Hey there music fans! We have good news regarding or upcoming debut release, "Guilt to Consume". The CD is all finished up studio-wise and it's being printed up as I write this. We're all very proud of the music that we made for this and well, we just imagine you'll be plum tickled about it too. The disc will include 11 original tunes with writing contributions from each member of the band. With all of us drawing from many different influences, each song achieves a very distinct sound all it's own, however the album still sounds cohesive and represents the great sound you've come to expect from us. Great tunes, thoughtful improvisations, and greasy grooves.
We have some friends who also put in their valuable time to help us put this together. Tyler Combs provided us with some very cool artwork, that really puts the theme in motion. We used one of Tim McKenzie's great pics of us for the interior. Everyone at Earthwork Recording Studio did a great job of capturing the sounds, as well as mixing and mastering, so shoutouts to Tom, Dave, and Nate. Our management, Tom Blessing and James Goodman of AlchemyHouse Presents, have been instrumental in getting the ball rolling in regards to promotion, sales, and booking some great shows where the CD will be for sale.
We'll be having two CD release parties. The first will be at Canal Street Tavern in Dayton May 30th. Our friends the Waterband will be kicking things off at 9:30PM. The Second will be at Stanley's Pub in Cincinatti July 10th, show starts at 10PM. We will have shirts for sale at each show and of course.....the actual CD. Also, look forward to seeing another article from Don Thrasher about yours truly in the ActiveDayton, as well as hearing some tunes on WYSO.
Well that's all for now. We're looking forward to seeing everyone at the shows! Peace and much love!
Romeo Champagne

Hey hey hey! So you all may have noticed some new stuff going on with all things Romeo. If you have kudos! You pay attention and well, we love you for that. If you haven't been paying attention....we understand...everyone gets busy, but it still hurts a little. Nah, just joshin'! We love you too. Now that we've made some small talk, we're ready to spill it! First off the new website is up and running. Now you have another site to check out and get news, listen to tunes, view pics and all that good stuff. Our managment has us hooked up with a nifty system to update all our webpages simultaneously. Just making things easier to keep you all updated. We're also looking into putting up some new live videos. The ones we've had up are a little dated and there's just new stuff we want you to see. We also have some more new tunes that we just debuted at our J. Alan's show this past Sat. These include: "If the Shoe Fits" and "Echoes and Words". Some other recent debuts have been: "Conversations with Myself" and "Pawnshop". We're really enjoying playing them and we hope you enjoy listening to them! Now for some really big news! We've been working on our first full length recording. We've made several trips over to Earthwork Recording Studio in Newark OH for a couple of months now. Tracking is going well and should be finished soon. There's still mixing, mastering, and packaging to go so we're a little unsure of a potential release date, but we'll keep you posted. All good things are worth the wait so we appreciate your patience. We hope everyone had a chance to check out Don Thrasher's interview with us that was featured in the Active Dayton paper and website as well as the Go section in your Friday paper. Many thanks to Don for taking the time to listen to us babble on about ourselves, and then print said babble in said publications. The write up was greatly appreciated and we look forward to more to come. Also a virtual pat on the back goes out to our good friend Worp for making yet another sweet poster for our New Year's Eve show at the Oregon Express. He also made the Halloween poster that everyone really dug. Good work sir. Wraping things up, we'd like to remind everyone of our upcoming shows at One Eyed Jack's, The Trolley Stop, and our New Year's Eve show at the Oregon Express. Please check the show postings on our profile and on the new website for details. Hope everyone is having a festive holiday season and we'll see you all soon!
