As I drifted off to sleep last night, I heard the weather man warning of an "ARCTIC BLAST," this caught my attention because I really thought that was a term used only in the South, not in the North where it snows with some regularity. So I went off to sleep dreaming of snow and what wonderful things come with it. When I woke this morning the first thing I did was to look out my window and this is the first thing that I saw.

After the initial sensation to run out in my pj's and find a piece of cardboard subsided, I realized that this meant I didn't have to get out today to get on the bus...I could work from home! I revisited the idea of sledding down the street...but decided against it, as I've not had good luck in the last few months with anything that involves sliding down something...AND...at the bottom of the hill sits Eastern Ave, which is one of the busiest streets in Baltimore...NOT A GOOD IDEA TO SLED DOWN THE HILL OUTSIDE MY HOUSE! So I took some more pictures.

This is the view North from my front door...the view down the hill....maybe I should go and find that piece of cardboard....NO...NO...NO...I"m not going to do it...the Chiropractor here is making enough money off me from my trip down the stairs...yes...I fell down another flight of stairs...that's why I'm not going to take any chances on ANYTHING slippery!
This is a look to the South from the front of the house...LOOOOOOKKKKKKK!!!!!!...more hill...man that would be a GREAT ride...4 city blocks down the hill right into Patterson Park!!! What a ride that would be!!!!! Whan a hospital bill that would be...I can't...I have to go home in one piece to my family in just a week or so...so I must resist the temptation...however, maybe a trip on the train this weekend up into Pennsylvania would be in order...actually go skiing...man I haven't done that since I was a teenager...but I sure would enjoy it....maybe...I'll have to check into it. Should I decide to indulge in some winter activities I'll have to take tons of pics to document my injuries...from falling down the mountain...I mean if I can't handle a flight of stairs these days...do I really have any business going skiing??? Probably not...but I just might do it anyway! I mean I might be getting old...but I'm a long way from dead.

Here's the view out my back door...it sure doesn't look as inviting as the street in front...but it's still pretty...at least I thought so...all the snow...that hasn't been messed up by feet and cars.
City life has proven to take some getting used to...at first I thought it was pretty cool...everything you want within walking distance or if you choose just a well placed phone call and what you need comes to you. I have to say that the latter has been my preference, because that doesn't involve putting on every piece of clothing that I own to go out...which is quite an undertaking...one that I have gotten pretty good at in the time I have been here. When I arrived it took me almost 15 minutes just to get all my STUFF on to go out in the mornings...not I can get it done in under 3...AND still manage to fish my bus pass out of my purse while I walk to the bus stop.
Speaking of the bus...let me tell you a thing or two about the bus. First of all, the drivers seem to think they are piloting a 45 foot long surf board...and all of us who board with all our bags and arms that can't be fully dropped to our sides...are urban surfers...let me tell you, when you get on...you better make a bee line to the first available empty seat or you're going to end up on your head...or in my case...almost always in some strangers lap...that's always nice...Which brings me to another little nugget I've learned about my bus route.
When I got here and started riding the bus I noticed that there was what I considered to be an abnormal amount of "different" people on my route...I didn't think much of it at first...I mean the bearded woman...the crazy lady in her wheelchair in the park in the morning...and let us not forget my bass voiced drag queen...it's just all part of being in the city...or so I thought! Turns out the hospital that is at the end of my bus line...the hospital that I THOUGHT was a military hospital...turns out...it's actually a very special hospital...for very special people...PEOPLE...IT'S THE FREAKIN LOONEY BIN!!! Which I'll admit...sheds a ton of light on my daily observations...and makes me a bit more choosey about to whom I speak to on the bus, that's for sure.
All in all, my city living experience has been pretty cool. I've seen and done some stuff that I sure would have NEVER done at home...so it's been a growing experience...and it's not over yet...I've still got just a little more than a week left here before I come home on February 7.
I did visit Annapolis over the weekend, and let me tell you...when I was in my early 20's that would have been a real buffet...but now it's just a bunch of little boys in nice uniforms, BUT Naval Academy aside...Annapolis has some really great places to shop and eat some really great crab!!! I'm thinking of going back down this weekend coming up...providing that I dont' go North to ski, or to a hockey game...I mean, how sacreligious would it be to come this far north and NOT take in a hockey game?
So anyway, that's all for now...snow, crazies and all. I'll be sure to check in again soon. For now, I'm freezing to death up here in what we consider to be the Northeast...but what they proclaim is still the South...You decide.

