I wrote this on a blog but I feel you, the folks at Miss USA pageant, all need to read this as well:
If the Miss USA pageant has anything to do with releasing the photos (as many people suspect, given at least Jacobs and may some others admit seeing the photos before they got released) then it has a lot more to deal with than just Miss California being dethroned or not.
If the pageant wants to insist it is porn and is indeed responsible for releasing the photos, then the pageant is guilty of distributing child porn to the public if the photos were taken when she was 17. And jail time is in order for those folks responsible.
Folks cannot have it both ways. If it is porn, then those who put out for display are guilty of child porn, if it can be shown she took them at age 17. Not just the pageant folks if they are guilty of releasing the photos, but any blog that displays them.
Miss USA folks also has to deal with their image. They gave Miss Rhode Island a free pass for having those pictures in the past, too. So people can accuse them of double standard.
Another issue is the hypocrisy of those accusing Prejean of porn in the past and lying about it now.
If it is porn, then how come none of those folks say the same thing when we get these types of photos on the cover of Sports Illustrated? Or in ads? Even at the pageant, more skin is displayed each lady then any of the photos released so far.
Who are the ones with the real hypocrisy here?
And Miss USA pageant does not have the high moral ground to complain of contract braaches nor about alleging Prejean lied (by standards of today, the photos seen so far would NOT have been considered nudity or even semi-nudity if it is any other person, given I have yet to hear such folks say same about non-porn magazines that have similar covers, so in my view, she would not be lying at all and is correct to point that out).
Where Miss USA folks have zero high moral ground is that right after the pageant, they engaged in personal attacks on Prejean. And that continued for weeks, from different folks from Hilton to Moakler to Jacobs to Lewis. Basically, they are now saying she should be bound by the contract which says she cannot do interviews without their permission.
Here's the problem. Unless they can prove that she signed on knowing in advance she could possibly be attacked publically and repeated by them, then by demanding she be bound by such terms, one can argue that they turn a regular contract into an unconsciouble contract. I am no lawyer, but it comes off as such to me. And really, when they put her in that situation where the attacks are coming from them and celebrities they get to pile on, then what happen is she can say they effectively breach their OWN end of the bargain by attacking her and putting her in position to have to defend herself and fight back against those who smear her.
And in terms of them saying she lied, not just that it depends on what it means by nudity or semi-nudity (when her accusers do not say the same about pictures that show similar or less in other cases), but also we got the issue of these same officials who themselves are no models of truth.
There can be no argument folks like Moakler and Hilton either lied when they said them not liking her answer is reason she lost or they are lying when they say now her answer either way would not have mattered since she would have lost anyways. Their rep Neal claims she lied when she said she was told to apologize, but then turn around and said she was asked to say she did not mean to offend wants to make amends with those she hurt. That is effectively asking not only for an apology, but doing something to show the apology is real. It makes MISS USA officials again look like the liars, not her.
And about her answer- if she means that we can choose gay marriage as if voting, then she is correct. While that is banned in most states, people can still take to the polls when the opportunties arise to choose for it by voting.
And she was asked for her views. She did not have been penalized for that.
The folks showing intolerance are those who attack her for her answers.
And the claim of discrimination based on one's sexual preference is a joke.
Marital laws by nature are "discriminatory" when it comes to morality and sexuality. Otherwise, without morals, married folks can say they are discriminated against for not being allowed to marry when singles can. Those directly related to each other can say they are discriminated against based on the fact that only those not directly related to each other are allowed to be married. Children can claim they are discriminated against since only those at age of conssnt or above are allowed to get married.
See what I mean? Marital laws have restrictions against polygamy, incest, minors getting married with each other or with adults, etc.
Not saying allowing for gay marriage will lead to these things. I don't necessarily think that is the case.
But the arguments use by gay rights activists that morality should have nothing to do with marital laws would indeed lead to those things.
Marital laws by nature are moralistic.
The real case gays can have is to argue discrimianting against them based on who their partners are is immoral discrimination, as opposed to moral discrimination against having partners who are already married or minor, for example.
The bottom line is though her answer represented majority of Americans both in her home state as well as the rest of the USA.
There was no way she could have represented everybody if she have given an answer either way. One answer would have represented the majority, including the President and Vice-President, but displeased the liberal judges. Giving an answer that would please them would have displeased the majority of Americans. Saying she needs to give an answer that represents all Americans is a joke.
