Our friend Derek asked us a few months ago if we’d headline his annual free Halloween show in Lansdale. At first we declined due to everyone’s hectic schedules and the fact that, well…we aren’t a band anyone. But after everyone getting to talk with one another we decided that it would be a good idea; if only to get to spend some time together again.

We’ve always planned on playing an “official” last show, as we never really had one. However, this won’t be our last show, but rather our second to last.
Once we got together in person to talk about the idea of playing this show we decided that it would be fun to play one last time to celebrate the release of our split LP with Engineer this winter. An exact date for that show hasn’t been set yet but we can say that it will be in Lansdale and be all ages (unfortunately this Halloween show is 21+).

We’ll be playing songs from all of our records at this show. Hopefully we’ll see you there.

We're sad to announce today that the band is coming to an end. No bad blood or anything of that nature was involved in this decision; it's simply time for us to move on. We'd like to thank everyone who was kind enough to support us through this amazing six year run. The last two songs we wrote as a band will be available early next year via a split 12" with Rosetta on Relapse Records. We'll also be playing one final show in our hometown of Lansdale, PA. Details for that should follow shortly. Thanks again,

With the same destructive and creative desires that bands like Deadguy and Kiss it Goodbye brought to the hardcore scene, the Minor Times have released one vicious album in Summer of Wolves. After their debut full-length, Making Enemies, the band jumped ship from cool indie Level Plane to cool bigger indie Prosthetic, a more suitable home for their ultra-heavy sound. So, let's see if the metalheads that Prosthetic cater to give this band a shot — with those ultra-violent screamed vocals and broken-glass guitar and percussion attack there's no reason they shouldn't. The plodding crush of "+ + +" is a great way to start the album, with just enough disjointed rhythms and multi-layered screams to warn the listener of what lies ahead. And apart from the strange jazz/indie break in "This Is the Blues," things don't let up for 40 minutes. While this could be considered torture by some, for those who relish chaos, it's sweet misery

Nodding at once to the Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, Norma Jean, and Harvest, the four Philly boys in The Minor Times find that sweet spot somewhere between calculuscore and breakdown-core on their sophomore full-length. The result is a killer example of heavy music that's smart enough to keep things just a little dumb.

This is some great Unsane-influenced progressive hardcore with lots of metal thrown in. The artwork and layout are phenomenal.

Before signing to Prosthetic, The Minor Times was one of those bands that everyone sort of knew about. They were an ex members band. They started off with Ryan at Hex Records, which was the ideal label for them. Then they jumped to Prosthetic, which lots of people were sort of leery about, hoping that there wouldn't be a style change to sell albums. But it wasn't until they reached Prosthetic that they found their grip on a honed down sound that can't be denied by anyone. Summer of Wolves is the follow up to their Prosthetic debut, Making Enemies and is capable of audibly melting your face clean off. Combining aspects of Botch, Isis, Deadguy, and others, they've come up with a corrosive sound that won't easily be forgotten.

The album kicks off with a track that, by its name, you would assume was an intro track, but you would have been wrong. "+ + + " comes right out of the box and punches you square in the gut. When the vocals first roll in, you get a blast back to Breather Resist, automatically. Their singer Brendan McAndrew bares a very close resemblance to Steve of Breather Resist. It's heavy and angry, and while you may have a slight difficultly making out some of his vocals if you're unfamiliar with his style, once you do, you'll find that Brendan has some of the most powerful vocals, and his lyrics will pull you into the song more than you would think. But McAndrew's vocals are only one facet of this diamond in the rough that is The Minor Times. The guitar duo of Timothy Leo and Lou Millinghausen is something to truly marvel at. Though Lou has recently stepped down from the band, he did record and help write Summer of Wolves and will forever be immortalized in my record collection. Their riffs will lead you all over the musical spectrum as one of my friends when they heard the tracks said "it sounds like a band formed out of dudes from Hope Con, Botch, and Isis". The rhythm section, tied up by Matthew Leo and Brian Medlin holds the whole band together, with smooth bass lines and to a T perfect drumming. I have nothing but praise for this band and this album.

