Title: Blood NoirAuthor: Jesse FoxPublisher: Dark Roast PressReleased: July 01, 2009 eBook 276 pages Genre: m/m erotic romance, mystery Buy NowAlex Klein is a successful photographer whose life is about to be torn apart. His long-time lover Harley Scott, a private investigator, knows something is wrong: a woman has been following them for weeks. But it isn’t until Alex takes a job in Seattle that Harley learns just how terrible the advancing storm might be. Can he get to Alex in time to protect him? Or are they both into something so terrifying neither one will survive? Blood Noir entertains. Jesse Fox writes with confidence, developing characters brimming with life, telling a story with more curves than a corkscrew and enough suspense to keep you madly turning pages. Add in some erotic male on male romance and a dark mystery and, not surprisingly, you have something unique to offer the reading public. If you’ve never tried non-traditional romance, this is the book to start with. The sex is included only where appropriate for building the story, and it never replaces the main plot line, which is the mystery. The book isn’t perfect: certain phrases are overused or misused (I think you’ll notice them yourself), and too many of the characters are participants in the actual mystery, leaving the door open for reader disbelief. I found this irritating in a book which is otherwise professionally crafted. Yet, when the final page was turned, my reaction can honestly be defined as satisfied completion. I would read Jesse Fox again, and I suggest you give Blood Noir a turn on your own bookshelf. Copyright © Clayton Clifford Bye 2009

Title: I'll be Your Drill,Soldier Author: Crystal Rose Website of Publisher: www.darkroastpress.comGenre: Gay, M/M, Erotic Fiction, Contemporary Publication Date: 2009 ISBN: N/A Length: 576 Pages Format: eBook Reviewer: WitchGiggles Alternative-Read.com Disowned when he "outed" himself to his family, Ryan Gracin figured the best way to pay for his education was to let the Good Ole US of A-via the Army- do it. That was his first mistake. His second was to fall for the meanest, devil-be-damned Drill Sargent to ever train a recruit; especially since said Drill Sargent was training him to go out and face the realities of war. They didn't come any meaner than "Big Daddy" and Ryan discovered that he was more than just a gay man; he was a soldier. Following in his dad's footsteps, Philip Grabowski has spent a lot of time in the army, trying to teach "kids" how to stay alive. The one thing he never expected was for one of those "kids" to affect him like a sucker punch to the heart. As well as thoughts of the things he'd like to perpetrate on Freckles' body are thoughts of how he'll get along without this recruit when it's time to let him go. Then sometimes fate steps in and hands you a rose. This is a writer who paints with words and may she continue to do so. Her descriptiveness had me worrying about the characters, shouting with laughter, shedding tears, saying prayers and wanting to find and hug each and every one of them. They are so real as to be my neighbors, my friends, cousins; well, you get the picture I'm sure. They seem to come alive and step off the page and play out their drama in front of you. While you may look at the page count and groan, believe me they seem to fly by faster than would seem possible, but it's that ending, that lovely, intriguing ending.... this is a book I want to tell my friends about for it has a strength, character and sense of fairness I wish the world used, but sadly seems to have forgotten exists. -- Posted By WitchGiggles to Alternative-Read.com

* * * 4.5 DIVAS For CARNAL CRAVINGS by Keta Diablo
Carnal Cravings by Keta Diablo Publisher: Dark Roast Press Genre: Historical, BDSM, GLBT, M/M
BUY HERE: DARK ROAST PRESS, http://www.darkroastpress.com Summary: Craven and his friend Anthony discover they're in over their heads the night they're caught spying on Beresford Hall. But when Craven meets the dark, mysterious Dominic Beresford, he wonders if fate really does step in and take you by surprise when you least expect.
My Review: Carnal Cravings may be a short novella, but it had my heart pounding more than one time, and for completely different reasons. This book has a touch of suspense, a few horrible memories from Craven, and several very hot sex scenes between sexy men. What more could you ask for?
Despite the short length of the book, I was drawn in and held captive by the mysterious Dominic and the sweet, young Craven. This book moves along at a very fast pace, keeping you on the edge of your seat, panting for more. The only thing I can think of that would make this book better would have been use of lubrication and more length to the story.
Carnal Cravings is a great, quick read to heat you up and leave you satisfied. The scene in which Craven has memories of his childhood and Nurse Evans might make you shudder and cringe for poor young Craven, but his life is looking up just fine with Dominic in the picture.

