The first instrumental band I ever got into was The Mercury Program. It may be no coincidence that they are still to this day, my favorite band without a vocalist.  I was introduced to them when I was touring the country with my previous band, This Day Forward.  Their ep, "All The Suits Began To Fall Off" became the soundtrack of my life.  Its hypnotic pulse still brings me back to taking acid around straight edge kids, sleeping in vans, stealing bagels and all the other ridiculous shit I can't believe I did.  It feels like a lifetime has passed since then and yet it hasn't even been a decade.

I'm moving into a new place this week so I'm forced into a mindset thats one part reflection on the past and another part anticipation of the future.  The thought that I can't seem to shake is that this body(mine) is the same vessel that traveled all of those miles, weathered all of those storms, had all of those adventures.  I feel more like a passenger than the navigator at moments.   Sometimes it even feels like it was a completely different person posing as me or that the current me may in fact be an impostor.  In reality, it's just life, growth and change and I am still just me.  It can be difficult sometimes to accept change but theres nothing better than looking back and realizing that you've accomplished something or grown in ways you always hoped you would.  I remember wanting nothing more but to be able to pay my bills from music, to travel the world and play for whoever would listen.  I know what that is like now and then some.  I remember wishing that I could have enough guts to show people my art or maybe even sell a painting. I'm now making prints of my paintings.  It blows my mind and I am endlessly grateful to everyone who supports us.

The Mercury Program have a new record coming out on tuesday.  From the snippets I've heard they're up to their old tricks and are as awesome as ever.  The sounds have evolved but it's familiar and comforting at the same time.  Its that same vessel.  Navigating through time, taking the twists and turns as they come.  With that said, we've picked the tunes to be mixed for our 3rd album and are continuing our road to releasing it to all of you.  I hope that when we do it will feel new and exciting as well as familiar and comforting.  I am quite confident that it will and look forward to sharing more with you all. Sorry for the ramble, it's been a long long time since I've gotten a good long winded blog in. Feels good. Love you all and talk soon.

I highly recommend this movie. There are some things that go on in the world that you almost don’t want to know about. But awareness is important. It is the only true catalyst for change. The reality of some of life’s dark secrets can be downright crippling. So Is it better to sit by and pretend everything is wonderful and cozy in the world or is it important for each of us to embrace that this is our planet and that we share some responsibility in all that goes on here? I guess that is for each of us to decided individually. Watching this movie though, I am reminded, there will be no to true change until all of us decide to stand up and make our voices heard.

Greetings everyone! We have wonderful news to share with you. After almost a year of writing, we have begun working on our third record in Toronto, ON. David Bottrill, who has made amazing albums with bands like Tool, King Crimson, Silverchair and Moneen, is producing. We couldn't be more excited to be working with him and the songs are turning out beautifully. This is the most time we've ever spent on writing an album and possibly the hardest we've ever worked on anything as a band. We can't wait to share this music with you. It feels like it will be so soon now. After completing our contract with Equal Vision we embarked on a long search to find our next home. We met with lots of labels and decided that Atlantic Records is the best place for us to continue our growth as a band and to help us release our music around the world. Because this is a big step we feel the need to reassure you that we are and always will be the same band no matter what label we are on. We are so grateful for everything Equal Vision has done for us and having their blessing in this next step couldn't mean more. Our friendship/relationship with them is strong and will continue to be so. Over the next couple of months we will be updating our websites with videos and pictures from the studio to let you in on some of the recording process. As we do so we invite you all to take this journey with us. We can't wait to be back out on the road playing these songs for all of you. See you soon, Circa yeah!

I’m posting on behalf of some of our greatest friends and incidentally one of my favorite bands, Portugal the Man.
Their album has jumped the gun. Or more to the point the gun has gone off in their hands without them even pulling back on the trigger.
Portugal the Man are a positive, experimental explosion of art and sound. They tie visual and artistic emotions together so well that one almost seems to be lacking when presented without the other. You owe it to yourself to see them play or at the very least to check out some of John Gourley’s art work.
Their new album is available here.   http://portugaltheman.merchnow.com/
If you love the band, even if you already have the leaked version of the record, please go support them. If you haven’t heard them, you really should take a minute to check them out. Picking up this physical album is definitely worth it. Trust me, I have it and you’re not going to see any artwork this amazing in a layout for some time. At least not until our next record comes out.

