Another stab at the way church happens these days...

Have you ever noticed how time doesn't seem to be as much of a constant as the sciences would ahve us believe?  I mean, sometimes it only takes a minute or two to do something, then the next time, it takes hours.  I don't really know why that is, I suppose that we always have all the time we need, but never as much time as we might want.

I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed by the volume of things that need my attention this summer.  I'm less than 2 weeks out from counseling at a camp and haven't prepared one bit.  That wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that I need to write two sermons (unless I borrow liberally from someone else) next week, along with preparing for the camp and making sure I visit everyone on my list before I head out of town.

So is life.

Hey, I have to remember to share a new metaphore for ministry and life that is tangetially related, but that I don't want to take the time to type out right now.  I expect that will come in a few days.

Well, it looks like there is going to be an ethanol plant built in this area.  It's a shame.  I'm all for renewable energy sources, as a country we Americans are way too dependant on non-renewable energy.  But, there is almost zero corn production in the area, our aquifer is such that the water supplies for several communities will be in danger, let alone the individual wells near the plant, and I have not seen a very good plan for how the company plans to handle the waste from the plant.

Couple that with the fact that I know a good amount about the financial burden that the opponents of this plant have faced, and many people in the vicinity are already suffering financial hardships, and I just cannot be a supporter.  I've heard talk of an appeal of the judge's decision, but can hardly imagine how these hard-working people can afford to mount another attempt at staving off this facility.

It's a sad day in our community.

Ok, so I  tried to post a quick blog late last week and got errored.  That sux.  I'm really enjoying the spring weather and have re-arranged my office so I can look out the window on a beautiful bartlet pear tree.  (One that didn't get destroyed in the ice storm last winter.)

I still haven't gotten out on my bike this spring, but after a while on the trainer last night, I know I need a new saddle.  Man, my sitter is sore!  I also got out and did a couple of miles of jogging/walking this morning.  That was good.  It really got me off to a good start on the day, but I'm gonna need a nap!  I'm going to stop shopping for those areobars and start thinking about a new saddle to ease my aching  (well, you know.)

Not much else going on right now.  I'm just getting ready to work on my Easter sermon and find someway to track my workouts.  Not too exciting, but they have to be done. Oh yeah, and there are a bunch of bulletins to figure out over the next week or so.

Til later.

So, I guess I can be goaded into blogging.  I realized the other day that I started a blog on blogger and wrote all of one entry.  How lazy of me.  So, I'm sitting here today, having re-arranged the office last week, looking out the window at a bright sunny day with a good breeze blowing, and wishing that I had my bike back from the shop.  I took the bumblebee in for a tune-up last week, ordered new running shoes this weekend, and am busy trying to spend more money on ebay than I really should.  I'm itching to get back to training, to get myself in better shape, and get back to racing!

Have you ever had a feeling that you had to do something, and had that feeling so strongly that there wasn't any way to get around it?  That's how I feel about this.  There are a couple of other things in my life have been, or are that strong and I can't imagine not following through.

On a side note, if you are interested, I've started posting audio and text versions of the sermons (when I don't loose the audio :( ) from Sunday mornings on the church's website, and the audio is set up as a podcast.  I suppose I could find a way to "blog" the sermons, and maybe I will soon, so I won't take up so much space with the PDF files on the site.

Anyway, maybe with the spring weather and ordination behind me I can get to blogging more regularly!  Here's hoping!

OK, so it's been forever since I've blogged anywhere.  That sucks, I know.  I'm sorry that I'm not finding the time to get it done.  I'd like to say that I'll do better, but I don't want to promise that and then not follow through.  Like getting Thank you's written for Christmas, or my New Year's Letter...

At any rate, I want to invite anyone who knows me (even if it's just a little) to attend/pray for my ordination to Christian Ministry on February 18, 2007 @ 4pm @ Marshfield Christian Church.

Maybe once that's behind me...  Nah, I doubt it.

BTW, does anyone know how I can send mother nature some Head and Shoulders?  She dandruffed (is that a word?) all over the place and I don't really like it....

Humeur actuelle :  occupé
Ok, this is a wierd request, but I'm realizing that before too awful long I might have need of having a few pictures that I could give to someone for various reasons.  Say I'm going to be a guest speaker and they want a picture for the brochure... that kind of thing.

What kinds of pics do you think I should have done.  I mean, there are some standards, in a suit/tie, in a robe, blah blah blah.  But I want a couple of more casual shots done and can't come up with any ideas.  So, I want to open the floor for suggestions, location, dress, props, etc.

Oh, I'm not going for a spread in Playgirl, so keep ur suggestions appropriate for a pastor, puhleez!  :) TY.

In case you are interested, I've set up another blog outside of  myspace.  It's located at docrevar.blogspot.com.  There's one post already and sure to be more soon.  That post explains what the differences will be between here and there.  If your interested, there will be more of me to read.  If not...

BTW, I just noticed there were 500 views of this blog.  Isn't there something you could be doing?

LOL!

Those of you in Springfield, especially those affillitated with the DoC may be interested to read my recent blog on blogger about a certain well-known pastor in your community...

Have fun!
