INNER PEACE
To have inner peace... try the following;
* Think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experience
* Enjoy the moment...the journey... it's not only about the destination
* Don't judge other people and don't judge yourself
* Don't take yourself too seriously -- love your imperfections. They make you unique
* Let things happen freely rather than trying to force them to happen.
* Risk your heart to love given freely and don't fight the urge to return it
* Appreciate the little things ... they really are what count

The words of the 1960's song were: "Where Were You When I Needed You?, Where Were You When I Wanted You?"
Today I ask the United Nations, the ACLU, Human Rights Watch, The 'Follow the Geneva Convention Crowd', ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, CNN News, U.S. Senator's and Representatives Murtha, Levin, Stabenow, Clinton, Kerry, Pelosi, Kennedy (both Edward and Patrick,) Mc Kenney, Katie Couric, Dan Rather, Wolf Blitzer, and many, many more, "Where Were YOU When THEY Needed You?" "Where Were YOU When THEY Wanted You?"
I'll tell you where they were. Safe in their own soft comfortable beds, in their million dollar plus homes, driving around in their limousines, bad mouthing their President for political points and persuasion among the weakest of heart and mind, or wringing their hands in anticipation over the possibility that they might be able to pull off a win of a few more votes if they could just appease a few more illegal's into becoming voters, or minorities who know nothing but hand-outs for NOT trying to find a job to support themselves, or an exclusive interview.
Not one of these organizations, or individuals lifted a hand or spoke out against the capture of, or the inhuman torture and barbaric killing of two young American Soldiers. Not one called for the immediate release of these two young men. I didn't hear ANY of them pleading for their release, for their lives, for their safety. Nope, they just sat on their overstuffed office chairs, bound in rich leather, and in comfortable surroundings and worried about how the expected deaths of these two soldiers' might gain them more political points, or interviews.
Folks, this country is "Going To Hell In A Handbasket." It's high time to get ready for the next election, and to DEMAND, not ask, that our Representatives and Senators show good cause as to why we should re-elect them, and to show good faith, and support our military services without bitching, or find themselves being recalled and voted out of office. Lets tell the U. S. Senate and House of Representatives that we are voters, that we are watching and listening, that we know what they are doing, and we don't like it. Not one U.S. Senator or Representative has a RIGHT to be in office. Not one has a job that can not be taken away from him or her if he or she declines to listen to ALL the people, and votes for or against a bill not according to the wishes of the majority of their constituents. It's time to take the Special Interest Groups, out of Washington DC, and the U.S.A. out of the U. N. It's time to proclaim that we are going to take America back and re-establish a government by and for the people, not just for a FEW people.
Has anybody heard anyone other than the President say they apologize for the loss of a son, a father, a wife, a daughter, or a husband? I didn't think so.
What happened to those two young men in Iraq should never have happened. But, the people, and I use that term very, very loosely, we are dealing with are nothing short of Barbarians. Yet, we have to treat them with the utmost respect. Excuse my FRENCH, but "BULLSHIT!" Those scum-bags don't deserve to be treated any better than they treat our people. They are sucking up fresh air that someone else could be breathing. They do deserve whatever they get that is short of a War Crimes Trial, hopefully DEAD, and an immediate hanging in the public square when the trial is over.
Can you tell that I'm pissed off? Oh, I am! I am! Boy, am I ever! But, I've got to stop here before I get completely off track and say some things that are personal, and directed toward certain elected officials that I can not legally say. So in closing, I ask you all to e-mail your Senators, your Representative's and tell them that you are very, very unhappy with their overall stance, and let them know what you EXPECT from them if they wish to keep their job.
Yours Truly, "Forever The Patriot" Richard W. Taylor M/Sgt. USAF Ret. (AKA - GUNDOGSNORTH)

If Only There Were More Men Like Him
Your alarm goes off, you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes.
He stays up for days on end.
__________________________
You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.
__________________________
You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at, as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
__________________________
You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
__________________________
You make sure your cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
__________________________
You talk trash on your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
__________________________
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
__________________________
You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
__________________________
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He does not get to eat today.
__________________________
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for months, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
__________________________
You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
__________________________
You are angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He is told he will be held an extra 2 months.
__________________________
You call your girlfriend and set a date for that night.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
__________________________
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
__________________________
You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.
__________________________
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own government and remembers why he is fighting.
__________________________
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of the men like him.
He hears the gun fire and bombs.
_________________________
You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the bodies lying around him.
__________________________
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does what he is told.
__________________________
You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call and write home, sleep, and eat.
__________________________
You crawl into your bed, with down pillows, and try to get comfortable.
He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be woken by gun fire.
__________________________
You sit there and judge him, saying the world is a worse place because of men like him.
If only there were more men like him.

