-This album was a blast to make. Los Angeles heat is putting the Labor into my Labor Day...

-It's currently 100 degrees INSIDE my rat-infested house. It's too hot to move, let alone cook anything, so I am existing on a diet of refrigerator water (Pür Pitcher) and Otter Pops left over from Ali's birthday (15 calories each).

-Answers.com says that the U.S. and Canada have observe this holiday "in honor of working people." So it's kinda like saying, "Hooray, we have jobs! Let's not go to them today!"

-Although, if I were at work... I'd be sitting in A/C right now... A cool 74 degrees, probably. AND, since I *DO* have a job... I can afford to move into a nice new apartment with central A/C as of the 15th.

-I guess there's something to celebrate after all!

So there I was...

-Sunday night. I'd just finished my set at the Viper Room, and the sound guy was nowhere to be found... An uneasy silence settled in on the room. No background music elicited from the house sound system... Just a few nervous coughs and quiet comments exchanged (after the THUNDEROUS applause died down, of course)... I knew I had to act, and FAST!

-With Lindsey Cook and her band waiting to take the stage, I knew I couldn't just keep playing my own songs until the sound man got back... We needed something more mobile. Less formal. More collaborative...

-Thankfully, I spotted my good friend Loren, of Teaneck fame. Loren is a Jersey boy with a soft spot for representin' his home state. There was only one thing to do...

-I tossed Loren my trusty Martin acoustic and told him to launch into a little Bon Jovi. Unplugged. While I wrapped my cables up and Lindsey's band were setting up, we led the crowd in a campfire sing-a-long of epic proportions.

-The footage is dark, but the feeling was oh-so-bright... Consider yourselves officially bummed to have missed it...

Happy New Year everyone!

-And Happy Birthday to my sister!

-In light of these annual events, I've made two key resolutions... I thought I would share them with you. Because you deserve to know the truth...

FIRST RESOLUTION

I am going to shave this damned beard.

Yes, it's a very red beard. Yes, my hair is very dark brown. I'm Scottish. Other than that, I can't explain it. So I'm getting a little tired of talking about it... Unless you're my grandmother. If you are, in fact, my grandmother... Then I'm happy to have the same conversation about the color my facial hair at least five times a day. Because you're my grandmother, and you gave birth to the woman who gave birth to me. Love you, grandma! (She's SO not on MySpace). But none of you are my grandmother... So I'm shavin' it!

SECOND RESOLUTION

I'm going to get my dog to stop barking at the neighbors.

This resolution may prove much more difficult to achieve. She's a good dog. Loves people. Great with kids. But you'd never know it by how much she barks thunderously throughout the neighborhood when I leave the house... So in the interest of keeping up neighborly relations, her lingering bad habit must be broken! I am dedicated. I will complete my mission to silence this beast:
