GROOVIN BARCELONA!!! Cuando la mayoría de la gente considera la escena de la música de baile de Barcelona, piensa automáticamente en el campo electrónico de la misma, predominante durante muchos años – siendo el techno, el house y el mínimal ,prominentes en la extensa mayoría de clubs.
Hay, sin embargo, una gran cantidad de DJs que viven en la ciudad, que están intentando ofrecer algo muy diferente - trabajando en los clubs y los bares más pequeños, promoviendo sus propios eventos- a menudo luchando contra la ignorancia y el malentendido que dictan lo que todos los clientes del club realmente desean.Estos DJs están ofreciendo un mundo entero de sonidos alternativos, basado generalmente en los estilos de la música negra- Funk, Soul, Jazz, Latín Kicks, Afrobeat, Reggae, Dancehall, Brazilian Flavor,Hip Hop,,Nu Jazz,Breakbeat,Drum & Bass,..-una mezcla que abarca desde los estilos nacidos en el siglo XX hasta los más contemporáneos.Ahora, por primera vez en la historia del nightlife de Barcelona, un equipo de DJs lo tiene preparado - producir un acontecimiento, que demostrará al publico de Barcelona, que aqui hay otra opción. Ya no tiene que aceptar al club con falta de imaginación a la hora de programar, que solo pone Techno, comercial, r' n' b y los sonidos mínimal para atraer al público.Groovin Barcelona presentará 22 DJ de la ciudad, quince minutos por cada uno, para un total de cinco horas y media… cada uno muy diferente del siguiente. Algunos son catalanes y españoles, Dj´s en la escena de Barcelona por muchos años - otros son de todo el mundo, - ingleses, francés, escandinavos, latinoamericanos ….
Muchos de estos DJs son también promotores - programando noches de club - Café Royale, The Sunday Joint, The Timeless Club, Brothers On The Slide, Nuggets en Apolo [2], Skyfunk(Teatre), One world,Diobar, Brazelona Sessions (Sidecar),Music Is the Weapon(Sinatra),Rumba Disco (KGB),Plein Gaz,2Siders,Colorblind,Soulful Essence...y estos son solo algunos.
Otros son DJs de radio que presentan sus propios shows en Scanner FM y Soul NationFM . Sin embargo, todos se unen en la creencia que sus estilos de música, aunque estén fuera de la corriente principal aceptada, tienen su mérito y ofrecen un aalternativa emocionante a la falta de opciones de cultura de club de esta gran ciudad.El turno de los 22 DJ´s la noche del 6 de Junio, será decidido por sorteo (con boletos dentro de un sombrero), y el tiempo de cada uno (15 min) será respetado seriamente. Ha habido ya desafíos para ver quién puede poner la máxima cantidad de canciones en 15 min., pero no se trata solo de eso. No es una competición. Es una muestra del color musical de esta ciudad.Todo amenizado por 2 mc´s para que nadie olvide donde está.Si todo va según lo planeado, este acontecimiento de Groovin' Barcelona se repetirá en diferentes clubs de la escena Barcelonesa -

When most people consider the Barcelona dance music scene, they automatically think of the electronic music field, which has been pre-dominant for many years – the techno, house and minimal styles which are prominent in the vast majority of clubs. There are, however, a large number of DJs living in the city, who are trying to offer something a lot different – working in the smaller clubs and bars, promoting their own events and parties – often struggling against ignorance and the misunderstanding that dictates that all club customers really want, is hour after hour of repetitive 4/4 beats.
These DJs are offering a whole world of alternative sounds, usually based on black music styles – Funk, Soul, Jazz, Latín Kicks, Afrobeat, Reggae, Dancehall, Brazilian Flavor,Hip Hop,,Nu Jazz,Breakbeat,Drum & Bass - a mixture of both classic and contemporary tunes.
Now, for the first time in the history of Barcelona nightlife, a team of DJs has banded together – to produce an event, that will show the people of Barcelona, that there is another option – they don't have to accept unimaginative club programming, that there is more than just commercial house, r'n'b and minimal sounds to supply the soundtrack for their night out.
Groovin' Barcelona will present 22 DJ's from the city, all playing fifteen minutes of music each, for a total of five and a half hours… each one very different from the next. Some are Catalans and Spaniards, who have been Djing on the Barcelona scene for many years – others are from all over the world, who now call the city home – English, French, Scandinavians, South Americans…. The list is endless.
Many of these DJs are also promoters themselves – arranging club nights and booking venues around the city –Café Royale, The Sunday Joint, The Timeless Club, Brothers On The Slide, Nuggets en Apolo [2], Skyfunk(Teatre), One world,Diobar, Brazelona Sessions (Sidecar),Music Is the Weapon(Sinatra),Rumba Disko (KGB),PleinGaz,2Siders,Colorblind,Soulful Essence, to name just a few.
Others are radio DJs who present their own shows on Scanner FM
and Soul Nation FM.
All however are united in the belief that their styles of music, although they maybe outside of the accepted mainstream have merit, and offer an exciting alternative to the club goers of this great city.
The running order of DJ performances on the night, will be decided by the drawing of tickets from a hat, and set times will be strictly observed. There have already been challenges issued, to see who can play the most records within the fifteen minute time frame.
If everything goes to plan, this Groovin' Barcelona event will lead on to a regular club night – which will showcase all of the participant DJs… delivering their full-length performances.
