Recently, someone asked me what my perfect day would be?   I was a little stumped by this question, so I thought of things I'd probably do to make it a perfect day...   well, this week, I had TWO "perfect" days...  not "THE" perfect day, as everyone thinks is elusive, and even working towards it doesn't always bring it about...

See, I didn't realize that you don't WORK at making it the perfect day...  it's one of those things that just happens naturally... the less you worry about it being perfect, the more perfect it will be.   And most folks think that you can never top the "perfect" day...   but I think it's just the opposite...   the "perfect" day is MEANT to be built upon !!!

**What was MY perfect day like, you ask ??  It was filled with laughter, stories of family, smoothies, some sort of mutant lettuce, paint, and shopping!!

So, I took my FIRST cruise last week... first time on a cruise ship, first time out of the country... and I can safely say... I'm hooked !!!

Day One - Figure out that parking is the most expensive part of a cruise ($60 to park at the port).  I was onboard inside of 30 minutes from the first metal detector!  Had to wait for the stateroom to open, so I checked out the Windjammer buffet.  Nothing extravagant, but there was TONS of it!!!   This is where I wound up eating my breakfasts, since the upper level was almost empty, and I could people-watch the lower level.  Got to my stateroom... it measured 10 ft by 14 feet!     Luckily, I was by myself, but if I had been sharing the room with anyone, we'd have been extremely close  (basically, to shower, I just soaped up the wall and spun around)

Day Two - Coco Cay, the private island !!! I was one of the first off the ship, and grabbed my snorkeling gear...  even in the Bahamas, the water was FRICKIN freezing!  Did the island "chill out" thing... got some sun, until lunchtime.  They had an island barbecue...  I loaded up the plate and began the walk 30 feet away to the picnic tables... when BAM!!!!  A white blur hit me, and took off with my hot dog... left the bun just sitting on my plate !!!  It was a seagull  :(   That evening at dinner, my tablemates showed up and began talking about the guy who got attacked by a seagull at lunch...  and I realized they were talking about me!!!    Saw the production number in the theatre; for a moving stage (the theatre was in the aft of the ship, so you could feel the motion), the dancers did an amazing job!!

(Part two coming soon)

I had the BEST weekend I've had in ages...  lots of reasons...  got a lot accomplished, caught up on chores, talked with friends, etc...

I guess the high point was dinner with friends...  it's been a while since we had done that, and the whole night, the table was filled with laughter and the best vibes I've felt in ages!  It was the first time in quite a while where I wasn't trying to "impress" the group ...  I was just being myself, and it must have been hilarious to them as well as me!!

I really enjoy that feeling, and hope that I can learn to be "silly" more often...

Haven't posted in a while... not because I didn't want to, but wasn't sure of what was post-worthy...
I gave up on a dream today!  Is it an earth-shattering end, which will affect my life, career, future, etc ???  No...  it was a wonderful dream, and it would have been amazing to live it, but I will go on... to learn new things, to experience new joys, to live life as it sees fit to throw itself at me!  Those who were along for the ride will forever hold a special place in my heart, mainly for their support, encouragement, and love!
Somebody once said whenever God closes a door, he opens a window...  not sure how that will work out in this case...  maybe something totally different, and yet, just as right, will plop down in my lap!   Maybe the dream I'm letting go will come around again someday...  who knows!?!
The only thing I AM sure of is that RIGHT NOW, this is the right thing for me to do... so, moving on...  who wants to join me for the NEXT leg of the journey?

So, I'll be working a medical convention next week...  it's a Safe Lifting convention, for patient care...  the company I'm representing is Liko, a Swedish company... and they make "heavy-lift" equipment for larger patients.   Even so, I'm the runt of the litter, but I'll be demonstrating their stuff next week!
The last time I worked with them, they had me in a sling rig, and had me flying across the space with the greatest of ease...   it's pretty funny, since I'm a glorified paper-weight, but they're a great bunch, and it will be fun !!!

A lizard was walking through the jungle, when he smelled a unique smell...  "That's POT!" the lizard thought to himself.
Sure enough, he looked up and saw a monkey stoned out of his mind!  He asked what the monkey was up to, and the monkey replied "Got some Killer Bud, man... wanna hit?"  The lizard accepted, and soon he was up in the tree with his new best friend.  Everything was groovy, until he felt a dry funny feeling in his mouth.  The monkey told him "Oh, man... that's just cotton-mouth... you just need to get some water from the river!"
The lizard climbed down from the tree, and went over to the river to get a drink... as he was sating his thirst, a crocodile swam up and asked the lizard what was going on.  The lizard told the crocodile about the monkey and his stash... curious, the crocodile wandered up to the base of the tree and asked the monkey if he could try some pot...
The monkey looked down and said "Sure, man... come on up and....  WHOA!!!!  How much water did you drink ???  "

So, this weekend has been a whirlwind...  crew view with the full cast and crew last night, and publicity photos / light levels today...  still to come tomorrow is the dreaded cue-to-cue!!!
Just a few things we've learned so far this weekend...
1 - Always have a set change planned out in minute detail... a 15 minute intermission will not cover a 45 minute set change!
2 - Gravity is my enemy, and must be avoided at all costs...
3 - Kneecaps were NOT meant to be dislocated !!!
4 - Pink bagels are not bad at all... actors NEVER turn down free food!
5 - Tights are just that... TIGHT !!!
More to come...