Ok, so here I am...6 days later. I think I have adjusted to the life of a city dweller pretty darn good if you ask me. Last night I was actually willing to walk 8 blocks to the grocery in the freezing ass cold...definately something that I would have never thought of doing a week ago when I first got here.
I have discovered that city living is a people watchers dream come true...no matter where I look there is someone interesting to check out...my first morning at the bus stop it was the crazy lady in the electric wheelchair coming down the hill about 90 to nothing...all the while that chair was clattering like it was about to come completely apart and dump her right there on the sidewalk...and the steady stream of obscenities as she passed made my morning...I think I might have actually laughed out loud...what a character!
Then there's a really good drag queen who sits next to me on the bus every morning...he looks perfect, like the perfect woman...then he speaks...and sounds like Barry White...again...it makes me chuckle!
Oh lets see,I can't forget about the mustached woman who got on the bus the other morning...let me tell you folks...there as no mistaking it...she has no use for wax...she just trims it up....probably the best groomed stache I've ever seen in my life...and the fabulour thing about it is that this lady was dressed to make you believe that she was a part of the society crowd...which totally amazed me...as most of those women would just as soon die as have to trim their mustache...I mean isn't that why most of us from mid-30s until we get too old to care...pay someone to rip it out of our faces every few weeks???
Of course for every 2-3 that make you take that second look and smile a little bit...there's the ones that are real assholes...like the bum who called me a whore as I passed and spat at me telling me to get off his sidewalk...all because I didn't hand out some money to him as I passed...then there was the freak who started screaming to get off the bus...and when he did immediately walked over to the sidewalk and started kicking over newspaper stands...there's some real peaches out here too...I feel bad for them...but not bad enough to put up with their horrible behavior! So I'm learned to just mind my business and try not to listen to them when they start mouthing off...but you can bet now that it's cold that old bastard who wants to call names will wish he'd been nicer to me...cause I'll figure a way to let that old fart know that a hot meal is now completely out of grasp from this white girl!!! This place will make you that way...hard...on the bus in the mornings most people sit quietly...no one talks to each other...I wonder if that's part of what is wrong with the world today...no one seems to give a shit about the other anymore. As proven by a brief conversation I had with a homeless woman who sat next to me on the bus Wednesday evening...she was telling me how she was standing at the bus stop Monday and a guy just walked up and shot the man standing next to her...just like it was nothing...then walked on like nothing had happened...THAT'S WHEN I KNEW...I'M NOT IN TEXAS ANYMORE!
So, while I was standing at the bus stop this morning I made the mistake of looking up at the display on the building across the street...and it said that the temperature was a whopping -1 degrees...-1 people...do you have any freaking idea how cold that is? I was like DAMN!!!!! No wonder I can't feel my legs or face!!! I mean I would have said it was about 20 something...but -1??? SHIT!!!! Thank God for the Columbia coat the snow boots I got for Christmas!!! I've become quite attached to both, along with my hat and gloves...I should probably really consiter wrapping my face up with my scarf too...I'd probably stay much warmer...but you know...I just can't stand to have that shit wrapped around my face!!!
My plan is to venture out some this weekend...maybe take in the open market...get some fresh seafood...I mean I am down here on the water...might as well take advantage...I gotta get me some crab while I'm here...that's for sure! I've also got to go to the ESPN Zone, Hard Rock Cafe, and National Aquarium...all just a short bus ride from where I"m staying...but I"m going to force myself to spread that out...so I'm not all done seeing stuff the weekends my roomie is going to be out of town...but again...I'll take lots of pics and share them with you all as soon as my camera arrives.
I had actually thought of going to the movies...as I had noticed that there is a theater up by the open market...but when I looked yesterday to see what was playing I noticed a HUGE sign that read "Ladies Welcome" upon closer inspection I realized that this was an adult movie theater...A THEATER!!! No need to go buy your own up here...just to the theater and sit in a freakin sticky seat (I would imagine). So the movies is definately OUT!!!
So, anyway, that's it for now...from the frozen trundra of the Northeast! I'll keep you guys posted...and as soon as my camera arives via USPS, I will take as many pictures as I can...and put them up for all to see.

OK, so I made it to Baltimore all in one piece and have managed to get all settled in.
I"m getting ready for work and am going to tackle the public transportation thing for the first time this morning...I"m confident that it's going to be very easy.
Baltimore has made it very easy for people to know where one shouldn't be when walking around the city...as in high crime areas they have installed cameras at the intersections and placed a giant blue flashing light atop the pole...so you know to stay away from the blue beacons...easy enough...
I arrived here on Saturday to a 6 alarm fire in one of the row homes in my block...it was a total loss...however these homes are amazingly self contained and the fire did not even effect the homes next to it...amazing!!! Everything is within walking distance...except my job...that's 1+ hours on the bus coming and going. But at least I'll get to see lots of the city that way.
I'm only 8 blocks north of the inner harbor, which is where all the really cool stuff is...and then only 2 blocks is the Canton square...which has lots of shops and resturants...go another 2 blocks and you're in Fells Point, which is on the bricks...and has even more resturants and shops...plus an open air market where you can buy fresh local seafood!!! All this coupled with the fact that this seems to be an old Irish neighborhood...which means theres a pub on almost every corner...means I"m in HOG HEAVEN!
The most amazing thing of it all...is that living in the city does have it's advantages...I can pick up the phone and in less than an hour...I can have just about any sort of food delivered!!! Fast food that comes to you!!! WOW...who could ask for more?
It's not too cold here...yet...about the same as there...but by the end of the week it's going to only get to about 15...so I'll be dying then.
I've got to get ready for work now...bus leaves in just about an hour...and I'm still in my PJs looking out my basement window at car tires and feet!
I'll post pictures soon...forgot my camera...so mom is mailing mine and it will take a few days to arrive.
Miss you guys already!