It means squat that apparently the judges disagree with her. It was still wrong of them what they did at the pageant and afterwards.
She did not bring in her religion as they charged her. She did not even mention her faith or God or Christian at the pageant (unlike Obama who DID indeed do so, yet he gets a free pass from the same hypocrites who malign her to no ends).
She was asked a question which indeed requires her opinion of which side of the issue the states should go on gay marriage. Merely saying leave it to the states is no answer at all since the question presumes on the states choosing.
Hilton brought politics in, when he asked the question, and religion in, when he accused her of bringing in religion and politics into her answer, saying she had no right to.
Sorry, but the US Constitution had no inherent right to be married in same sex manner (given all the founders wrote or approved of anti-sodomy laws, including Jefferson). But there is freedom of religion.
If her religion is held against her as Hilton admitted to, then Miss USA judges are guilty of discriminating against her on basis of religion. No question about it.
In any job interview where the job is not for religious or anti-religious institutions, basically, the law says one cannot be discriminated on account of one's religion.
The fact that Hilton even accused her of bringing her religion in, when she said nothing about it, shows he knows what religion she has and used that against her in what is really a job interview.
Miss USA pageant folks are putting themsleves in a lose-lose situation with their own hypocrisies, dishonesties, changing of stories, possibly violating her privacies (and if what she did in the past was porn, possibly they are guilty of giving out child porn, too), probably doing their part early on to breach their own end of the contract by attacking her early and often to the public, interviews, blogs, etc.
And let me address the asinine attacks on Prejean for allegedly being a hypocrite. If she had preached against modeling in ways that show one's body and go out and do that thing at the same time, then one would have a case to do accuse her of hypocrisy.
If she had decide to marry a woman, then one can accuse her rightfully.
But what does what she did years ago have to do with her stance now? Nothing.
Proving that she is a sinner in the past does not prove she is less of a Christian or a hypocrite for saying she is a Christian. Even proving she is sinless now does not prove she is a hypocrite or less a Christian.
To be a Christian means one believes oneself is a sinner in the first place and thus needs Christ to die for that person's sins at the cross. Inherent to being a Christian is admitting one is a sinner. Christians do not deny they are sinners before or after they believe; they just state they are forgiven once they believe.
Nor do Christians hold to the Bible teach that once one becomes a believer, one cannot stand for biblical morality if one is not sinless now or has a sinful past. If that is the case, then that would disqualified everyone, but Christ. The Bible does not teach that, nor does Christianity. In fact, the Bible states that if we deny we are without sin, we are liars, and the truth is not in us.
Christians believe we are to strive to grow and not sin, but knowing when we fall into sin, as long as we believe, which entails we repent, God forgives us. Having a moral standard to live by does not mean one is a hypocrite of one fails to live up to it.
Those who accuse her of ignorance based on her past reveal both their ignroance of Christianity and possibly their own biases against Christianity, that hardly reflects what Christianity is.

but still very wrong-headed about how they handle themselves: http://www.myspace.com/shannamoakler "But I want to explain to the masses, what the TITLE of Miss USA stands for to me, and being a former Miss USA, I feel I have a pretty good sense of it. Miss USA travels the world and she competes at the Miss UNIVERSE pageant as a representation of her country. She is a ambassador, a role model and needs to be able to show diplomacy on all issues. sadly for California THIS is where we lost the crown. Not for her answer or even her beliefs, because again, sadly IN California her beliefs at this point in time are the majority. But she lost the crown because she wasn't able to convey compassion for ALL the people that as MISS USA she would be representing. and if YOU like it or not, gays and lesbians make up this country as well. THIS is why we have judges so they can find the RIGHT woman who obtains these qualities. they are crucial in my eyes when holding a honor and title as big as being Miss USA. The panel of judges was qualified and did their job, they represented all of us, men, woman, black, white, gay and straight." First off, Shanna writes in such a way that is self-contradictory, the very thing the judges (and their defenders) accuse Miss Cali of doing. She says Carrie did not lose because of her answer, but for lack of compassion in her answer. What? That is double talk. It is in fact saying she did not like the contestant's answer and that is reason why she lost. And on top of now, we have these judges denying she would have won anyway, even if the answer has pleased the judges, on grounds she lost in other rounds. That calls into question credibility of the judges, including Shanna. Secondly, the standard this judge wants Carrie Prejean to hold up to is truly ridiculous. She stated that the contestant should have stated in such a way as to represent all people. Does the fact Obama and earlier before him, Clinton, being for the idea of marriage only between man and woman, disqualify those Presidents from being Presidents to these liberals since by that logic they don't represent all people? Does that mean because they say the same thing as Prejean did that they lack compassion for all people? No. It means they stated their opinion that is traditional on what marriage is, and that is viewed the same way by the majorityof people in this