I had to do a presentation on an art piece so I chose this one, and figured why not share it here as well

Prominence Element by ~Morales121 on deviantART

The digital image I produced named “Prominence Element” at first appearance appears to be three unique celestial bodies floating in space with an aura connecting the three. The planets all stand out in the darkness with a unique feature about them that differ from one another. The red planet the largest yet most secluded from the others has much more darkness consuming it than the others but light still shines on the outer sides, and along the surface is are red clouds that appear to show the planet’s inner turmoil. The yellow planet has many cracks along its surface similar to Earth with its tectonic plate system that keeps the Earth constantly reshaping it’s self. The yellow planet is placed in front of but close to the blue planet which has an element of water encompassing the surface. The blue planet has a lot of motion but yet there seems to be a tranquil element about it. All three seems to be drifting in space but not orbiting anything in particular, lost in space. What may come to mind “What does it all represent?”....

While creating this image I was feeling a sense of optimism. I started to reflect on segments in my life including my past, present, and future. The vast amount of space with no star for these planets to orbit around was a representation on how there was no clear set order in my life. The red planet was a representation of my past where several events and circumstances had happened that caused me to be angry with the world and secluded from people. The yellow planet was a representation of my present place in time where I am learning more about myself day by day due to circumstances and events that happen. Change is bound to happen, similar to Earth which is constantly reshaping its structure to adapt to change within its environment. The blue planet is a representation of my future where any wisdom gained will be applied to an ever-growing and shifting world, but there will be a peace knowing that everything will flow with one another. These personal elements made up the tone for each aspect of the image.....

The overall tone of the entire image was contemplative or deep thought. The contrasting planets can bring one to ask why they are here and how they connect with another. Each of the planets portrays their own tone but they still fit into the environment’s overall tone. The image is meant to have one think about the bigger picture as opposed to one facet of the image.....

My intention was to convey the three contrasting events in my life without giving away that it was about me. To some people it was meant to be just another space scene to others it would represent something more. I was looking for a way to represent my life in one image and space was one of the ways I found that could relate to general life. Due to unknown events that happen every second in the universe I feel it represents our daily lives and the unpredictability we experience day to day. Time had to be intertwined with it somehow but I did not want this to be the focus of the image or else the other elements would have been drowned out.....

In conclusion this remains to be one of my favorite images due to how much it still brings me to think about my past, present, and future. Time and the events in life were compared against space to portray unpredictability and the universe happened to be the model I used. This image took two days for me to make and at first did not have much thought put into it but after trial and error this is the final product that was created.....

Simply put in the last four months my have been opened to a new perspective of what leadership is. In order to be a true leader you must be held to a higher caliber than those you are leading, you must be concerned for the safety/wellbeing of your people yet at the same give up what is comfortable to you for sucess of the team. You must keep in step with the peoples tempo and not to your own. It is critical you have a clear goal in mind so your people do not become discouraged or doubtful in your ability. You must be the one to take responsibility for any downfalls that may happen. A true leader will stand there in the face of adversity. Your peoples opinion matters, do not let a little power bring you on a power trip, If this happens you have lost your bearing as well as your ability to be the Leader your people needed...To be continued

What is the true meaning of the word "nigger" aka "nigga". In the past in was known to be an ignorant person, but in the present we are under the illusion that somehow this became another word for brother. Why is it that we feel we turned the word into a term of endearment. This is nothing but an excuse, the word itself is still true to its meaning: completely ignorant. Ask yourself a question why is it that you take pride in saying this word… the answer is simple, we feel like us as black people have exclusive rights to this word, white people get a thrill out of saying a word they are not "supposed" to speak and now everyone is just throwing it around and grinning when we speak it, similar to a child’s game between blacks and whites.