OUR RIGHTS ARE WRITTEN IN THEIR BLOOD
Bloody, beaten and battle weary he holds a musket in his weather beaten hands. Half naked and starving to death, his wounds are much deeper than that of battle but he has freedom in his heart and a will of iron. He stands in the snow at Valley Forge fighting disease and hunger with the scent of triumph in his nostrils...he fights for independence and a home he has almost forgotten. With bullets and artillery shells screaming overhead... he crawls through the mud of volcanic ash soaked in American blood... the smell of sulfur like the gates of Hell and he has a meeting with the devil. His comrades are falling around him by the thousands while his victory is measured in crawling a few more yards. Courage and determination is his only food. Crawling over bodies with the blood running down the hill he stands with his comrades and places the American flag on top of Mt. Suribachi. He stands in frozen fury in the land of the Morning Calm. His feet black from frostbite leaving bloody footprints in the snow leading to a prison camp in Manchuria...the prisoner of a forgotten war. Where he waits to go home to a place he can't even remember. To a place that doesn't remember him. General McArthur said "Old soldiers never die they just fade away" But do they... Or, do they die on Capitol Hill? He left home as a kid to claw his way through the bushes and snakes and mud ... Fighting malaria and foot rot ...his eyes are wide in the dark begging for sight of the enemy... he is freezing cold and in a full sweat as sniper bullets fly past his head. He steps over his fallen comrades creeping slowly through the doors of the unknown at Hue City. He has fire in his eyes and agent orange on his skin. Fighting his way from the jungles to the Citadel to return to a country that disowned him. Leaving him forever lost in a battle of body bags. He stands at the Wall still trying to find his way home. They gave their all. Their coffins are draped with flags that we have the right to burn. We have the right to protest at soldiers' funerals with signs saying "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" We have the right to throw medals on the White House lawn and use that as a platform for the presidency. We have the right to leave this country and side with our enemies during war time and still be allowed to return. We have the right to call our President a murderer for invading a country whose leader murdered his own. We have the right to a fair trial after plotting to kill thousands of Americans. We have the right to say or do almost anything we want... anywhere we want... any time we want. Our American soldiers have fought and died to secure for us these rights. Do you think they are proud of how we exercise them? I, frankly, am ashamed of how anti-American we have become in the only country that allows it. We live in the greatest country on Earth. I will not disrespect the blood of our fallen by taking to the extreme that every day in America is Independence Day. I will stand proudly with my hand over my heart every time my flag is displayed. I will sing God ... yes GOD Bless America. I will give up some of my freedom to homeland security in order to keep our country safe. I will give up my right to know everything the military has planned if it is to be announced on the news to the enemy. I will speak out for the homeless veterans. I will take every chance to thank the Vietnam vets. I will help the children orphaned by our vets. I will vote in every election. From the Revolution to the Middle East.... from the first bugle call ... to final taps... they died for my rights. I will repay them by letting the world know I AM A PROUD AMERICAN. Take my hand, America... They need each and every one of us to talk to our awesome God about His promises to us. While my imagination holds their faces I picture them awake in the night ... scared ... tired and talking to God. I pray there is an angel who will carry my thoughts to them and wrap their heartbeats in a piece of my own soul. I sigh in silenceand realize that sigh is tiny but when God hears it it becomes a prayer. Lord, You hear all that can be heard even when unspoken. You suffered at the hands of Your murderers and healed them with Your own blood because You loved them. I know You can see Your sons and daughters, while You watch the wars in Your land unfold. The land where You made Your promises to us. You are the keeper of all promises and thats what I want to talk to you about. Specifically, Your promises of rest, safety and peace, for our troops. They are tired - hold them in Your precious scarred hands and give them rest. They are surrounded by danger - place Your hedge of love around them and keep them safe. They are troubled - wrap them in Your halo of comfort and give them peace. Embrace them with Your love. Allow them to remember their beautiful country while standing in death and destruction. When they see bandages soaked with escaping youth let their tears cleanse their eyes and their memory. And when they look up at the stars... the very stars that David walked under... allow them to remember how to feel their own heart and know that the darkness they are in will soon be daylight. Place Your sword in their hand to defend their strength. Let their spirit absorb You and not their surroundings. Only You can help them as they sleep in this country that kills its own people. Close their ears to the sounds of war around them... letting them hear only Your sweet voice in their heart. When they cant remember who they are anymore be generous with them as they stand in this land of evil. Place Your mighty hand on their weary heads. Let the distinction between their lives here and there be the same as to happiness and sadness. Let their tears of sadness empty them and fill them with happiness. When they sleep with loneliness and long for homelet them see the face of their loved one lying next to them...feel the arms of their parents. Calm their fears and give them strength and fortitude. And when they leave their tears at Your feet grace them with comfort and rest. When they feel empty and ruined remind them that You are their treasure keeper. When its time for them to come home... Place your hands deep inside them and draw their shattered hearts out into Your light. Help them gather the glittering pieces to light the shadows that will surely follow the home. Remind them that they were are never alone over there because You walked that very ground before them...and they stood on the very earth that You breathed life into. Remind them that they are home. Remind them that we love them. Reassure them that they are heroes. Thank you, Awesome Father, for being the keeper of all promises. Amen (Written by me)

