A two-part interview that I did with Clive Young, author of the definitive fan film book Homemade Hollywood and manager of the fan film blog Fan Cinema Today, is now online! This was done about late November, shortly after the release of Star Wars Tales. If you'd like to learn a bit of information about how Star Wars Tales was made, check out both links below!

This might be an odd place to ask for this, but as you saw in the last post, I'm working on a new animated fan film, and with animation comes voice actors. I've tried for the past 17 days to look for voice actors and I've been pretty successful. However, I have not been ENTIRELY successful, so I'm spiraling down towards desperation now. This is a really odd place to ask this, but in case you're looking at this blog and you happen to have some talents in the area of acting, could you possibly check out the following thread and see if you could possibly audition for any of these roles?

Casting Link

As it says in the thread, all of these roles require only one line (except one role which requires only two lines). I am in need of both males and females of various ages. If you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Please email me at yodadaman@gmail.com with your auditions. You can get a shot at acting and a credit in a fan film! What more could you want?

This announcement doesn’t have anything to do
with Star Wars Tales, or even Star Wars at all. Instead I’m announcing the next
animated fan film project that I will be writing, animating, and directing:
Marvels. Based on the legendary
graphic novel by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross,
this will be a 5-7 stop motion faux trailer in the vein of John Fiorella’s
Grayson and Sandy Collora’s Batman: Dead End. In a world of endless wonders,
where mutants roam the streets and flying supermen populate the skies, a human
photographer, Phil Sheldon, makes his living. Beginning with his career start
in the late thirties and going all the way until his peak in the early seventies,
Marvels shows a unique view of the familiar Marvel Comics universe through the
eyes of a man with no powers and no place in the ranks of the übermensch. A man
just like you.....

I’m also announcing that for the moment there will be no
website or blog to follow the development of this production. While I did have
a website throughout the production of my two Star Wars fan films, I really
feel that I should concentrate all my energy on the fan film while I’m making
it and save the promotion until the film is close to release. I hope you
viewers understand this and that it is in no way a slight against you. ....

For now, however, you can get a quick sneak into the film
by checking out the film’s newly made
Flickr Page!!....

In 2010 (hopefully), experience the Marvel Universe
through a whole new perspective: yours. ....

To start off with a lighter tone, Star Wars Tales was featured on Clive Young's list of the Star Wars Fan Films of 2008 on Fan Cinema Today!

On another note...

It had to end sometime. As Star Wars Tales has been out for over two months, I will stop updating all things related to the fan film, including this blog and the Myspace page. The film is complete and everything I intended to put out is out, so there's no point in managing the sites regularly anymore. I will post here if something special relating to Star Wars Tales unexpectedly comes up. I will also post here if I make an announcement regarding another project I may be working on (hint hint).

Anyway, this was a ride to end all rides. While 2008 was a landmark year for me in many ways, one of the things that made this year special for me was the release of this film. For three years this project had brought me pain, frustration, but most importantly fun, entertainment, a sense of brotherhood with the Star Wars community, and most of all, pride in the finished product. For those of you who have followed the making of this film for however long, I thank you very very much. I appreciate your enthusiasm very much and it made this project all the more special for me. And a special thanks to those who watched the film and especially those who commented on it. While I had pride in watching the film completed from start to finish, you guys extend that pride even through today and probably into the new year. Thank you so much.

Well, I must be off now.

The Force will be with you. Always.

Yup guys, here it is: the final Update Friday. I'm just out of stuff to make videos about. Well, I thought I put out quite a lot, so anyway...

Just in case you're wondering why the hell Wolverine is in a Star Wars blog, it's because this week's video is about the X-Men effects tests that I made in 2006 during the production of Star Wars Tales. Check it out below:

Also, I've made two covers: one for a Star Wars Tales DVD and the other fsor a Star Wars Tales soundtrack. The DVD and CD are NOT FOR SALE, they're just for my personal use, but you can download them and view them below:

Come back here in a few weeks to learn about the state of this Myspace and of this blog.

With Star Wars Tales just released and this blog's time about to end, I thought I would just come over and give a brief shout out to the film that made Star Wars Tales possible. I'm not talking about any of the real Star Wars movies of course- I'm talking about my first fan film, Han Solo and the Star Reaper Crisis, which was released in its entirety three years ago today. The film is available at www.swtmovie.com . While by far the furthest thing from amazing and even extremely sloppy compared to Star Wars Tales (just compare the two posters and that'll represent the quality change between the two). However, this was my first full-length stop motion project, giving rise to Star Wars Tales and whatever else I may do in the future. So, even though it has its warts, it holds a place in my heart.

On the subject of the title, it's pure coincidence, I swear

Anyway, today I have two pretty big features for you guys. First up, it's a feature length Commentary by me on the full film! To watch this, simply download this file, download the full length version of Star Wars Tales (found in the downloads page), and open both files. Turn the volume down all the way on the film file and try to start the commentary and the film at the same time (it may not be exact, but it really doesn't need to be perfectly synched for the full effect). In the commentary, I just give a general reflection on the film and make several comments on the making of the film. If you wanted to know anything at all about my movie, you will probably find it here.

Second up is another behind-the-scenes video, this time featuring the storyboards I did for the film.

I hope all you Americans had a great Thanksgiving yesterday!

This has been the latest I've posted an update Friday entry (I hope that isn't a jinx), but YouTube has been giving me trouble, so the video is only on Vimeo right now until I can get it up. Anyway, right now I have a video montage of animation that was rejected and later re-animated. See the behind-the-scenes process below:

UPDATE: I got the video onto Youtube! Plus I was also able to get three word documents onto the Bonus Features section. These include the shooting script, a trivia page, and the script for the second introduction, as I talked about in the first deleted scene video. Sorry for the confusion and the delay, guys!

Sorry it's late today (I"ve had a hellishly busy week), but there is an update today and this time it's the final deleted scene! This time it's the original introduction to Heart of Steel, with the older footage mixed in with the newer footage added once I rejected the original concept. If you'd like to see why I had to reject the old footage, just look below!

While this is the final deleted scene, we're only halfway through as far as Update Fridays go!

I'm sure many of you will hate me for reminding you of its existence, but exactly 30 years ago from today, CBS did the impossible: they broadcaster pure shit to millions of screens across the America. Even more impressive is the fact that the shit had the Star Wars logo branded onto it. Yes, the Star Wars Holiday Special just turned 30 today and celebrate by passing through the torturous initiation rite in Star Wars fandom (watching the Rifftrax version is cheating) and go look up this movie (it's on Youtube). Prepared to be defeated by its boredom, stunned by its oddness, and bemused by it's unintentional hilarity.

Happy Life Day!