BOUND BY BLOOD: THE AWAKENING BOOK ONE C.H. SCARLETT ISBN: Unavailable February 2009 Dark Roast Press http://darkroastpress.com Ebook $8.99 714 Pages Paranormal, Dark Fantasy, Romance/Erotica Rating: 4 Cups
Because of a prophecy Samanthra Lampir is trying to keep her Awakening from occurring. If the prophecy is accurate, then her Awakening can trigger not only her beast from within, but may also bring about the death of her loved ones. Along comes Dareus Dracura, a man who is known as Father of the Blood and who is feared by many, including Samanthra's father, Dias. It was he who put Dareus away using The Sleep of the Damned. Now Dareus and Samanthra must work together to save TERAH, the planet they live on, before it is overtaken by evil. While they struggle to fight against the evil powers that are waging a war against them, an even more pressing issue comes about. The Dark Matter, which is the source of evil's power, is slowly drawing upon subjects around it and forming an entity that is more dangerous and more deadly than any other being they have fought against. Will Dareus and Samanthra be able to stop evil from winning and if so, at what cost to those they love?
Ms. Scarlett will take you on a journey through time to a place before Earth was even a speck of dirt in the galaxy. Bound By Blood: The Awakening, is the first book in a new series. While most of the story gripped me and took me on a fantastic voyage, parts of it were confusing, possibly from all the eclectic group of characters throughout this tale. I thoroughly enjoyed watching how much Samanthra came out swinging when others tried to hold her down, and Dareus' love for her made this story all the better. With a cliffhanger that will leave you breathless, this novel will leave you in suspense and have you pleading for more books to come about the planet, TERAH and all its inhabitants.

BLOOD NOIR JESSE FOX ISBN#: Unavailable July 1, 2009 Dark Roast Press www.darkroastpress.com E-book $5.99 276 pages GLBT/ Erotic Romance/ Suspense Rating: 4 cups
Alex Klein is a professional artistic photographer. He has been given the opportunity to collaborate with a crime reporter on a book about murderers. The night terrors he has had his whole life disappeared when he met Harley Scott. With the upcoming trip approaching, the night terrors are back.
Being jumpy is not good when you are a private investigator and Harley Scott is feeling very jumpy. With his White Knight complex, Harley’s gut is telling him something is not right. When things start to go wrong in St. Louis and secrets are revealed, it takes everything within Harley to not drag Alex back home. Especially when all of the signs are pointing towards danger and Alex.
At the airport on his flight from St. Louis, Missouri to Seattle, Washington, Alex meets a lady who is dressed in a retro manner. When Harley calls to demand Alex come home, he tells Alex about the woman who was following them one evening. Alex refuses to leave Seattle, though he has been having feelings that this job might not be what he wanted. There are secrets which could threaten their ten year relationship, if someone does not kill one of them first.
This book is a nail biter. It kept me on the edge of my seat, flipping the pages as quickly as I could. Rarely do I find myself yelling at characters in a book, but I did at these characters! Leo, chauffeur/ babysitter for Alex, was the cherry on top. He added a level of humor to this story which kept it from becoming too dark. This story is dark and spooky, but one I could not put down until the last page was read. Ms. Fox has once again taken this reviewer on an adventure and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Natal Website of Author: Website of Publisher: www.darkroastpress.comGenre: Thriller, M/M, Erotic Fiction Publication Date: August 2008 ISBN: N/A Length: 515 Pages Format: eBook Reviewer: WitchGigglesAlternative-Read.com
In a modern time where sex and prostitution is turned into servitude in order to keep it safe for both sides, where Lords hold power where they will and spoiled is a normal state of being, Elias Doherty is about to set in motion more trouble than ever conceived by his little mind. All because he wants one spectacularly beautiful Servant trained for one exceptionally powerful and unforgiving Lord. Jared Karan, trained from a small child to be the sexual slave of a lord knows no other way of life, misunderstands why he is being "thrown away" to this other lord and is afraid to trust in the one thing he has never known in his entire adult life- the love of an adult for his unworthy person; but with slow steps he slowly learns that he can make decisions for himself and trust his own heart. At the very beginning of this I thought it was going to turn into "simply another spoiled boy getting his way" type of romance. Ms. Natal however, gave me a very surprising wake up call in that this was a book that never got boring, never dragged, always had things going on that you never expected and most of all the characters are stunning to watch in their growth and the sex was enough to scorch. I recommend this one most heartily. --