country and quite frankly worldwide. There is no way with a question like that she is going to please all Americans with her answer, given the issue is divisive. If she has stated leave it to the states, it would have avoid answering the question completely, the very excuse one of the judges use to say she deserve to lose! The bottom line is that her answer was not uncompassionate whatsoever. She did not attack any person or group for being gay. She did not make fun of them or even mention them. She simply give an opinion on what marriage is in order to answer the question how the states should define marriage. If folks don't like such an opinion that the majority of Americans do agree with, don't ask! Period! It is in fact to me the judges are showing lack of tolerance for her views, and lack of compassion for her knowing that she has Christian background, and still ask her that anyway, wanting her to either betray the morals she was brought on, or otherwise be attacked for it. And yes, she was attacked by three judges for it. Shanna revealed her true agenda when she said she wanted Carrie to visit a gay rights group because she hurt those folks with her remarks and be quiet to the media, while folks like Hilton and his types continue the cheapshots on her. All because she said marriage is between man and woman? And that is hurtful? Sounds more like some folks are making up their own definitions of social grace. It is not lack of social grace to believe and state marriage is between man and woman. How come all these attacks on her for saying that but the Presidents, whose views matter more to the nation, get free passes for saying the same things? And Carrie is not supposed to say anything to the media but others who disagree with her can?

The person tolerant here on this issue is Miss Cali, Carrie Prejean. It is not the judges.
Tolerance implies different of opinions. It means we can disagree but do so in an agreeable manner. Miss Cali did precisely that. She give an answer where she said marriage is between man and woman but she still is proud that we live in a nation people can choose what they want (though not wholly accurate since most of America still banned gay marriage, it was showing alot of tact).
On the other hand, the judges say she is wrong for bringing in her politics and religion into the pageant, when after all, she was asked a question that strikes into the heart of politics and religion. If you don't want either brought in, don't ask these types of questions.
But when you ask these types of questions and cannot take the answer with descending into namecallings and insults and saying she has no right to state a simple statement that is traditional in view of marriage being between man and woman, the ones who are intolerant and lacking utterly in any form of social grace are the ones attacking her.
Hilton and his defenders cannot disagree in a way that is agreeable.
Carrie, on the other hand, did not respond by calling them names back but show Hilton love by praying for him. She turned the other cheek.

going verse by verse, chapter by chapter coming soon.
God bless all here.
Let's begin.
Chapter 1 1Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God
We are introduced to the author of the epistle to the Romans, the apostle Paul. He described himself as a servant of Christ Jesus. What is the biblical definition of servanthood? We are given examples in many parts of the New Testament. We are reminded by Christ that we cannot serve both God and money at the same time, for example(Luke 16:12-14). Also, Christ compared those who serve Him to unprofitable servants, in that servants are doing what their Master tell them and they cannot demand thanks from their Master for telling what to do(Luke 17:9-11). According to Christ, servants were expected to bear fruit of what were given them, lest even what they don't have be taken away from them as well in the end(Luke 19:11-26). We are told that as servants, we cannot be greater than our Master, which is Christ, so since the world persecuted Christ, we can expect persecutions as well in His name(John 15:20). Servants of God are not out to please men, but God(Galatians 1:10), and they will endure for the sake of fellow believers in Christ, according to the tasks God gave them(1 Corinthians 3:5, 2 Corinthians 6:4). But the greatest examples of servanthood is in Christ Himself. He washed His disciples' feet as example of how disciples should serve one another(John 13:8-15). His greatest act, as an example for us on what servanthood means, was in His laying down His life for our sins, and that was when He being God took the form of a servant to do so, in humbling Himself before God the Father, even on a cross where He was crucified(Philippians 2:5-11). So what does it mean then for Paul to be a servant of Christ Jesus. He was a servant of the greatest Servant of them all, Christ. He was willing to endure all forms of hardships for the sake of fellow believers and for the sake of the gospel to go out to the lost. He was willing to do all he could according to what gifts and skills God gave and entrusted him with to preach the gospel that he was called to preach. That is tied in to the next part of the verse, which speaks of him being called to be an apostle. Let's first deal with what it means to be called. We have examples like Romans 8:29-30 and 9:22-24, where being called refers to those God saved. 2 Peter 1:5-10 also speaks of us making sure our calling and election, telling us that for us to be assured of us being truly called, we need to continue and remain in the faith. We are also told of a calling in broader sense, in regards to the whole humanity in general, not of whom are saved, for as Matthew 22:14 states, many are called, but few are chosen. But there is another sense of what being called means. In this case, Paul was not merely called to salvation, but also had a calling in terms of service for Christ. This form of service for Christ is called apostleship. It is what this passage had in mind in regards to his calling.

