Aggiunte nuove illustrazioni, Storyboard - design1 -, Storyboard - design2 -, Storyboard - complete 1 -, Storyboard - complete 2 -. Avete mai sentito parlare di “storyboard”? Bhè, uno storyboard è praticamente una sequenza di piccole illustrazioni, chiamate fotogrammi, realizzate molto velocemente, che, come per un fumetto, raccontano una storia. Gli storyboard sono la parte che avviene prima della realizzazione di una pubblicità televisiva, di un film o di un lungometraggio animato (anche se generalmente in questo caso non sono storyboard a colori) e servono al regista per capire ad esempio I colori e le luci o anche il taglio e l'inquadratura generale. Raccontano in maniera generica e non dettagliata, il “senso” dello spot o della scena da girare. La cosa più importante è disegnare in maniera più precisa possibile il prodotto Questo è un tipo tra I mille lavori che può fare un illustratore. Così per allenamento a questo tipo di cose, ho fatto lo storyboard di questa pubblicità, Ange Ou Demon un profumo di Givenchy, la ricordate? Dovevamo scegliere uno spot già esistente e farne il rispettivo storyboard. Questo in particolare perché visto che la scelta era libera ho preferito uno spot che mi piacesse prima di tutto e poi che avesse molte sequenze da disegnare. Ovviamente questo è il lavoro al contrario, cioè lo storyboard andrebbe fatto prima, ma operare in questa maniera mi è stato utile per capire il “come”. Così, si disegna molto velocemente prima la matita di ogni fotogramma, e poi si passa la colore, che io ho realizzato digitalmente con Photoshop (per me il modo più veloce e di sicuro impatto per questa cosa). Tutto quanto per non più di 1/1 ora e mezza a fotogramma (progettazione e colorazione incluse ovviamente).

Some new illustrations have been added, Storyboard - design1 -, Storyboard - design2 -, Storyboard - complete 1 -, Storyboard - complete 2 -. Have you ever heard about “storyboard”? Well, a storyboard it's a sequence of little illustrations, called “frame”, really quickly done, that as a comic, tell a story. The storyboards are the previous part of a TV spot, a movie or an animated film (even if cinema's storyboards are usually without colors), they're are useful to the director to understand how are lights and colors, or even framing. They tell the situation in a generic and not so detailed way, they make the “sense” of the whole spot or scene to shoot. The most important thing is to draw in the best way possible the “product”. And yes, this is usually a job an illustrator make. So just to exercise myself for spot storyboards, I've made this one. It's the storyboard of this spot: Ange Ou Demon, a perfume by Givenchy, do you remember it? We have to choose a pre-existing advertising and make the respective storyboard. So, I've chosen a perfume spot, because I usually like them more then other advertisings and also because in this one in particular I had a lot of sequences to draw. Obviously this is the contrary process, because you should draw it before, but to work in this way was useful to understand “how”. So I've quickly drew the pencil frames (link) (link), and then I've colored them (link) (link) with Photoshop (to me the fast way to do it in the best way). All this for not more than 1/1 and half hour per frame (design and coloring included of course).

Aggiunta una nuova illustrazione della serie Femme Fatale, con relativo bozzetto: Peacock (sketch) e Femme Fatale: Peacock. Lo schizzo è realizzato con grafite, l'illustrazione a colori con Photoshop CS4.


A new illustration has been added on the series Femme Fatale, with its sketch: Peacock (sketch) e Femme Fatale: Peacock. The first one is the pencil drawing, the second one is the colored version, made with Photoshop CS4.

Aggiunte due nuove immagini, Love Will Tear Me Apart (sketch) e la versione a colori, Love Will Tear Me Apart. Questo lavoro è stato fatto per un contest di design di magliette, in corso sul sito TooQuoque.com. Il tema del contest è il puzzle e non so perchè, ma la prima cosa che mi è venuta in mente è stata la frase "love will tear us apart" (l'amore ci farà a pezzi): a pezzi, i pezzi di un puzzle...così molto velocemente ho creato il bozzetto che poi ho colorato con Illustrator. Essendo un design di magliette, erano stati richiesti esplicitamente l'utilizzo di non più di 4 colori (per la stampa serigrafica) e nessuna sfumatura, ecco perchè a livello cromatico può risultare più semplice delle cose che faccio di solito con il vettoriale. La maglietta vincitrice sarà stampata in tiratura limitata di 200 pezzi da Straight To Hell. Sono aperte le votazioni fino al 30 giugno, chiunque volesse votare una maglietta deve iscriversi al sito. Votate numerosi!

Two new pictures have been added, Love Will Tear Me Apart (sketch) and its colored version, Love Will Tear Me Apart. This work has been made for a t-shirt design contest, on the website TooQuoque.com. The contest theme is "the puzzle" and I don't know why but the firts things that came on my mind was "love will tear us apart": tear aparat, puzzle pieces...so fastly I've drawn the sketch and then colored it with Illustrator. Being a t-shirt design, I can use only 4 colours (max) for screen printing, so the result could be more simple than my other vector pieces. The winning design will be printed in a limited edition of 200 pieces by Straight To Hell. Pools are opened till the 30th of June: registration is necessary to vote a t-shirt! You're all invited to vote, and bring all your friends!

De Rerum Obscuritate Art-show: prima mostra personale dedicata all'arte di ScarletGothica. Dall'11 al 28 Giugno 2009, presso Fusolab, via Giorgio Pitacco 29 (zona Largo Preneste, Roma). Info anche su Fusolab myspace.

Il titolo è latino e significa "Sull'Oscurità", ispirato al "De Rerum Natura" di Lucrezio. La mostra verterà quindi sulla tematiche più oscure che caratterizzano i miei lavori. All'interno della mostra ci sarà anche del merchandise. Ingresso libero. Venite numerosi!

Creata una nuova galleria Femme Fatale, ed aggiunte le immagini Sue, Meg, Kat, Eva, Bea, Ada. Queste illustrazioni fanno parte della nuova serie "Femme Fatale", un tributo alla bellezza e al mistero del primo ventennio del ventesimo secolo. Visto il successo riscosso dalle prime due, ho deciso di creare per ora questa mini serie, ma ho in mente altre illustrazioni in proposito. Le cartoline saranno disponibili alla vendita dall'11 al 28 Giugno presso Fusolab, per l'occasione della mostra personale De Rerum Obscuritate.


A new gallery has been created, Femme Fatale and some new illustrations have been added: Sue, Meg, Kat, Eva, Bea, Ada. These pictures belong a new serie called "Femme Fatale", a tribute to beauty and mystery of twentieth-century's first years. I've decided to do some more illustrations about that, seeing the outcome they had. Some postcards will be available at Fusolab from 11 to 28 of June, on the occasion of my art exhibit, De Rerum Obscuritate.
