Hiya!

Sorry I've been pretty much MIA from MySpace lately..... I just don't have as much "downtime" as I used to...

In case you didn't catch my last blog, I now work for a record label as the Director of West Coast Promotion.  It's called REPUBLIC NASHVILLE and under the same familial umbrella as Big Machine Records and Valory Music Company.  Some of our artists include:

Taylor Swift
Reba
Jack Ingram
Justin Moore
Jimmy Wayne
Steel Magnolia
Kate & Kacey
Emerson Drive
Trisha Yearwood
Garth Brooks (distribution)

On Republic Nashville we have:

Fast Ryde
The Band Perry
Sunny Sweeney

Now, for the artists, you can always check out their MySpace pages for more information ......... but for me?  FACEBOOK is where it's at.

I heart the Blackberry Facebook App more than the MySpace App... and I've found, on the road, that I really only have time to Facebook and/or Tweet.  I check in on MySpace every now and then, but not on any sort of regular schedule.

For those of you who used to listen to me on KiiM-FM 99.5 and still write and/or call... I REALLY appreciate you.  You made it very difficult to switch careers but because of your endless support, I also knew I was doing the right thing.

If you know me, you know I'm all about learning, growing and expanding on what I already know... and this opportunity with Republic Nashville gave me the chance to stay in the BEST format in the world ... COUNTRY ... while visiting new places, faces and radio stations.  I just couldn't ask for anything more.

So, if you're looking for me, find me at:

www.facebook.com/radiolois
www.twitter.com/radiolois

And if you're a die-hard MySpacer... I'll be back when I can.  :-)

Take care of you... have a great week... month... year... LIFE.   And don't forget to ROCK.  OUT.  LOUD.

xo,
Double-L

Howdy!!!

First of all, I've gotta let you know that I favor Facebook over MySpace these days.  If you haven't signed up yet, DO IT.  It's easy, simple and the mobile application is better than MySpace's is.  I update Facebook far more often than I do my MySpace.  I'm also on Twitter.

www.facebook.com/radiolois
www.twitter.com/radiolois

So...................

Many of you have been asking what's next for me.... my home away from KiiM-FM..... and I can FINALLY tell you!

I'm going to work for a new imprint label under the umbrella of Big Machine Records.  For those of you who don't know, that's Taylor Swift's label.  They also house Valory Music Company, so artists like Taylor, Reba, Jack, Jimmy, Justin, Trisha, Garth, Kate & Kacey, Emerson Drive, and more!

The label I'll be working with is called REPUBLIC NASHVILLE.

We've got three artists already on the roster:

New duo:  FAST RYDE
Group:  THE BAND PERRY
Texan Honkytonker:  SUNNY SWEENEY

Our first single to radio will be called "THAT THANG" by Fast Ryde.  SUPER fun song that I KNOW you'll love!  I can't wait to hear it on KiiM-FM 99.5 SOON!!  I know I will!  :-)

So, my job will be to travel the West Coast, promoting Republic Nashville artists.  Servicing radio whatever they need to make life GREAT and radio sound SPECTACULAR.

I'll still live here in AZ but will be on the road quite a bit, especially here at the beginning of our push.

Of course, I'll deliver my tunes to Du at the Moon and J.P. at the Pony, too, so y'all can hear 'em ASAP!

Thanks for caring about me, asking about me... and just being part of my life!

See you SOON!

Rock.
Out.
Loud.

REPUBLIC NASHVILLE ANNOUNCES LABEL’S PROMOTION TEAM

(NASHVILLE, TN - June 25, 2009) --- Bobby Young, Republic Nashville Director of National Promotion, is pleased to announce key additions to the label’s radio promotions staff.

Lois Lewis, a 10-year radio veteran, will join Republic Nashville as Director of West Coast Promotion. A graduate of Arizona State University with majors in Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communication and Spanish, Lewis most recently served as Music Director and On-Air Personality at KNIX/ Phoenix and KIIM/ Tucson.

“Lois’ knowledge of the broadcasting industry, as well as her wonderful personality and drive to succeed, will fuel our growth in the West,” said Young.

Shari Roth has been named Director of Midwest/Northeast Promotion of Republic Nashville. Roth has previously served as the Director of Merchandising for Columbia House, Assistant Program Director/ Music Director at WYNY, and as the Director of Midwest Promotion at both Midas and Category 5 Records. Roth most recently served as Director of Midwest Promotion for 1720 Entertainment.

“I’ve always been a fan of Shari’s work ethic and relationship building skills, and her professionalism and knowledge of both radio and the recording industry. I truly look forward to working with her at Republic Nashville.” ‘said Young.

Kathleen Drosey, joins the Republic Nashville team as Promotion Coordinator. Drosey began her career as a Promotion and Publicity intern at Capitol Records Nashville and served as an on-air personality for WGGY Froggy 101 and WMWX Mix 95.7. Drosey most recently served as the Radio Marketing Coordinator and Secondary Promotion rep with Montage Music Group.

“It’s already apparent on so many levels that Kathleen is going to provide the perfect backbeat for this team,” continued Young. “Her cheerful personality, exceptional business skills and former radio experience are paralleled by few in her position.

ABOUT REPUBLIC NASHVILLE:

Monte Lipman, President and CEO of Universal Republic and Scott Borchetta, President and CEO of Big Machine Records, LLC proudly announced the formation of its new label partnership – Republic Nashville – two weeks ago.

Former Capitol Records Promotion executive Jimmy Harnen will serve as President with Borchetta serving as CEO. The imprint will be headquartered on Music Row and utilize the combined resources of Big Machine Records and Universal Republic Records. Big Machine and Universal Republic first joined forces in 2007 to propel country Superstar Taylor Swift to Top 40 radio and beyond, with Taylor becoming the best-selling all-genre artist in 2008. Republic Nashville's inaugural roster will include honky tonkin' singer/songwriter Sunny Sweeney and new country duo Fast Ryde, among other artists.

