hey friends,
whilst it seems i may disappear for large tracts of time doing something close to nothing, i've actually been busy beavering away in the studio coming up with new sounds and ideas. the good news for those hungry to hear, is that it is getting close to the time where all is revealed. about a year ago i reconnected with my old sparring partner andy rantzen who was the other half of itch-e and scratch-e (i'm scratch-e by the way). we have been making a new album which is sounding fucken awesome if you ask me (but of course i would say that). it's coming out real soon, and you may have heard by now we are playing the boiler room at the big day out........ yay! anyways, stay tuned to www.myspace.com/itcheandscratcheband for updates'n'stuff!
love and hugs

hey peeps

here is part 2 of the 'beautiful' film score. these are my other fave tracks that i would like to share with you.

it's all a little dark with these tracks but i'm sure some of you will like that part the most!

___

'Beautiful Darkness' The Scare feat. Paul Mac

This was used for the closing titles. I got The Scare to do a fucked up rendition of the theme with me joining them on keys. Too much fun. Love these guys.

___

The Opera

The most melodramatic part where it all goes pearshaped. Full dramatic opera baby!

___

You Don't Have the Balls (or do you?)

The first real part of the film that will scare you! I love this one - Got the string section to bend with my moods. Good, good times.

___

enjoy - let me know what ya think.

love ya

Hey Peeps,

I've just finished my first movie score which I am super proud of, so I wanted to share a bit of it to those that are interested. I don't think I'll release it but I'm putting my fave bits
up on my myspace player for you to listen to.

"Beautiful" is a low budget aussie movie portraying the darker side of suburbia. It's in cinemas now so be sure to check it out.

Today I've put these tracks up:

1.Beautiful. This is the opening title sequence. It's kind of a fractured
fucked up fairytale piece that came to me as I was riding my motorbike.

2. The Backyard of Earthy Delights. This is for when one of the characters Danny goes wandering through the neighbours garden looking for evidence of nastiness.

3. On A Mission. Danny goes to confront the killer - a mash of string and electronics.

4. Sherrie's Lament - This piece is for when Sherrie goes to have an abortion. The pictures moved me so much I wrote possibly the saddest peice of music I've ever written. When I first played this to the producer and director they were both crying. I used the opportunity to ask for more budget so I could have real strings and they ended upsaying yes. yaaaaaaay!

So that's it for now, stay posted and I'll chuck up some more music from the film soon.

Feel free to write and tell me what you think.

I hope you enjoy it.

Check it out right here on my myspace!

stay happy
mac!

Hey peeps,

From time to time i get some bizarre requests for production stuff, but this latest one is worth sharing.

Vivacity asked me to remix "Greensleeves" (the classic Mr Whippy van theme) for a promotion of outdoor events they've been doing.

At first i thought it was a kind of a strange idea, but when I did it, I ended up loving it! Everyone that's heard it is into it too.

Anyway, they made a short, cool clip for it which is now up on youtube.
Check it out here: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwbCnPXQ8IY

Also i've added some photos of me and DJ Seymour Butz doing our thing around town and most recently at the Sydney Big Day Out in the Silent Disco (Ooh and there's one with this hot chick I met too).

More soon, love ya.

cheers
mac!

Paul Mac has written the music for a new show that's just about to open in good ol' Sydney town! Frank Woodley one half of much loved duo, Lano and Woodley stars in POSSESSED. The show has been described as 'a wildly physical feast of comic imagination' a love story set in a basement featuring all original music by Paul Mac.

The show opens at the Sydney Opera House on June 10 and tickets are available from Sydneyoperahouse.com or Ticketek.

Paul Mac has been as busy as ever of late with POSSESSED, writing the title music for Australian film "Hey Hey It's Esther Blueburger" and mixing Mr G's radio and club smash "Naughty Girl", he is also the host for BigPond Music's concert series, Monday Night Live.

so, it's been some time since the last "tales of the tourbus". it's over, i survived, had fun meeting a bunch of people in places i vaguely remember, smoke twice as much as i did before i left, drink three times as much as well, but fuck it..whatever!
i've been having fun locking myself inside the panic room with a bunch of "jobs" to explore.
i've wanted to try some different things for different situations instead of doing just straight up albums. these include more banging electronic abstractions with my mate Goodwill, music for frank woodley's comedy show "possessed", a film score, a Faker remix, and producing the music for Mr G's logie performance.
if you are in sydney soon you got to check out frank's show. mental and whymsical (hmmm, how do you spell that?!?)
don't know if that music will ever see the light of day, but i hope it does. i'm pretty proud of it.
the film score has been a trip. long hours, inspired moments, dead ends, sulking, and rejuvenation... or is that redemption? fucking loving it. we are about to mix in 5.1 which is pretty exciting, but then it won't be heard til the end of the year maybe. i dunno.
anyways, it's been a full on time jumping straight off tour into all of this, so when i hand in the film i'm gonna hop on the bike, fuck off for a few weeks and come back and start my next album i reckon.
i want to write something that i've never heard before. that's the plan anyway.
hope you are happy!
love
mac!

The soundtrack to the new Australian movie Hey Hey It’s Esther Blueburger is in store now, with the film starring Keisha Castle-Hughes and Toni Collette, opening nationally on March 20.

Paul Mac’s lead track "The Only One" sits rather nicely alongside a host of other cool Australian artists including label mate Missy Higgins with her track "The Wrong Girl".

"The Only One" was written by Paul Mac specifically for the film, and features stunning vocals from Sydney songstress Bertie Blackman and the Sydney Children’s Choir.

Have you checked out the ’making of’ the song and the video clip here on Paul’s MySpace page yet?
