I went to this leadership conference today. It's sort of this class if you will that involves studying the different kinds of leadership styles. It got me thinking about my project and all of the different choices that each and everyone of us make about the way we conduct ourselves.
In the class discussion the professor brought up the idea of writing a personal vision statement. This statement is kind of the sumation of what you as a person stand for and what you would like to accomplish. I sat there thinking and this is what I came up with "In living life to the fullest, my thirst for knowledge and activism will lead to a visible impact within my community. This impact should bring not only positivity but a 'think globally, act locally' mind set to everyone around me." It is a work in progress but I think that having given thought to what I would like to accomplish as a leader and activist was an integral part to accomplishing all my goals wether it be staying vegetarian and active or leading a service project.
After the session was over I started talking to a classmate (for lack of a better word) about the whole idea of "Locavore". This concept was introduced to me by a goup of friends in Vermont, were the idea has been spread a great deal. The whole idea of leaving a carbon foot print. The topics brought up lead me to my blog tonight. How do we know when we are really being eco-friendly? I try to do my part and recyle but, do we know if what we are doing is really making a statistical impact? I just don't know and I think that that is the true problem in society is that we are just not well enough informed. How to fix that, aside from education and the persuit of knowledge, I just don't know. But thats ok because at least I know that I don't know.