Peace and much love, Romeo Champagne

Hello music fans! Rob here with a very overdue and very much awaited new Romeo Champagne blog!! That's right, you wanted it! Well, maybe the thought crossed your mind while glancing at the page or deciding what to make for dinner that night........but here it is!!!!! For starters, let's get all you fine folks updated on what's been happening with the music, management, promotions, photography, and everything Romeo in general. By the way, totally lying about the bears. I only added that in for shock value. If none of you were shocked......well then I'll just have to try harder next time. Ok, we have officially dropped the "Howling Coyotes" from our name. We've decided "Romeo Champagne" sounds just as catchy and saves us in printing costs and all that jazz. Now, onto other things. -Music: We've been rehearsing a lot of new tunes, originals and covers. Some of the new originals to be on the lookout for are: "Conversations with myself" and "Live for what you know". Some of the covers are: "I am the slime"-Frank Zappa and "Pack it up"-Freddie King. We're having a lot of fun with these tunes and we've been getting good reactions to them, so make sure you keep your ears open! We will also be putting some new tunes up on the page very soon. We have some good live recordings we'd love for you all to hear. We have also begun talks of what to do for our debut album.......we'll keep you posted. -Promotions: Our management at Alchemy House which is Tom Blessing and James Goodman have been working on a promo pack for us including our demo, pics, bios and all that good stuff. Once this bad boy is sent out you can expect to see us spanning the globe........of course starting with Ohio. We were also mentioned in the Active Dayton paper as a band not to be missed, so we'd like to thank them for that. Tom and James are also in the process of revamping our website and myspace page. We recently viewed the layouts and things will be looking very nice indeed. -Photography: Very recently we had our new friend, Tim Mckenzie, come and do a photo shoot for us. Ok, here's how this went down. Danny had the idea to have the shoot at this old abandoned farmhouse behind Josh's house in Miamisburg. So imagine the band, Tim, and Josh's family (in sandals mind you) making this arduous journey through not one, but two soy bean fields (oh, and three counting the one on the return trip). The trip also included overgrown shrubbery, thorns, a crap-ton of poisen ivy and general woodland flora. At the end of the trek appeared an old house that was something straight out of a scary ass movie, including two rotted out barns, a creepy looking shed, and lots of broken glass. All that aside, Danny's wisdom prevailed and thanks to Tim's skills and our incredible good looks we now have some really good pics. We've added a few of them as an album, so check them out! Oh, and if any of the guys say that I was being a wuss and don't like scary old houses and didn't want to go inside and wanted to go home.........it's all lies!!! Theories and conjecture!!! Anyway, I'll rap this up. We just wanted to inform everyone of all the cool stuff going down. We'll see you all soon!!
Peace and much love, Romeo Champagne

So, you want to know what we've been up too? Would you like to be informed of our current and upcoming plans?! Are you chomping at the bit to get some reason as to why we've put up new tunes, pics and what not?!! Are you dying to know why we're asking you all these questions at the beginning of this blog when we haven't even answered any of the former inquiries?!!! Well hold on a minute.......we're getting to it!!!! Aight! So here's the lo-down. We've recently finished our new demo and plan on putting together just a fantastic press kit that we'll be shipping out to various clubs in different areas. Our master plan is to start branching out from the Dayton scene and start hitting surrounding areas such as Cinci, Columbus, Athens........and pretty much almost anywhere that'll have us play! So we're definately looking forward to hitting the road a bit and bringin' some funk along for the trip. We recorded the demo at Earthwork Recording Studio in Newark Ohio. This studio is owned and operated by our good friend Tom Atha. We've all been part of studio projects and have had our share of lame experiences.....but this session went so smoothly that the gods must have been looking down and dancing. Tom and his cohort Dave did a beautiful job of getting us set up and sounding great. After that the session was gravy. Everybody played great and we came up with some really good ideas for some of the tunes. Of course, we can go on all day, but just take a listen on the page and judge for yourself! So a big thanks to Tom and Dave and we look forward to working with Earthwork again in the future. We're also getting pumped for our upcoming shows. Make sure to catch us at the Oregon Express for Boo and Brew. We'll be in full costume and dropping some nice halloween funk for you. We're also looking forward to our Nov. 3rd show at Peach's in Yellow Springs. We're not sure who we'll be sharing the gig with, but whoever it is, we can gaurentee a good time! Aside from the upcoming shows we have planned, look for us to be spanning the globe (a little at a time of course) sometime in the coming months. Until then we wish you good times and good vibes.