It is simple really.
The fact that we exist is positive proof God exists.
Think for a second why our very existence and our lives are a miracle.
Atheists, or those who deny existence of God, say that it is not reasonable to believe there is some supreme being who can supernaturally create everything out of nothing.
But think of the alternative atheists are suggesting.
They are suggesting we come from nothing, without any divine or any intervening power to guide us into existence.
How reasonable is that?
If atheists object to anything they see as miracles, then they are actually really rejecting their own beliefs that we come into existence by ourselves from nothing.
Think of this scenerio: suppose a baby just one day exists from thin air. Would any atheist believe that if he or she hears the news? The answer would be no.
Then how can atheists believe we come from nothing out of thin air totally uncreated?
If we exist out of nothing and not without any guidance from some intervening higher power, then atheists actually are advocating a much more unreasonable miraculous way we come into existence.
Our existence testifies to the fact God exists and that God created us.

Nope, not talking about liberal Christians either.
I see it especially among those so-called conservative Christians who hold to extreme form of classical dispensationalism. I don't see classical dispensationalism as extreme. What I see as extreme is those who hold to anyone disagreeing with it is antisemitic and replacement (something I believe good classical dispensationalists are embarrased by in regards to actions and attitudes of some of those who hold to their endtimes beliefs).
I see that mindset as insidious and to be honest, stupid. Juvenile and infantile does not begin to describe both the mindset and the attacks that result from those with this mindset directed at anyone who disagreed with their narrow mindsets.
In their narrow mindsets, the reason people don't hold to same views as they do is because they despise or dishonor the Jews. In other words, according to these arrogant folks, people who don't hold to the same endtimes views as they do are the ones being arrogant against the Jews.
Even if those being attacked hold to the Jews will be redeemed or even that the Jews will one day become firstborn in God's plan. That is because according to the race baiters, one have to hold to their endtimes version of the race baiters on how the Jews will be saved.
According to these race baiting, divisive folks in the church, that fall under the warnings Paul against divisive brother to be warned then cast away if he does not heed, unless one holds to the Jews will one day be center of God's plan, one is practically antisemitic.
In other words saying Jews and gentiles are equal under God's plan is antisemitism!
Basically, it makes mockery of real cases of antisemitism.
I don't have a problem with folks who hold to the Jews have a special place in God's plan. I do agree with that to a certain degree.
But to cast fellow Christians off as racists because they don't hold to that is downright wrong. It is dangerous.
The reason it is dangerous is because it trivializes real cases of antisemitism.
Antisemitism does not hold to Jews and gentiles are equal. It holds to Jews are worse or less than gentiles on account of being Jews.
So the race baiters deserve scorn for playing the race card over endtimes issues.
They trivialize antisemitism to the level of the boy crying wolf. And you know the story: after a while people willl stop listening even when the real case does occur.
That is why race baiters like them are dangerous. Not just dangerous in how they slandered and falsely accused other Christians.
But they also a danger to the very Jews they claim to love and protect. (In actuality, they claim to be the only ones to love and protect the Jews, which show the level of unprecedented naivete that reaches their mindsets.)
The danger is like I said in that if people stop listening when real cases of antisemitism occurs as result of these race baiters, in the long run, it does hurt the Jews.
And what also makes them dangerous is their ability to cry and play victimhood to unparalleled degree when their actions are called out for what they are, race baiting. Then all of a sudden, those who had enough and defend themselves by pointing these things out are told they are being divisive and being hateful.
It speaks volumes about these race baiters and their character, or I should say lack thereof.
I normally don't post this harsh on my board.
