JAMIE MCKENZIE
Describe your style
An infusion of deep and groovy house and techno.
Where can we see you play?
I've recently been made resident DJ for leading Edinburgh club night, Musika. Also, look out for my own club night in Edinburgh which kicks off soon called Off:beat.
How long have you been DJing for?
I got my first set of decks two and a half years ago and had my first gig on January 1, 2008 at a massive New Year's Day bash in Edinburgh.
Career highlight?
Warming up for techno legend Christian Smith recently at Musika.
Best club you've played?
Without a doubt the Liquidroom in Edinburgh. This is one of the best clubs/live music venues in the country. You simply can't beat it when it's packed out.
Best gig you've played?
I'd have to say it was one of the first gigs I ever played when we had Deadmau5 playing for Musika and I was on downstairs in Room 2. It was absolutely rammed - what an atmosphere.
Dance heroes
Sasha, John Digweed, Steve Lawler, Hernan Cattaneo, Underworld, Orbital.
Ambitions for 2009?
To produce my own records, run my own club night in Edinburgh and to continue providing the Musika faithful with good music.
