Our dear friend Van Dyke Parks recently visited Australia as part of a music industry convention held in Brisbane. As you might know Van Dyke has been a long time member of the Silverchair family working with us  on orchestral arrangements for Diorama & Young Modern (his nickname for Daniel has always been Young Modern).

We wanted to draw your attention to some news pieces for those of you who are interested in reading more about Van Dyke's work.

Silverchair have been back in the studio over the last few weeks!

Daniel, Ben & Chris recently got together in a remote studio for a bit over 3 weeks to work on some new songs.

They put down a bunch of ideas & Daniel has since gone away to write and develop the songs further.

The band made a small video themselves as a little special something just for you. There are no release plans yet.

To celebrate 20 years of the Hottest 100, Triple J are asking the question "What is your hottest song of all time?"

Thanks to all of you SILVERCHAIR have featured in the Hottest 100 many, many times over the years.

In last years poll "Straight Lines" had the strongest showing when it hit the #2 spot!

Also featured were: If You Keep Losing Sleep (#30) & Reflections of a Sound (#80).

Other highlights have included "Tomorrow" (#5 in 1994), "Freak" (#13 in 1997), "Ana's Song" (#15 in 1999) and "The Greatest View" (#10 in 2002).

Silverchair and touring buddies Powderfinger took home the gong for BEST MUSIC DVD at the 2008 ARIA Music Awards held in Sydney last night. The deluxe triple disc "Across The Great Divide" DVD features full length live sets by both bands and a behind the scenes doco "Behind The Great Divide". Silverchair's Chris and Powderfinger's Darren were on hand to collect the ARIA and thanked "everyone who came along to any of the shows". They also made special mention to the great work done by Reconciliation Australia.

Triple J release some of the coolest compilations around and their new one 'Live at the Wireless from the Vaults- Volume 2' is no exception. This CD/DVD compilation features live performances from some pretty cool local and international bands. Silverchair kicks off the CD tracklisting with a live version of 'The Greatest View' recorded when they played in Cowra for the Triple J One Night Stand. Order online here.

It was announced in Sydney this morning that SILVERCHAIR have been nominated for two ARIA Awards!!

One is for BEST GROUP (which they won most recently at last years awards) and the other is for BEST MUSIC DVD along with touring buddies Powderfinger for the Across The Great Divide DVD.

Silverchair hold ARIA Award history with the most awards ever - a staggering 19 over their career.

The Awards will be held in Sydney on Sunday October 19 and telecast on the Ten Network.