But these folks need to be warned against.
They are spiritually dangerous folks, believe it or not.
They are wrong to accuse everyone who disagreed with them of rejecting future for Jews or seeing Jews as to be treated with contempt. Alot of those they accused, whether it is postmillenialists or progressive dispensationalists do hold to future for Jews.
If they have issues with the details of endtimes, deal with it on Scriptural basis, not race baiting.
By race baiting, they cut off all reasonable biblical debates and make it personal.
They are truly the hateful folks in the church.
Let's not just look at the liberal race baiters who scream racism on a whim. Look at some of the so-called conservatives as well.

I think these two are examples of our rights and liberties as citizens being violated. Here is why. The fifth and fourteen amendments provided against government encroachment on our right to property without due process of the law. Right to property is listed along with right to life and liberty as rights we are to have unless by our own criminal actions, we forfeit those rights. The founding fathers would have been horrified at how big our government have become.
Basically, with property taxes, the person who owns the house is virtually punished for using his or her own money to buy a house, to own that house, and to keep that house. They are made to paid taxes based on what the government sees as the worth of the house minus whatever laws that allowed for some reduction in the taxes (like in Florida, we have the save our homes amendment). Basically, a property owner has to pay for paying for his or her house.
I think imminent domain is worse. The property owner has no choice when it comes to the government deciding to take the person's property. The now ex-owner also has no choice as to what he or she can be reimbursed with as a result. The government decides that. If it was done by a private citizen to another, it would have been considered theft. Imagine a robber forcibly removing something of value from you then telling you later to take a certain amount of money for it, and you don't have a choice on how much really that property you lost is worth to you. It is theft in pure forms.

On the Western Front... The Germans launch Operation Gelb, the offensive in the west. Army Group C (Leeb) holds the German frontier opposite the French Maginot Line while Army Group A (Rundstedt) makes the main attack through the Ardennes and Army Group B (Bock) makes a secondary advance through Belgium and Holland to draw the main British and French forces north. During the day, Army Group A strikes, with three armored corps in the lead, heading for Sedan, Montherme and Dinant. The advance is rapid and the little opposition, mostly French cavalry, is thrown aside. To the north, Army Group B carries out parachute landings deep inside Holland which do much to paralyze Dutch resistance, while German units cross the Maas River near Arnhem and the Belgian fort at Eben Emael is put out of action by a German airborne force which lands its gliders literally on top of it. The fort is meant to cover the crossings of the Albert Canal nearby and this is not achieved. The Luftwaffe gives powerful support. At the end of the day the German advance has gone almost exactly according to plan. Meanwhile, the Allied Plan D provides for the French 1st Army Group ( General Billotte), consisting of the British Expeditionary Force ( General Lord Gort) and the French 7th Army (General Giraud) to advance to the line of the Dyle River and the Meuse River above Namur, to be joined there by the Belgian forces and on the left to link with the Dutch. General Gamelin is the Allied Supreme Commander and General Georges commands the armies on the French Northeast Front. The Allies react quickly to the German attacks as soon as they hear of them from the Belgians. By the evening much of the Dyle line has been occupied but the troops find that there are no fortifications to compare with the positions they have prepared along the Franco-Belgian frontier during the Phony War period. Some of the reserve is therefore committed to strengthen the line. Some of the advance forces of French 7th Army make contact with the Germans in southern Holland and are roughly handled. In Britain...Churchill visits the King and officially takes office as prime minister. In Norway... British forces are sent south from Harstad to Mo-i-Rana to join the small units trying to delay the German advance to relieve the Narvik force. Some of these units are now engaged at Mosjoen. In Iceland... British troops land on the island. They are the advance elements of a force which is to set up a destroyer and scout-plane base to help in the convoy battles in the Atlantic. Equally, they will prevent the Germans using the island to aid their U-boat campaign.

Members of the anti-war group Code Pink gathered Friday with a cauldron of flowers outside a controversial Marine Corps Recruiting Center in Berkeley, Calif., to use witchcraft to rally against the Iraq war.
Code Pink members unfurled a pink banner reading "Troops Home Now" and waved signs as they began the protest, which they promised would include incantations and pointy hats for a "witches, crones and sirens" day.
"Women are coming to cast spells and do rituals and to impart wisdom to figure out how we're going to end war," Zanne Sam Joi of Bay Area Code Pink told FOXNews.com.
