Category: Blogging
I haven't blogged since May! Well...I did blog on my Sackett Forest page at http://www.myspace.com/christophersackett but not on this page.
Been working alot. Just made MVP for this month at work. Isn't it funny how switching shifts and getting away from a certain element could bring up my game at work? I thought so...
Finished recording "2012". Very excited about some upcoming gigs too. My new partner Laura Angel has an amazing voice. It's great writing and recording the music the way I want to as opposed to the ways bandmates tell me to. And Laura is the perfect voice and lyricist for the songs.
You see, I love all forms of music...from rock to country to jazz to the blues. But I have always considered myself a "Jim Steinman". I write and love to perform music that is melodramatic, and "over the top". Kiss, Meatloaf, David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Yes; music that you just keep layering and layering. I recently discovered a band called Sweet Sister Pain. They remind me of The Sisters of Mercy, but even more melodramatic. I love it. Call me the forever goth, but man, why do something half way. Be theatrical. Be dramatic. The music is a trip... Look at Gene Simmons. Listen to the various directions he went with "Asshole". Great album...
Life has been very relaxing lately. Work has been very good even with the long hours but what can you do... Family has been awesome as usual. The kids are getting big. Becky and I are doing very well for ourselves. We've fallen into a "niche" but it's one we like and enjoy. We order out a couple times a week instead of cooking, we watch NCIS all the time, we do stuff with the kids, and we relax when we are not working.
So, I guess, no news is good news. Hence the lack of blogging. I have some political stuff I could blog, but I just don't feel like it. We all know that President Numb Nuts approval ratings are sinking, and the GOP scored some minor victories this past election, so why blog it... Just remember, it's easier to control smaller government. Less wackos in charge. Do we really need all these czars?
Make sure to check out the new music video for Sackett Forest's "The Aftermath". I've been listening to Coast to Coast AM alot again, so I'm once again on my UFO kick. Enjoy it! It's a good song...

I have always said that I have been in over 100 bands. But in reality, it was only 32 bands. I am approaching my 19th year playing in bands. I sat down and thought to myself, which ones were actual "bands". Some just were name changes, membership changes, studio projects, other acts I produced, and most of them, well, they were just jam sessions that never actually became "bands". Let's face it. So many people jam with someone once or twice and say they are a band. That's what I used to do. Well, I sat down to think what projects were actually my "bands". With a goal in mind. Either recording or playing out. Because bottom line is...bands do 2 things, record and write music, or play out live.
So, I came up with a complete list of the 32 bands I have actually been in. And in my myspace photo albums is a complete history of those 32 bands. From Reincarnation, a band that was me and my cousin Erika at the age of 15 (started in August of 1990 when I just turned 15 and she just turned 16) to The Cindie Smith Band (my current project).
CHECK IT OUT AT THIS LINK!
I think it is a pretty acurate history of the bands in my life. Hope my 19th year of playing music is as much fun as the previous years. My 20th year will be a great anniversary then. I have come a long way as a musician. From drums to keyboards to lead vocals and a failed attempt at guitar to finally the bass (which I should of started on from the beginning) I have grown as a musician by leaps and bounds. I can honestly say, I don't suck anymore .

For those that got friend requests for my second band, and then the myspace page vanished. That was me jumping the gun.
Who was I kidding to think I would have time for 2 bands?
So, I decided to just focus on The Cindie Smith Band. I don't have the time for "my own thing" right now. Playing for Cindie works for me...

Warning: The following blog contains extreme conservative Republican thoughts. Do Not Read If You Are Easily Offended.... Wow, I knew the bailouts were going to be a bad idea. And the proof is in the pudding. The President should NEVER have the right to fire anyone that is with a private business. Government business, yes, but to fire the CEO of an auto industry is just step 1 towards socialism. The companies that refused the bailouts, good for you. You saved yourself from putting President Numb Nuts in charge. Once you take that bail out, he can do whatever he wants. This is the first nail in Capitalism's coffin. And speaking of President Numb Nuts (by the way, that is what he is officially called now on my blog. I refuse to type his name), he wants to FORCE Catholic Doctors to perform abortions. Thank you Jim Reith for WSYR for turning me onto this website. http://www.freedom2care.org/All this will accomplish is that good, qualified, Pro Life Doctors, will either retire, or switch practices. Catholic Hospitals will close, jobs will be lost, and you might have to travel a little more down the road for medical treatment because the nearest hospital closed because it was Catholic. First off, Abortion is murder. Plain and simple. Now, forcing Doctors to commit that murder is another step to the end. It was bad enough that stem cell research is getting the wall taken down (one of the better decisions President Bush made) and now the flood gates to humans playing God will open. Funny story, is that right after I watched President Numb Nuts make that announcement, Fox News ran a story how there are less Christians in the United States of America than ever before, sans the Latino community. Thank God Stryper is going on tour this year. I can't wait to see them re-united with original bassist Timothy Gaines!!! And what the H E double hockey sticks is going on with North Korea? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,511965,00.htmlIs the Second Coming going to happen in 2012? Well, most studies show that when Jesus returns, no one will be able to predict it. So, in reality, no, 2012 will most likely just see the re-election of President Numb Nuts, and more bad things happening to our society. Hence why I have sheltered my life as of the recent years. I left wrestling, I play music that is more in tune with my beliefs and pleasures, and I spend 90 percent of my time with my wife and kids. The rest is either work, my 2 bands, or my few friends that I still have. Speaking of my family, if that litter box gets kept up, we may bring another furry baby home. Or maybe we will take Sabre's mommy off of Michelle and Shawn's hands. Right now, that's not looking too promising though Well, I leave you with this...remember, if you don't like what I post in my blog, then don't read it. I always let you know up front if you are reading a political blog, or a personal blog. And I have the right to refuse to post your comments or to approve them, because this is my blog, hence, just my opinion, backed with the facts I can find. Ezekiel 34:16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

