The radio was delivered at 11am this morning. Of course i was on my way out the door, when i got home at 1pm i started to set it up. When i got it all hooked up i turned on 20m and found a station that was calling CQ. I made the contact and he said i had a nice sound and a good signal, gave me a 5/9. Then i looked up his call on QRZ and was stunned.

Of course it was time to read the 129 page manual, i made it to page 35 and said "screw this" and fired the radio back up. I have been playing with it all day and i just made another great contact about 15 min ago.

Then i checked into the GA SSB net on 3975, tried to hit the SC SSB net but stations close to me were drowning them out. I heard a few folks i knew ok but net control was in the noise. So i just said the hell with it and decided to post a blog.
The radio showed up in 100% condition and not a scratch on it. Does not have that new out of a box smell but thats ok, a least it didnt smell like anything at all. Shipping was fast and the seller i would recomend again.

Well i have bought a semi new FT-950, this is a big surprise for me due to the fact i am not a big fan of Yaesu. But after serious consideration and investigating i have found that this is a hell of a radio. I have actually been looking at this radio for some time now, it has been around for about a year or so. This is a serious hunk of equipment with fantastic roofing filters and many bells and whistles. I will need to build a new cable for my SignalinkUSB and i will control the radio with HRD. (Ham Radio Deluxe) Unfortunately my old Kenwood TS-440s has finally gotten to the point that all that works on it is 40 and 80, it may still work on 30, i haven't bothered to try yet. The 440 took a drastic dump on me with the common dots and distorted audio issues that are inherant with all of the 440s. Since this is a 25 year old radio i have decided not to mess with it and just get a new one.
Here are the Ebay photos of the rig, i do not have it yet, i am hoping by the middle of next week it will be here.

As soon as i get the rig and set it up i will be taking better pix of it and they will be posted. Cross your fingers that it gets here safely and is not a lemon. I will be seriously pissed and may have to do personal harm! Dont ask what i paid for it, cheaper then new and a bit cheaper then the going price, but i did seriously waste my wallett, it is on life support now...

It was 3AM, I was just about asleep when my mom decided to walk the dogs. She opened the front door and Orbit took off like a flash of lightning. Before she could utter a word to stop him it was all over. I guess he knew this thing was outside and that's why he wanted to go out. As he started to chase the skunk it let loose a blast, lucky it did not hit him in the eyes but it did catch him under his chin. I heard my mom yell so I opened my eyes, moments later I smelled the distinct order all the way up in my room. At that point I uttered the word "SHIT" and started to get up. At the same time my mom called up to me fearing she was going to wake me up but she had no choice. I initially smelled a skunk smell, as I went down stairs the secondary and true smell hit me. So we got out a multitude of items and started to wash him. I stuck him in the tub and we both started to scrub. We used industrial strength mouthwash, dog shampoo and fabreeze.. I don't know if you have ever smelled the true order a skunk puts out, it is not the general smell that everyone is used too.
This was a new experience for me, the stench was paralyzing, it was an order that instantly choked me almost out. A simple skunk smell would have been fine, but this was something horrid. As I sit here writing this my stomach is still churning and I feel sick, I have now drenched my dog in 2 different colognes. I started with Aramis and worked my way to others. We had to spray the house down as well. The order from outside is also coming into the house as the entire front yard is covered with this putrid stench. It is now 4:45AM, maybe i can try to go to sleep. PS: Zulu was right behind him but did not get hit with much if anything at all.

My stupid dogs decided while i was lugging shit up to my room, they would walk themselves. They left, went over the hill, walked up the front steps to the Demaest Police station, (Officer) Billy opens the door, the dogs walked in and stared to play with all the people.
My phone rings, i see it is the set of police numbers, i remember these numbers, they tell me to come get my stupid dogs.
We get downtown and the dogs and all the people were in the court room playing and eating treats having the time of there lives.
I have great dogs, not to bright sometimes.
Gotta love it!