A few women stood outside the recruiting center Friday with signs that read "Peace" and "Warmongers — Eating Our Children for Profit." Many wore pink T-shirts.
Others pulled out a cauldron filled with flowers from a car draped with a pink sheet.
Members of the pro-troops group Move Forward America came armed with packages of salt, which they spread around the recruiting station to keep the Marines safe from spells. The group's Web site implored members to bring brooms to "mock the anti-American witches of Code Pink."
Police kept guard outside the recruiting station to keep the peace.
Code Pink's protest capped a Mother's Day week's worth of themed protests, which included days to galvanize grannies and bring-your-daughter-to-protest. The planned events appear to have done little to boost the protesters' flagging numbers.
A FOX News camera, which has a 24/7 live shot of the recruiting center's front door, recorded little action, and the gatherings have, until this point, been ill-attended.

In February, the Marine Corps Recruiting Center was the site of fierce pro- and anti-war protests. It made national headlines when Berkeley City Council voted to send a letter to the recruiting station advising the Marines they were not welcome. Council members later moderated their position, saying they oppose the war in Iraq but support the troops.
Code Pink — which was given parking and noise permits by the City Council and is allowed to protest during the recruiting center's business hours — has been protesting daily since September.
The group frequently announces bizarre theme weeks in front of the office, but its members' numbers have been dwindling and the events get little media attention.
Now, after three months of continual protest, their actions barely capture the attention of even the Marines at the recruiting center.
Capt. John Paul Wheatcroft said he's unfazed by Code Pink's antics.
"They're always in pink and wear funny things, half-shaved heads, one side with hair and the other one bald," he told FOXNews.com. "Yeah, I'm pretty much used to anything."
Code Pink said that grandmothers did show up for Monday's protest — some more than 90 years old, some in wheelchairs — and began knocking on the door of the recruiting center.

"The grandmothers were here and tried to get recruited," Joi said. "They tried to have conversations with the Marines, but the Marines were too scared to talk."
Wheatcroft, who was the Marine on the other side of the door, said he was not afraid of the grannies. He just didn't open the door.
"Most of the time they are just practicing their right to protest and their freedom of speech or whatever, so it's not usually a problem for us," Wheatcroft told FOXNews.com. "But sometimes it crosses the line, and that happened [Monday] when the grannies were here blocking the entrance and banging on the door."
On Tuesday, Code Pink's theme was "fierce mothers raging against war," Joi said, to talk about all the mothers killed and raped in war. Wednesday's theme was "bring your daughter to the protest," where daughters explained why they don't want their parents fighting the war. Thursday was "sisters don't allow sisters to live in war zones" day, and the week was to wrap up Friday with "witches, crones and sirens" day.
Code Pink isn't the only group that has seen numbers drop amid rallying around the Marine recruiting center.
Kimberly Wagner, Berkeley College Republicans activism chair, who is dating a Marine, said her group has been trying to keep up a presence outside the center since Feb. 13, when Code Pink's parking permit went into effect.
The college Republicans are fighting to acquire the same parking permits that Code Pink has. A resolution to grant the group an equal permit will be entered and voted upon in the May 20 council meeting.
Wagner said showing up to rally is especially hard due to final exams, which begin on Monday, but she said she will be there — this week and every week — "as a reminder to Code Pink that not everybody agrees with them."
When asked if she was planning any special events to counter Code Pink's theme week, Wagner said: "We try not to do anything embarrassing." She added, "We're just going to stick with our regular thing because we have lives and they don't."
But if events this week are an attempt by anti-war protesters to remarket their cause, the Marine recruiters in Berkeley tell FOXNews.com that Code Pink's presence outside their office has helped — not hindered — their mission.
"Ironically, it's actually helped us by putting our name out. We're now well-known. And people know who we are, and where we are, and they come in to talk to us about enlisting. They've gotten us the publicity that we could've never afforded to pay for ourselves," Wheatcroft told FOXNews.com.
"Just in the last three weeks, 10 people came in looking to apply, looking to become Marine officers, and that's much higher than normal," he said.
Wheatcroft could not give exact figures on recruiting numbers, and officials at the Marine Corps' national headquarters did not respond to repeated requests for information.
As for what's brewing outside his recruiting center this week, Wheatcroft responded, "I think witches won't shock me, but it'll be a change of pace, so that's nice.
"Do you think they'll bring their cauldron?"