What Would You Do ?? Don't look for a punch line here... there isn't one... Read it anyway. The question here is ........Would you have made the same choice? At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?" "I believe, that when a child like Shay comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes, in the way other people treat that child."
Then he told the following story: Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they'll let me play?" Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging. Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and, getting none, he took matters into his own hands and said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning." In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the outfield. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat. At this juncture, let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball. However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least be able to make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game. Instead, the pitcher took the ball and turned and threw the ball on a high arc to right field, far beyond the reach of the first baseman. Everyone started yelling, "Shay, run to first! Run to first!" Never in his life had Shay ever made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled. Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" By the time Shay rounded first base, the right fielder had the ball. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions and intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward second base as the runners ahead of him deliriously circled the bases toward home. Shay reached second base, the opposing shortstop ran to him, turned him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third!" As Shay rounded third, the boys from BOTH TEAMS were screaming, "Shay, run home!" Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the "grand slam" and won the game for his team. "That day," said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world." (Author Unknown)

THEY ARE HEROES Current mood: contemplative THEY ARE HEROES They sleep under the most beautiful sky on Earth. The stars they wish upon are the same stars that lit David's path. They stand where their friends have fallen... where the earth is soaked red with escaping youth. The very earth that God breathed life into. They include Democrats, Republicans, all races, social status and cultures. They are Americans. The fighting men and women of the greatest country on Earth. They belong to all of us. They are paying the ultimate price to protect us. Be proud of them. Very, very proud. They are heroes...each and every one of them. When you go to sleep tonight... safe in your bed... give this some thought All the way on the other side of the world... in a different world...there are some brave young people with sweaty dirty little faces; a loved one's picture in their helmet, a well worn letter from home in their pocket; homesick and very tired. Yet, they stand strong...wide awake...weapon in hand. Standing guard over our home... making our night peaceful. They are watching over us. Think about that...and say a prayer for them. We owe them (Written by me)

War on Terrorism
When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, remember FIRST that HE didn't start it.... then SECOND think of the following:
FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost Average of 112,500 per year.
Truman finished that war and started one in Korea North Korea never attacked us From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ... Average of 18,334 per year.
John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962 Vietnam never attacked us
Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost .. Average of 5,800 per year
Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent Bosnia never attacked us
Clinton was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama bin Laden has attacked us on multiple occasions
In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, placed nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.
When you hear people complaining about how long the war is taking think about this:
We took Iraq in less time Janet Reno took the Branch Davidian Compound. That was a 51-day operation.
We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.
The 3rd Infantry Division and Marines destroyed the Medina Republican Guard in less time than Ted Kennedy took to call police at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!
But Wait ... There's more! This is an exchange between Senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum when Glenn ran for Senate. This is a typical, though very sad, example of what some who have never served think of our United States Military.
Mon, 26 Jan 2004
Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn): "How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?"
Senator Glenn (D-Ohio): I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard, it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank."
"I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day... to a veteran's hospital and look at those men ... with their mangled bodies . in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job!
You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee... and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job.!
You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags.
You stand there, and you think about this Nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job? What about you?"
For those who don't remember ... During WWII, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA.
Now he's a Senator?
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English thank a United States Veteran.

PLAN FOR PEACE
An unknown author posting to a USENET newsgroup comes up with a perfect plan for peace .. what we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message:
I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan.
The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic and the rest of those 'good ole boys,' We will never "interfere" again.
We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one sneaking through holes in the fence.
All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.
No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.
The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.
Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go some place else They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)
If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to their army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.
Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens
All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer.
The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses." She has a baseball bat and she's yelling, "You want a piece of me?"

If There Were No America
If there were no America, who would have defeated evil in WW II? Who would have torn down the Iron Curtain? What would the world look like today? For that no one can be certain.
If there were no America, who would clothe and feed the poor, yet never ask to be repaid? Who would be willing to help friend or foe, whenever asked for aid?
If there were no America, where would the world turn for hope? Where would dreams become a reality? Who would keep freedom's torch burning, and where would the oppressed flee?
If there were no America, who would stand for justice for all? Where would God's glory be proclaimed? Where would everyone's rights be championed, and where would the freedom of religion reign?
If there were no America, nowhere and no one would be safe; evil would have a license to prevail. All hope would be lost, and every life would be for sale.
If there were no America, the rights of the minority would be vanquished. Dissenting voices would not be allowed. Elections would be controlled and corrupted- individualism lost to the mob and the crowd.
If there were no America, the world would never have known how great a country can be when liberty is its core value and its people are truly free.
If there were no America, the word hero would have a lesser meaning. There would be no home of the brave or land of the free; the Stars and the Stripes would never have flown to help change the course of history.
Let's hope that the world never forgets the one country they can always trust. For where would they turn in their darkest hours if there were no America?