We say the word because supposedly we can and somehow made it into the word "nigga" or bro, but somehow when a white person says the word it becomes offensive and he is simply repeating the same thing you were calling yourself 5 minutes ago. Black people say this word because others can’t, if everyone was saying this openly with no repercussions, the term would not be used in the way it is. We are still ignorant for saying it, notice the people who still speak this word are normally rebel conformist both either white or black and are always trying to throw it in each other’s faces, though in the end there is never a victor, as a result both parties wind up being ignorant, wasting their time and showing just how disrespectful they really are. In the current mainstream this word is used in the media and if you pay attention closely to the ones who use nigga to an advantage, are always people who are uneducated, violent, and misguided; whether they are adults or children.

This word honestly has not changed in meaning, back in the civil rights movement the word was used to describe black people who were progressing. White people are looked at as ignorant for using such a hateful word as a term to describe a race of people. It would seem that we could not learn from history, black people use this word to describe themselves a race of people. No matter how successful I am in life I will be branded a nigga by my own people because the color of my skin. Think about it, in reality nothing has changed except now we are the ignorant ones for using the word as a description of ourselves instead of white people. Next time you are just hanging out or relaxing just observe don’t speak just listen, how many times people will say the word nigga to describe someone and look at how ignorant they will sound… Just remember a word is only as powerful as you make it the word nigga in its present state is a powerhouse, stronger than any other insult due to how much it is used. My name is Joshua A. Morales, and I am far from a nigga, I am myself and I will not let a word be the description of who I am; no matter who says it to me….

Greed, when we think of this word we think of corruption, ravenousness, and power. The path of greed always leads to desolation and normally we end up worse off than we were.  Some may say that they are not greedy but there is always a small tint of it within us, it may be obvious in some and it may be just about untraceable in others but it is there. There is a level of greed in each one of us, it’s just a matter of how much self-control we have over it. There are those who can accept their living conditions, there are those who want to make it better, and then there are those who want the best of everything. It is along the journey of life where some get lost in the fast life of greed. Greed does not appear out of nowhere there is something that sparks it and most of the time that thing is materialism. We get introduced to something that seems desirable, but once we get it we find out that there is something better out there and we find it necessary to obtain that new item, and this is where the spiral of greed begins. We start to put focus into getting the best of everything, and to do that we need one thing and that’s money. When this happens we become something similar to a machine, just thinking of obtaining and spending money. Once this stage is reached we are under the illusion that these material possessions we obtain are the source of our joy, we start to lose focus on what is really important family, friends, and most important ourselves. We lose track of ourselves and start to define and measure our success by the amount of money and possessions we have. We let luxurious items determine our character; the leaders within us slowly fade away as we become the shadows of money, constantly chasing after it.

This in reality is not what we should be doing. Is there such thing as too much greed, yes there is. The side effects of greed are normally unseen until it’s too late, some would be loss of family, friends, urban degeneration, and in severe cases the deaths of others. So yes there is a line, each one of use is unique and to set a line that we all shouldn’t cross is impossible, we need to learn our limits, when we know we have too much and we should be able to acknowledge it within ourselves.

Truth, can vary from one person to another, what I believe to be true about life may be the same as what my brother belives or even someone across he world. Although mathmatical truth is objective seeing as how it is raw facts from numbers, truth itself is subjective. During the cold war the U.S was in constant fear of what communism really was. the U.S believed it to be incrediably evil and that was our reality and our truth and the U.S.S.R believed the U.S was the evil form of goverment, and that was their reality and truth. Both were subjective and both were true in their own way because people believed in their hearts it was true, no one took the time to look through the others perspective, so both had truth in their hearts. We all have our own realities and perspectives of life and to us this is our truth. If there truly was one unified truth there would be no variety in the world, the artist could not create because the creation would be the same as the next one. If there was just one unified truth there would be no war or seperate countries everyone would have the same belifs as their neighbor. In essence think about it if there was just one truth to life there would be peace on Earth. We all have our own truths and we live by these truths till our death no one has the same truth or perspective as the next person.

Self-realization, something we all must go through in life. It is easier for some to reach than others. For many people this path is blocked by pride. In the eye of pride we can see clearer on the achievements we have accomplished and take pleasure in what we have done, for others it can act as a barrier to our flaws and true feelings. For this reason we must open up and take the time to look at things from a different perspective. In doing so one will be able to recognize their flaws and appropriate them.