Current mood: melancholy
Andrew "Test" Martin was found dead at his home in Tampa, FL at the age of 33. I am 33. Test spent the bulk of his 12 year wrestling career with 1 company, the WWE. He only did a handful of things outside the WWE. I spent the bulk of my 7 year wrestling career, with not 1 company, but 1 group of wrestlers, family, my brothers. Thru ESW, OSPW, and NEW. I did only a handful of things outside of this group when I did NSPW, RWI, CFW, and RCW. And usually, some of my wrestling family was at those shows as well, traveling with me. I watched Test throughout his entire wrestling career. I think he is the only wrestler I can say that for. From being the "roadie for Motley Crue" to being the love interest for Stephanie McMahon, to his "testicles", to T-n-A with Albert and Trish Stratus, to his run with Scott Steiner and Stacey Keibler. Test was a great "supporting role" wrestler. Like one of my favorite actors of all time... Steve Buscemi...Not a lead actor, but he was great in the supporting role, from AirHeads to Resevoir Dogs, to The Sopranos. Just like Test. He was great in roles with Triple H, Scott Steiner, and The Corporation. Yes, Test was short for Testostarone. And it will most likely have been steroids that killed him. But I have had my share of pain killers and booze. Heck, still do. Back injuries like mine and Test's don't heal over night. There is another comparison. So, Rest in Peace my friend. We have never met, and we never set foot in the same ring. But Professional Wrestling is a faternity of brothers and sisters. Even if you leave the squared cirle, like both you and I did, you really never leave...

DEFECT will be opening for CAROLINE BLUE Saturday at Nino's in Cicero.
For those not "in the know" this is my last show with the boys. We are all still great friends, I'm just riding off into the sunset as I want to play more Southern Rock and Country where the guys are going a little heavier and more progressive.
You all know me. My heart is in 4 chords that make a crowd dance. And that is what I am searching for.
They have a great replacement in Shawn, whom is a Sabres fan as well, so I feel confident that you will love the new DEFECT.
As for me, I have been talking with my old guitarist from ROUGH-n-READY and maybe re-uniting with him, but I am still exploring options.
Southern Rock, Country, Classic Rock, etc...if you need a bassist, I may be your man!
So come on out Saturday to Nino's in Cicero across from Walmart for my last show with the guys.
ROCK ON!!!
CHRISTOPHER

I was extremely happy with this Christmas.
First, a few days before Christmas. I get an unmarked package in the mail from Niagara Falls, NY. I open it and it's a collection of Godzilla movies on tape. Original store bought ones. Lenny gave me his entire collection!
Let me tell you who Lenny Revell is. Not the musician. Not the martial artist. But the man. Here is a man who when I broke my back, gave me 500 bucks to pay my mortgage. Here is a man, with God in his heart, who would do anything for those he loves. And now, he sends me Godzilla. What did I ever do to deserve a friend like that!
Moving on the Christmas Eve and dinner at my brothers. MY MOM SHOWS UP!!! She surprised everyone by flying in from Florida. This is the first time in God knows how long that we've been all together for Christmas. Only Dad was missing. I told Dad to tell his boss to screw himself next time, and come up with Mom. Being with the family is what Christmas is all about.
Finally...Christmas morning....BECKY GOT ME A NEW BASS!!! Black Ibanez GTO. Lightweight. Perfect. Sounds AWESOME!!! We did very well this year with Christmas. The kids got a WII, Kiera got a new keyboard for her music, Zach got an eletronic drum pad set, Blaze got the video game he's been searching for all year, and they got a bunch more other stuff.
Now, my Christmas Prayers.
First, I pray for God to take care of Dad Ricci. This is a tough time, and I hope my best friends father gets better. We love you and are praying for you.
Secondly, I pray that my Dad can come up from Florida. I miss my parents alot. They need to visit more. And I need to get Becky and the kids to Florida. We need to go see Dad and Mom's place...and DISNEY WORLD!
Third, I pray for all of my family and friends in hopes that they had a good year. Shawn and Michelle and "my" 3 kids here in Syracuse, Marc and Dee (and Buddy The Lemur) in Florida, Gary in South Carolina/Buffalo, Lenny in Buffalo, Justin and Jen and the boys in Auburn, Jr. and Scotty in Syracuse, my bandmates whom I hang out with every week and their loved ones, Sam and Michelle and the boys, Bert and Johanna and their little ones, Katie and the kids in Texas, Brandon and Elaine, all of my wrestling and music friends, my Rapid friends, and anyone else I missed. Becky and I are blessed with many friends, and close family. I hope you are as well.
Merry Christmas Everyone. And a Happy Festivus for the Rest of Us!
