It's sad to say but even in Seattle Hip Hop is taking over.  Not that I have anything against Hip Hop but it might finally stomp the life out of Rock.  In the nineties bands like Everclear and Offspring kept things going but now all we have is QOTSA (Queens of the Stoneage.)