Lois Lewis joins upstart Nashville record label

06/26/2009 10:38 AM
Cathalena E. Burch

Former KIIM DJ Lois Lewis is heading up West Coast promotions for upstart Nashville imprint Republic Nashville, formed by Universal Republic’s Monte Lipman and Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta. Lewis left KIIM earlier this month.

In a press release, Republic Nashville’s national promotions director Bobby Young said Lewis’s experience will come in handy in fueling the label’s growth in the West. Lewis is a 10-year veteran of Arizona radio including a run at Phoenix country giant KNIX.

The Borchetta and Lipman partnership is a natural given the pair’s history. In 2007, they joined forces to propel Taylor Swift, a Big Machine artist, to super stardom. Swift was one of the biggest selling all-genre artists of 2008 and is on track to be among the top concert draws of 2009.

Republic Nashville is headquartered on Music Row in Nashville and will tap into the combined Big Machine and Universal Republic resources. Its inaugural roster will include honky tonkin’ Texas singer/songwriter Sunny Sweeney and the new country duo Fast Ryde.

Howwwwwdie!!!!

Just a quick reminder that there's a TON of fun stuff to do this weekend around town!

Friday night, my favorite band plays at Old Father Inn, NW Tucson...  time to get TICKLED!!!  I'll be there after work for some great live tuneage!

Then, we'll do it up Philly V style at the Pima County Fair!  I'll be out there from 4pm on... with Phil taking the stage around 7:30pm.  This concert is PHREE with PHAIR admission!!!  If you've never seen Philly V, you've been missing out!  And if you have... well, I know I'll see you there!!!

Post Phair, we've got several options... TICKLE will be playing again on the east side at Fenderskirts.... and then, of course, Saturday nights at the Moon are always a blast!!!

Whatever you've got going on this weekend, hopefully you make KiiM-FM a part of it!!!

See you around!!!

ACM Winner List

  • Entertainer: Carrie Underwood.

  • Album: Taylor Swift's Fearless.

  • Male: Brad Paisley.

  • Female: Carrie Underwood.

  • Vocal Group: Rascal Flatts.

  • Vocal Duo: Sugarland.

  • New Artist: Julianne Hough.

  • New Male Vocalist: Jake Owen.

  • New Female Vocalist: Julianne Hough.

  • New Vocal Duo Or Group: Zac Brown Band.

  • Single: Trace Adkins' "You're Gonna Miss This."

  • Song: Jamey Johnson's "In Color."

  • Video: Brad Paisley's "Waitin' On A Woman."

  • Vocal Event: Brad Paisley and Keith Urban's "Start A Band."

  • Crystal Milestone: Taylor Swift and Jennifer Nettles.

  • Home Depot Humanitarian: LeAnn Rimes.

Shockers for me were:  Carrie/Entertainer and Julianne/Best New Artist.  I think you can guess why.  Though I love Julianne as a person, she had ONE single that didn't even come close to Top 10 while Zac Brown Band rocked all year with Chicken Fried and are on a successful second single and Jake Owen is... well, JAKE FREAKIN' OWEN!

And Carrie?  Over Keith or Brad?  Or even Kenny, though he's not my fave?  C'mon!  This is where fan voting is awesome and questionable at the same time.  Keith had my vote all day long, as did Jake.  But ... it's music.  And music is personal, subjective ... and the best thing in the entire world.

My favorite performance of the entire night?  Trace.  "'Til The Last Shot's Fired" featuring the West Point Glee Club.  I bawled my eyes out.  Amazing.

Oh... and I am firmly in love with Miranda, as always, and Jennifer Nettles HIT EVERY NOTE in my favorite sexy song from "Love On The Inside" with "What I'd Give".

Jamey and John were great; loved the acoustic setting for them and for last-minute fill-in Blake Shelton, too.

Heidi was off.  :-(

Carrie looked gorgeous but I want to feel more emotion from her.

I love Taylor every single day of every week of every month.  Is she the best singer ever?  Absolutely not.  But she's real and amazing and genius.

Toby, as my girl LT and I discussed, sounds like a billy goat.  He was even shaking on stage.  Weird.  But I love "God Love Her" ... especially since it mentions TUCSON, ARIZONA!!!

Keith is hot.  Love the new album.  Liked his shorter hair.  Thought Nicole looked gorgeous next to him.

Tim and Faith were no-shows after a "creative difference".  Divas.  :-)

I wish Jake had sung.

LadyA are all three great.  Charles... those are some legs.  Whoa.

Reba is HILARIOUS.  Her mouth is funny to watch.

Brooks and Dunn... I love Brooks.  More Brooks, less Dunn.  That's just me.  :-)

Rascal Flatts.... not saying a word.  But I love the video for "Here Comes Goodbye".  Focusing on the positive there.

I thought George looked great and sounded even better than he usual does at award shows.  I'm glad he did Troubadour.  I can't wait to hear back from Shannon after the ARTIST OF A DECADE show tonight... taped in Vegas to air in May on TV.  Should be pretty neat.

I love Lee Ann Womack always.  Cool, bluesy, vibey new single.  Get the album if you don't already have it.  "Last Call" is in stores now.

I liked LeAnn's pink lipstick.

Kenny?  So glad he could dress up for the occasion.  I don't like this new song yet.  Maybe it'll grow on me.  Listen for "Out Last Night" on KiiM-FM.  It'll be on his Greatest Hits II release.

Lewis.
Out.
:-)

Have a great week!!!!
