But then I realize I have a dedicated blog site that I use pretty often. Of course, some of you don't read that. It's okay, I understand. That doesn't make you a bad person.
Anyway, yeah. I think three of my fingers are going to rot and fall off my body. Don't know what the fuck's up with that, but I hope the doctor fixes it tomorrow.
I had a band practice earlier this week. In my opinion, it went really well, and I hope we're able to continue it. For whatever reason, I hold out hope about these things even though I've been burned over and over again. I'll give more information about the band as things get rolling a little harder. Right now, though, I'm stoked.
When I got home from work today, I checked the mail. Imagine my surprise when I saw an envelope from the 18th Circuit Court. Looks like I got popped for jury duty... Awesome. And, by awesome, I mean GOD DAMN IT.
Enough for now. Maybe I'll update more often. Maybe I won't. Who knows?

would a crust punk festival smell? I guess there's one coming up in Chicago, and that whole city is gonna smell like BO for a long time.
Gross.

The scroll wheel on my Mighty Mouse loses the ability to scroll down. This is one of the most-used features on my mouse, so the lack of it is killing me.
This ranks up there with a non-functional snooze bar on an alarm clock. Or a cell phone that doesn't reliably ring for incoming calls. All of which I've dealt with over the last few weeks.
Technology... Who needs it! Anybody got a nice (apple compatible) mouse they can suggest? Damn it.

We went to the tow yard today to get my wife's stuff out of the remains of her car. I've posted a couple of pictures of it at http://randomv.livejournal.com/ so check it out if you dare. Several people that know and care about my wife have gotten sick to their stomachs at the sight.

Cross posted in several forums where friends of ours visit... So if you've read this already, I apologize.
So. Mrs. V. was involved in a big accident yesterday at a busy intersection here in Indy. A crazy guy in a pickup truck rear-ended the car behind her, which pushed it into my wife's car, which in turn pushed her into the car in front of her. It even managed to tip my wife's car on to the driver's side doors for a few seconds.
So, how did she end up? Her ankle is jacked. They don't think it's broken, but they're going to have to do more X-rays after the bruising has some time to heal. She has a huge contusion on her chest - and whether that's from the seatbelt or the steering wheel, no one really knows. And, for the weird part... That impact to her chest was strong enough that it altered her heart's rhythm - she was in atrial fibrillation. They actually had to knock her out and shock her to set it right again. Like, with the paddles they use to revive dead people. That scared the shit out of me.
In even stranger news, Indiana recently passed a new seatbelt law. It requires everyone, regardless of age or location in the vehicle, to wear one. So, a local news crew was at the hospital interviewing a doctor about it. They asked if anyone was in the ER who had been in a crash, and since he knows my wife (she actually works in the hospital where they brought her in the ambulance), he suggested her.
So, go to www.wthr.com and look in the featured videos section near the top of the page. Check the one about "Seat Belt Laws" or something. You can see my wife in a hospital gown and a brief shot of what is left of her Cavalier.
We just bought one new car, and now it looks like we're in the market for another one. I hadn't seen the car until it was on the news last night, and I spent some time trying not to throw up when I did.

B-Dawg has been admitted to the hospital. Three days ago he was perfectly fine. Two days ago he was sick as a dog and diagnosed with pneumonia. Yesterday we thought he was getting better, and then today it was worse still. The doctor put him in at least overnight in order to administer fluids and IV antibiotics.
I'm completely freaked out. The wife sent me home to take care of the pets, but the reality is she knows I'm going nuts right now.
I've never felt worse than I did when my son was screaming and crying for me while they put in the IV and took blood from him for tests. I hate this. I really do.

I had no idea anyone actually read things I said on here.
I post a little thing that says I'm leaving myspace, and my inbox just EXPLODES. Crazy.
It will take me a minute to get back to all of you, so please be patient.

That's it. I've given up on the hardcore/punk scene in Indianapolis.
I've gone out of my way. I've stayed up really late. Gone to lame-ass bars. Paid more than I ever should have paid to get in. I've sat through really terrible bands to support my friends as they played shows.
So, what happens when I ask for a single favor - one thirty minute set, played in front of my BMX friends at an upcoming contest? "No thanks." Every single group passes.
Well, fuck them. I'm done. I will no longer go out of my way to back someone up. It's humiliating to tell the people in charge of the comp "Sure, I know enough people in bands that it won't be a problem," and then have to go back to them empty-handed.
Damn.