I realized it had been a while since we put a straight forward update on here... so allow me to break it down for you. We've been writing/recording demos for our 3rd album. We're slowly turning the corner on this process and Im starting to feel like the core of the album has begun to rear its head. We've had some meetings with some potential producers and the excitement is building. As far as the songs go... there are alot to choose from still and they run the gamut of everything we've ever wanted to be as a band. its gonna be really interesting to see what this collection becomes because of course we're still writing new songs on the daily and each time a new one is born it is somewhat immediately competing with a hundred others for our attention. regardless these are by far our most advanced works. its been a ridiculously odd luxury to have time to truly focus and refine our ideas before entering a studio. in an effort to avoid redundancy im going to end this now with 2 words.... thank you. -colin

How's this song make you feel?  please look up the lyrics.  I heard this on the radio and they don't even censor "fuckin" anymore.  Actually, when I think about it, there are other things that should be censored in this song way before the word "fuckin".  like the entire song

Thank you so much to everyone who came out in Philadelphia and in cities all over the world to take a stand against the on-going war in Africa.  In the past 23 years, there have been over 30,000 children abducted and made to fight in a war that began long before they were born.  Their mothers are often raped, killed or both and still nothing has been done to stop this war.
On April 25th, tens of thousands of people came out in 100 different cities across the globe to sit in peaceful protest in an event called "The Rescue".  My girlfriend and I went to volunteer in Philly and I have to say it was an amazing experience.  The gathering was held in Independence Mall Park, just across from Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was inked.  The location was perfect.  On Saturday over 1,000 people showed up, the majority of which met at Campbells field in Camden, NJ and walked together to the park.  What was meant to be a one night event turned into a two day affair as many people stayed almost forty hours to ensure that the event's most important goal be met.  We were waiting for a major mogul from the area to come out and speak on behalf of the cause. Although, most people didn't really sleep through the first night, the second day truly began at 6 a.m. as film crews from ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX news all showed up with in minutes of each other to cover the story.  The hundreds of people who still remained from the day before immediately rejoiced in dancing and chanting in front of the cameras.  Our voices had been heard.  Over the next few hours the temperature grew quickly to an extremely sunny 90 degrees.  I've dealt with sleep deprivation before but never in sweltering heat.  The effect was somewhat maddening and resulted in a couple of hundred protestors who were borderline insane.  From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. it was up to those 100 insane people to call everyone that they knew in order to find some mogul to come and "rescue" us.  The term had begun to feel very relevant.  At around 3 o'clock there was a breakthrough as one of the organizers was able to contact Bucks County PA Representative, Patrick Murphy's office.  Although it was a Sunday, and he had a full schedule, representative Murphy agreed to come and speak on our behalf.  At 7 p.m. after some people had been at the park for almost 36 hours and awake for more than 40, our rescuer finally took the stage.  Since he was unfamiliar with the subject, (as are most Americans, politician or not), our volunteers wrote a short speech for him to give upon his arrival.  However when they offered it to him he protested saying he would rather speak from the heart.  At this point in my life, as soon as a politician begins talking I can't help feeling like they are an alien wearing a cloack of human skin.  They stare into me spinning expert lies until before I know it I've forgotten I suspected them to be a liars.  It doesn't matter who it is or even if I voted for them.  It's just a default attitude I can't seem to shake.  This speech was no different, I spent a few minutes listening to him speak and wishing I believed everything that he said.  Realistically, I liked everything I was hearing.  Due to his time in the Iraq war where he had lost 19 friends in all, he had returned home determined to find himself a position in the goverment where his voice would matter, and there he would fight for peace on all fronts.  So far so good, but still, if I turn my back he might lunge for my throat, take me back to his planet to use me as fuel for their vehicles.  The one thing that he said that made me really drop my guard a bit was something very similar to this.  "Too many people in congress these days vote one way on an issue because the majority heavily favors it.  Because of the pressure they get from different areas.  I've had people tell me, 'you may not agree but just hold your nose and make the vote.'  People do this because they are afraid to lose their seat.  I don't agree with this position, if I have to go back to being a school teacher when this term ends then I will, but for now while I am here I will do everything I can to stand for what I believe."
That's how this goverment should be run.  Patrick Murphy ended his speech by saying he was on his way back to D.C. the next morning and he would do everything he could to get in the ears of the right people.  To get the ball rolling so to speak.
And this happened in 100 cities across the world.  The whispers are out there and they are growing stronger.
After nearly forty hours of singing and dancing and writing letters to senators and to President Obama we headed home.  Rescued.  We were struck with a very strong sense that we didn't do very much and still we were part of something very massive.  Our presence and our caring were enough.  And I thought to myself, if everyone cared just that much, just that little bit, what a different world that would be.  And we slept...

A friend of ours made a really fun game for the IPhone and we thought we would share it with you.  Jakob is actually one of our favorite artists who we keep in our art lab working round the clock on t-shirt designs, poster designs you name it.  Actually, he and Steve have been talking about making a Circa IPhone app.  good times.  Anyway, just go to the app store and search sea rascals.  It's a great little puzzle game.  See you guys on the high schore board.