One day I had a date for lunch with friends. Mae, a little old 'blue hair' about 80 years old, came along with them---all in all, a pleasant bunch. When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Mae who said, 'Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate.'
I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast.
'Along with heated apple pie,' Mae added, completely unabashed.
We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time. But when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine.
I couldn't take my eyes off Mae as her pie a-la-mode went down. The other ladies showed dismay. They ate their lunches silently and frowned.
The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Mae. I lunched on white meat tuna. She ordered a parfait. I smiled. She asked if she amused me. I answered, 'Yes, you do, but also you confuse me. How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible? She laughed and said, with wanton mirth,
"I'm tasting all that is Possible.
I try to eat the food I need, and do the things I should.
But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good.
This year I realized how old I was. (She grinned) I haven't been this old before.'
So before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored.
I haven't smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many books I haven't read.
There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead.
There are many malls I haven't shopped. I've not laughed at all the jokes.
I've missed a lot of Broadway hits and potato chips and cokes.
I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face.
I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace.
I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast.
I want un-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most.
I haven't cried at all the movies yet, or walked in the morning rain.
I need to feel wind in my hair. I want to fall in love again.
So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall, I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire.
I had that final chocolate mousse before my life expired.'
With that, I called the waitress over.. 'I've changed my mind, ' I said. 'I want what she is having, only add some more whipped cream!'
Live well, love much & laugh often - Be happy.
Be mindful that happiness isn't based on possessions, power, or prestige, but on relationships with people we love and respect.
Remember that while money talks, but CHOCOLATE SINGS!

1. I woke up on time this morning, so I had time to stop for a Carmel Machiato! WooHoo!!!
2. So far so good on my study today!!!
3. I’ve actually been working ahead on schedule getting the camper ready to take out to the track...so I’m not having to kill myself at the last minute.
4. It is looking like we got a really great new campsite this year at the track! It’s gonna rock!
5. My kids are finally well, and so am I!
6. My house is clean and most of the laundry is already done for the week, which means I’ll actually get to play in the garden this weekend; if it doesn’t rain.
7. Shawna, Jill and I have developed a plan for race weekend and so far we have been executing it perfectly.
8. Katrina is coming out to the track next Friday to hang out and I’m really excited about getting to spend some time with her.
9. I’m almost in a situation where I can seriously start looking for a new house...that is actually big enough for my family.
10. It’s almost Friday!!! It’s been a pretty easy week!!! And I’m looking forward to a weekend with my kids. Maybe I’ll take them to Six Flags...I mean we did get season passes for Christmas...I might as well put them to use.

It’s the best time of the year...the weather is starting to warm up and the days are getting longer and pretty. The birds are singing, and the trees are beginning to leaf out...AND THE ENGINES ARE STARTING TO ROAR!!! Only 6 more days until I head out to TMS for the first race weekend of the year!!!
The time between November and April seems like it takes years...it is the equivelant of waiting for Christmas as a kid! It kills me that long cold 5 months, waiting for the time that I can drag my parent’s RV back out to the track for a weekend of long hours working, and even longer hours playing. It’s truly the only time of the year that I get to just be me...I’m no one’s mom, or wife, or girlfriend...I’m just me...and it’s WONDERFUL!!! Great therapy if you ask me!
Keep your eyes peeled, as I’ll be uploading pictures hopefully through out the weekend. I think I’ve figured out how to get on the internet with my laptop through my cell phone. I’m sure the connection will be slow as all get out...but maybe I can get some of the pics uploaded and I’m sure gonna try to do it!
I can already smell the grills cooking away, some of the most wonderful smells in the whole world...I can smell the Methonol...(for those of you who aren’t race fans...that’s the fuel the cars burn)...I can hear the jet trucks, and the cars as the fly around the track sounding like 4 wheeled jet planes! I can hear the helicopters landing and taking off again, and I can see the HUGE SWAT Apache landing and bringing in all the cops working the event (at least I think that’s who it brings in...I could be wrong though)!!!
It’s all here, and this last 6 days will be the longest of the year for me, April is always the best race!!! Getting back in touch with old friends, and making new friends, spending time just unwinding! WOW!!! I can’t wait!!!
I’ll be there from the bitter start until the bitter end and then some. So if you’re gonna be there, look for me! If you don’t know where to look for me, then email me and ask me where to find me! It’s always a good time with good folks! See you there!!!

Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slowdown in overall system performance -- particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. Inaddition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0, and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do?
Signed, Desperate ----------------------------------------------------------
Dear Desperate First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an Operating System. Please enter the command "http: I Thought You Loved Me.html" and try to download Tears 6.2, and don't forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta. Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources). Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0. In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Food 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7. Good Luck, Tech Support
