Who are your personal style icons?
I really love Japanese style. Actually to be more specific, I like the styles in the Shoujo mangas. Its so cute and fun that it makes me want to dress up like that! I also like the Olsen Twins' style, and Irena Lazereneau's edgy french style.

Who are your favorite designers?
I don't necessarily have a favorite, I like all fashion. Chanel is really great and so is Alexander McQueen, his work is really interesting. :P

What is the best item in your closet?
My Uggs. I love them so much, they're the most comfortable and the warmest things I have ever worn on my feet.

What are your favorite stores?
Value Village. Surprisingly you can find some really interesting things in there. I'm actually a huge secondhand store junkie.

What one item do you think every fashionista needs?
Something Neon.

If you had $1000 to spend on any item of clothing, what would it be?
Either a lolita-style dress, or a really nice, warm jacket.

Meet our MySpace Muse of the week Anthony.




Who are your personal style icons?
Even though I would never classify my look as 'punk' I would say a lot of the classic CBGB punk guys are my muse: Iggy Pop, The Ramones, the male members of Blondie (in their heyday). I would say more than anything, however, my friends are my biggest style icons. I always say that 'i just wear what my friends tell me to wear.'

Who are your favourite designers?
My definite favorites in terms of clothes that are accessible and that I can actually wear would be Steven Alan and APC. From a purely fashion standpoint, I really like Marc by Marc Jacobs.

What is the best item in your closet?
A souvenir t-shirt from Vancouver with an awesome neon totem pole on it.

What are your favourite stores?
In Toronto, I really only buy vintage. I really like Vintage Toby (which just moved last week i think from Kensington Market to Queen Street), 69 vintage, and Badlands Vintage. None of these compare to the Value Villages in Winnipeg though (where I grew up). I save lots of my shopping for when i'm in New York, when I'm there I really like Opening Ceremony or Steven Alan.

What one item do you think every fashionista needs?
A good thread-bare, well-worn, grey t-shirt.

If you had $1000 to spend on any item of clothing, what would it be?
A gazillion vintage plaid flannel shirts!!!

Yo LOVELIES!!

Here's what our fashion muse of the week DJ DAYN has to say about fashion....

Honestly for me...fashion-wise if I know something is considered trendy I steer away. Trends make me feel claustrophobic. I don't stick to just one line of clothing. I believe that you can find things everywhere- both old and new- cheap and expensive.

I usually purchase items I'm attracted to. And it's funny because I'm usually attracted to items with imperfections that happen to be the scruffiest of the bunch. They seem to have more character & stand out to me!

Perhaps I'm weird...oh well :)

Prom is on its way. Now is the time to scavenge for the perfect prom dress. Prom is known to be very competitive, everyone wants the perfect dress, and usually go to extremes to standout. What is a little sad is that time and lots of money is spent on a dress that will be worn once…or twice that costs more than an entire closet. Anyways, one important tip to make your prom and prom dress absolutely amazing is to have fun, no matter where your dress is bought.
 
A dress or anything that you’re wearing for that matter should reflect your personality. What you’re comfortable with wearing makes you standout in a different way, and people will notice. What someone might consider is buying a dress relatively cheap, or on a budget and getting it altered or customized. This is a great way to actually design your own dress. It’s fun and if taken to a great tailor it’ll look great.

Some amazing private and small boutiques have a lot of vintage dresses that you can find relatively cheap. Again you can always alter and change it a little bit, so it’s personalized.

A little tip that’s a bit more expensive, if you’re ever travelling anywhere buy a dress. This doesn’t mean buy a dress from a store that is familiar to you. Something I did, I bought a dress last year, I haven’t worn it once and it’s my prom dress this year. At the time I didn’t plan it like that, but it makes sense. No one else will have the same dress as me, so why not? That’s also another plus if you buy in another province, state, or even country, the chances are bigger that no one will match with you.

A nice pair of jeans! but what we must really need is the personality and confidence to bring out the best in our self on to our clothes...
