Help stop this beautiful piece of land from becoming more poorly thought out, unsustainable housing that will only fatten the pockets of few. There is are few open spaces left and nearly none along our coast.

Chronological look at the fiasco in Iraq, especially decisions made in the spring of 2003 - and the backgrounds of those making decisions - ... all » immediately following the overthrow of Saddam: no occupation plan, an inadequate team to run the country, insufficient troops to keep order, and three edicts from the White House announced by Bremmer when he took over: no provisional Iraqi government, de-Ba'athification, and disbanding the Iraqi armed services. The film has chapters (from History to Consequences), and the talking heads are reporters, academics, soldiers, military brass, and former Bush-administration officials, including several who were in Baghdad in 2003.

MY "GREEN" ORANGE COUNTY BLOG

What's a CSA?

Farms like to describe CSA (Community Supported Agricultural) as a partnership between a food grower and a food consumer. Generally the partnership is between a local organic farm and a community of supporters that together wish to preserve the agricultural life and heritage of their community as well as guarantee for themselves a reliable, healthy and safe source of food.

CSA's were originally created by a group of food consumers who were concerned about their food's safety. They were striving to avoid the ambiguity and uncertainty of how or where their foods were grown. Thus the CSA was born! And now you too can know with certainty where and how your food is grown.

Members may receive a basket of seasonal organic foods once a week or bi-weekly. Members may to pick up the basket from the farm or the nearest drop-off location.

Reasons to purchase produce locally:
  • Farmer Stability - Most farmers are the last ones to be paid and often they aren't sure how much they will profit dealing with conventional produce brokers until months after their produce has been shipped. CSAs offer farmers stability as they are a guaranteed sale and usually much more profitable. Thus, job stability and wages for those who work local farms are also increased.
  • Open Spaces - Supporting local farms by participating in CSA programs will increase a given farms revenue, bettering their chance of not being swallowed up by an excessive real estate developer. This helps to sustain local agricultural open spaces.
  • Produce Quality - Produce from local farms was regulated by local agencies. Not large scale Federal or International bodies which we have little control over. Also, you can visit the local farm where your produce was grown.
  • Fresh Produce - Produce purchased through CSA programs are often picked within a day or two of receiving them. Your produce will have the ability to stay fresher, longer then the Australian orange purchased from your local grocery store that spent days in who knows what kind of transit.
  • Reducing Carbon Emissions - Many produce products are shipped to your local grocery store from around the world. Much of this transit is by airplane. The wasted energy and carbon emissions produced by this transit can be eliminated.

It's also important for people to understand that the federal reserve owners and those who are trying to rule the world invest their money in things that are not effected by inflation. As the average person's money becomes less valuable, we become even more poor when compared to the super wealthy.

MY "GREEN" ORANGE COUNTY BLOG

You may or may not have heard of people filling up plastic bottles with water and sticking them into the toilet tank to conserve water. It's pretty easy. Took me a minute and I now save 1 liter of water with each flush. I couldn't see any difference in the force of the flush with one less liter of water either.

At first, i just laid the bottle next to the float ball. "That's the ticket", I announced to myself with much pride. During the first trial run, the bottle sank with the water level and everything appeared to be going swell. Then, all of the sudden it happened... the Aquafina bottle got jammed between the flapper valve and valve seat. Panic set it in immediately while wasted water spilled out of the toilet system. I remember saying something like, "oh no, this isn't good". I regained my composure and picked up the bottle. After some careful calculations I decided to place the bottle vertically where you see it in the picture below. A 2nd test was conducted. Success! The bottle hardly moved and one liter of water was saved without compromising the efficiency of the toilets flush.

I urge you all to save water and money with this technique.
It's fun and much like an adventure into the unknown.

If you're shopping for a new toilet, there are more efficient models available today and even models that allow you to select how powerful of a flush you need at a given time. As we all know, certain situations may require a little more convincing then others.

Dear Measure "M" & Cal-Trans,

I voted against you Measure M. However like an unstoppable rebel force you passed without my consent.

Now you & your buddy Cal-Trans are back on the streets again. Up to no good. Tearing up Orange County roadways, only to replace them with exactly the same thing.

You make me late to important lunch meetings at Flamingos Restaurant. Why would you do that?

Sure, I understand that the guy being paid $35/hour for holding a "slow down" sign has kids to feed and all, but come on man!

One day you'll be privatized and I'll dance on your grave. Oh yes... there will be trumpets playing & people singing.

thats it i'm done!,

all i can stands.... i'll be adding blogs as the thoughts come & time permits. they will all be about the dumb things people do. I'm not some angry driver type of guy, its just that I observe a lot more people driving then in person on a daily basis like most Southern Californians. enjoy and please feel free to comment your own. i love you all.

ADVERTISING YOUR CHILDREN TO CHILD MOLESTERS
today while driving southbound on the 405 to the old office, it happened again. I saw a parent advertising their children to child molesters. Oh yes. its true. most may not realize it like i do. not that i am a child molester or have anything against them. You can't be too careful not to offend someone these days. So any who... parents who buy the stickers of little families and slap them on the back window of their cars for all to see are idiots. you know the stickers. the daddy, the mommy, the children & sometimes the family pet. Especially with the names. i can just see the child molester. "say there sally, i work with your father ken. Your mom barbie asked me to drive you home from school today. You see, your dog spike is sick at the hospital & they had to rush straight over there to talk to the doctor. Your brother brad & sister brandy are already there."

WHY ARE YOU IN THE FAST LANE?
People driving slow in the fast lane when they could be using any other lane on a freeway. I understand that we all get distracted from time to time and may not realize that we could be driving the same speed in another lane. Thus not blocking cars traveling at a higher rate of speed. Furthermore cutting down on the amount of cars having to swerve in & out of traffic just to get around the man or women who only cares about themselves. It happens so much in orange county because people are dumb & or don't care about their fellow man. During a road trip to texas, I was stunned at how quickly slower moving cars would change lanes as i approached them at a faster speed. I wouldn't even have to flash my brights. Here i flash my brights and often nothing happens. In my opinion its because Texans are better people then us Californians. They care.

CRAZY FIRE TRUCKS
Whats with the people who think a massive fire truck is going to jump the street median? Must you pull over and stop when confronted with what is surely a reckless fire truck captain heading the opposite direction on the other side of a street median? Sure, he's had a rough week and all, but to think that a fireman would unexpectedly crash over a median... Most of the time there aren't even any turns that would entice a crazy fireman truck driver to plow through a street median instead of hanging a Uy at the next left. You know what i think.... I think people like to feel like they're helping the fireman and contributing to society. Not because they feel its the right thing to do, but because it helps them feel good about themselves.
4/10/2007 - Recently, I heard it may be illegal not to stop. If thats the case, well then call me a rebel.