I am normally very critical of bands attempting this style of music. Lots of records don't get reviewed because I can't stand listening to them, some get knocked down because they can't keep their head above water. Very few bands have been able to do this well. The Minor Times is at the top of the list, side by side with another Hex Records band, Achilles. I have massive respect for what The Minor Times has done in their musical career, and if their next album is any better than this, I'm going to have to build a rating system that goes higher than 100.

Summer of Wolves pre-orders started shipping today.  If you haven't ordered it yet and you'd like to get your copy before the street date, click the album image on our front page.  It will ship within the next 24 hours and you'll have the CD even before we do.

Relapse records is going to be releasing a limited edition 7" with us and our friends ROSETTA.  The record will feature 2 brand new tracks from us not available anywhere else.  If you're not familiar with ROSETTA, head over to their page, those guys are incredible.  Needless to say, we're pretty floored to have a record coming out on Prosthetic and a 7"  on Relapse with a great band.

We got a ton of shows coming up followed by 4 weeks of tour w/ our good friends ENGINEER.  Check back for dates.

Summer of Wolves will also be available on vinyl in the coming months.  We'll have the details surrounding that shortly.

Does anyone read these?

Thank you to everyone who came out to the shows in PA and MD this weekend. It was a great send off for our guitarist Lou, as this weekend marked his last run of shows with us. Lou has been playing with us for some time now and was instrumental in the song writing process for "Summer of Wolves". We love the guy to death and will miss him a lot.

Instead of searching for a replacement, we've simply decided that Tim will now handle all the guitar duties in the band. We have been practicing with this arrangement for over a month now and feel very comfortable with the idea of presenting it everywhere this entire summer. Speaking of which, keep checking the shows section as we will be posting more soon.

The new album will be in stores on June 26th. Don't forget to check out the pre-order info on the main page.

We just posted a couple upcoming shows.  Sorry for the lack of...show posting.  We're looking to book the last 2 dates of a weekend with our good friends ROSETTA in Maine and CT/NY/PA.  If you'd like to have our bands play near you, shoot us a message.  We're going to hit the road hard real soon, so come out to the shows and say hello.

The record is off to press.  It's going to kill you.  After you download it, you should really buy it.  really.  The artwork is incredible and was done by our friend and operator, MARK PRICE (with some help from Tim).  The layout consists of a 16 page book complete with a silver spot color...and believe me it's awesome.  Mark is going places.  You can check out a preview of the artwork here > http://markpriceisafactory.com/tmt  and while you're there, check out the rest of his page and buy something.  He could use the money, because we didn't give him any.

We have some hot new shirts on the way and soon we'll have a pre-order thing up where you can order the record and a shirt for $600 or so.

We'll be posting another new song or 2 in the coming days, so check back every once in a while.  Thanks for reading.

we love you.

Today we're happy to debut the song Casket City Lights from our new 41 mintute, 11 song album Summer of Wolves. We couldn't be more thrilled with the way everything turned out and will be adding a few more songs from the record as well as media player to our website as the spring release date nears.

A little more info about the record: It was recorded by Vince Ratti at Skylight during this past December and January, mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West West Side, and the amazing artwork comes from our friend Mark Price (markpriceisafactory.com).

Make sure to keep checking back as we have a lot more exciting news to share over the next few months.

Current mood:  creative

There's a place down by the studio called the Great American Diner and Pub. They have 10 ounce drafts of amazing beer for 1 dollar (Harp, Bass..even Guinness)..plus great grilled cheese.

We assembled all these elements, the band and our friend/engineer, Vince Ratti around an oval table in a padded booth two weeks ago to talk about this new record that we were finally about to make together.

Two weeks later and drums, bass, and half the guitars for "Summer of Wolves" are recorded.

Prosthetic has been amazingly supportive which has in turn helped this recording experience to be our best one yet. Everyone's taking their time tracking and tons of  ideas are constantly being tossed around. Not to mention, working with Vince for a second time now has made it even more relaxed and fun.

The last day of mixing is set for jan.5. So we'll have a few new songs from the album up here as soon mastering is completed. Thanks for reading.
