation.

After this tour we will be heading throughout other parts of Ontario expanding out working relationships with the many other communities in this vast province. The band is also regrouping and re-energizing our sound with some wicked new songs in our

catalogue. Look for some serious changes over the next coming months as The Stiff Wires focus on our image and direction with a new invigorating attitude and philosophy!

The Stiff Wires are ready to bust out and take our music and performances to the next level. Therefore come and check us out at the following sites to see new official Stiff Wire Images, Electronic Press Kits and other general information about the band, our upcoming shows, and our upcoming Mission Statement and commitment to providing great music and great performances to all of those who have supported us from the start and those new fans we hope to generate with our new tunes and upcoming release (date yet to be announced).

Also look for us and our new Manager Joe (Stiff Daddy) Fleming as he whips our ass, and attidudes into shape for our step to the next level in the music business. Help he scares us, please call the authorities we're afraid, very afraid!

Thanks
