What a week! 3 WAS gigs in 4 days.

Ramblings

Dublin on Monday......Not quite as raucous an affair as anticipated from the capacity crowd. First date of the UK and Ireland leg of the Back in Style tour. Played a pleasantly surprising number from With Love and Squalor along with the key players from Brain Thryst Mastery. Thank you to whoever threw that hat on stage for Keith (*hello there*). I think Dash made me want to have babies for the first time ever. Looked like they were having fun and their banter is second to none.

Belfast on Wednesday......Sold out ahead of time and there was a bloomin' huge queue when we arrived. Retreated to the balcony like the girls we are. Best decision ever - met Mr Murray himself up there watching Boss Volenti. Undoubtedly the best of the 3 gigs - crowd was awesome, there was an extra song thrown in and it felt like it all flew by in an action packed 10 minutes.

Londonderry on Thursday......Major drive straight after finishing work, made it good time and was looking forward to the closing night of my epic week. Very young crowd (and quite a few eager to make the experience as unpleasant as possible). Another solid night from BV and WAS, with fresh banter and a lot of love for the incredibly hot and sweaty crowd. Headed off on the long road home for work the next day wrecked but with a satisfied glow all over.

Okay last night was the second time I've nearly melted in the space of a week but it's all been worth it! The Duke Special gig in the Empire on Thursday was by far the best gig I've been to in aaaages. Non-stop entertainment from the minute it started. From circus performers to crossing dressing and from good old-fashioned singalongs to crowdsurfing! My face actually hurt fron laughing.

Did a one-handed cartwheel while spinning a football on his finger. Respect.

Then balanced this woman on his head.

A surprisingly good looking bunch even as women :)

Thomas Truax is a legend.

Everyone together at the end...

Don't know if the heat was getting to me but Paul was looking particularly well!

The stagediving finale

What a night. And all for £14, can't be bad.

Oh yeah and I went to Vital on Tuesday....

The Hold Steady were awesome!

The Rumble Strips were pretty damn good too

Oppenheimer were brilliant - really loving them these days!

Not exactly 40 quids entertainment but fun nonetheless!

Glasgowbury :)

A sell out, would you believe it? 1500 folk gathered in the Sperrins. That's approximately a million times the amount of folk that were there last year...
Best festival I've been to. Totally chilled out and the biggest array of age groups I've ever seen together in one place!
Last year...it wasn't exactly a challenge finding a parking space...

This year the car park overflowed out onto the road and up the mountain!

Caught quite a few bands DELORENTOS, John D'Arcy, General Fiasco, The Black Tokens, Nice n Sleezy, Joe Echo, Triggerman, And So I Watch You From Afar, The Jane Bradfords, ETC, ETC

Joe Echo (Ciaran Gribben)

The Black Tokens

DELORENTOS

General Fiasco

Today was the end of an era. I'm no longer an employee of Centra :( Apparently I have to join the grown-up world. Booo. Gutted. To add to my misery I sliced open my index finger on the lovely card they'd all signed for me :(

Consistent favourites, Maximo Park

Love the record but I was lukewarm on them live, The Hold Steady

Suitably impressed, Tokyo Police Club

MON THE BIFF!

Happy memories..

Awesome, awesome, awesome, Bright Eyes

Cheesers

Love, love, love, Air Traffic. Criminally empty tent for them.

Just back from me holidays in Gümbet. Bit of a building site at the minute but close to everything you need to get to in the area. A 20 minute Dolmis ride to the more touristy Bodrum. Dolmis are buses that are literally everywhere you turn. They toot as they drive past and if you want them to stop you just wave. There is no such thing as bus stops, you just get off where ever you fancy. They cost about 60p a trip.

Where I stayed..

Our pool..

Our guard dog, Shumerack..

And my ever trusty guard tortoise..

It's not a hard life..

I've never seen so many of these in my life..

My preferred form of transport...

A local delicacy?

The day I thought the world was ending..

I highly recommend a trip to Turkey, it gets alot of bad press and people have an unjustly negative view of it. All the guys I met were absolutely dead on. Turks, Iraqis and Kurds all working in this brilliant bar which we frequented most nights! >>HERE<<

Some of the guys in question (who all went by english nicknames to save people trying to pronounce their real ones!)

So all in all a brilliant holiday, I can't recommend Turkey highly enough!

Oh!! and I shared a friendly nod with this dude one night while he was enjoying his dinner.>>>>>>>>

05/05/07  - it's the start of something

charged over after work to take up my position as part-time tour guide, full-time rubbernecker.

spent most of the day listening to these two eager children(!)

once we chucked out the viewing public it was time to drink cider, eat pizza and watch soundchecks (oh, and clean shit)....

Seriously,  pinch me!

then i had to run but not before being the filling in a brilliant man-sandwich! (ohhh yeahhh)

dashed to the odyssey for a bit of old canadian-style rock-n-roll!
Seriously gutted to have missed most of the gig but still an amazing amazing day, no regrets!

then mad dash back to find James Nesbitt outside entertaining the smokers!

and our lovely little stall buzzing...

and a nice new window display... (some bargains there I'm sure you'll agree)

then watched Duke Special end the day with a mass singalong of 'Oh Yeah'.

Oh Yeah
it's the start of something...