Peace and much love, Romeo Champagne and the Howlin' Coyotes

Hello reader, the following events took place on December 10th 2006. This date marked our pilgrimmage to the Vogue Theatre in Indianapolis to witness a meeting of a few of our favorite artists; John Scofield joined by Medeski, Martin, and Wood. The main words to describe the evening would have to be, "admiration" and "silliness". Let's start with the admiration. Pretty much the day began with the usual preparation required for a small road trip. We packed some necessaties, mapquested everything, made sure we had our tickets, and Rob put new windshield washer fluid in his car. Oil was almost added as well, but it was determined he didn't need it. Said oil is still sitting in his trunk. Moving on...... the only forseeable problem was that Danny hadn't purchased a ticket. Not much of a concern at first since we figured he could just get one at the door......but then we found out they were sold out. Now it's usually not a big deal to go to a show and find a ticket scalper so once again, we put our fears to rest and proceeded to hit the road in search of good music and good times. We preped for the show on the ride over listening to the new Medeski, Scofield, Martin, and Wood album...which is freaking sweet. Anyway, we made good time, checked into our hotel, and called a cab. So the cab driver......wow, this guy was fu#*ing insane! He did his duty and got us to that theatre quick! Although in retrospect, the way he sped, darted in and out of traffic, and almost killed us was kind of artistic. His name was Joe and he will reappear later in the story. So remember what we said about you can usually find a scalper........wrong. First thing we see are signs with, "need tickets" written all over them. At which point Chris looks at Danny and says, "I don't think you're getting in." So as Danny searches for a ticket, the rest of us head inside to plow our way to the front of the stage.....which we did....the Coyotes don't take no mess bitches. So the show began, and here's where the admiration part really comes in. These guys are phenomenal musicians. The amount of control, chops, and musical telepathy they command is incredible. Aside from the hoots, hollers, "HELL YEAH's", and clapping....we were otherwise speechless. This was all great, but one of the best moments of the night was when Josh happened to turn around to find noneother than Danny "Taxi Sax" Sauers standing right behind him. At which point the rest of us turned around and exchanged gasps of, "How the hell did you make it in here?!" To make a long story short (because this is already getting kind of long) Danny apparently first went and chilled at a local bar, then came back and offered the door guy some money to let him in at some point during the show. Unfortunately the door guy refused and Danny, never the one to be discouraged, made his way to the back of the theatre by the loading doors. He then chose to just stand outside and listen. However, he couldn't help but be taken over by his desire to witness the badasses making these beautiful sounds. Being truly instictive, he noticed one loading door cracked open and made his way into the theatre and passed the huge security gaurd who was standing by the door most of the night. Yet another point of admiration. Mr. Sauers we salute you, anybody else would've been caught trying to sneak into that place. So with all the Coyotes finally inside; Josh, Rob, and Chris could enjoy the rest of the show guilt free without worrying about Danny being outside.....and there was much rejoicing. Now we move on to the silliness. After the show, we retreated to the bar where Danny had spent the beginning of the evening. Many Newcastle's and Jaeger shots later, it was time to call a cab. Who else, but Joe our trusty cabby from earlier. One mistake was that he mentioned he was no longer in his cab, but in his personal Celica.....and we chose to ride with him anyway. Five guys squeezing into this thing, four of them trashed, and a couple of them of substantial girth......made for a cramped ride back to the hotel. But we made it there, gave Joe our fond fairwells and a mamma jamma of a tip, and stumbled inside. The rest of the night consisted of more shots, the White Album, Danny falling into a table, Chris putting together an air matress at 4AM, Doritos, and a few Kung Fu moves. But we survived and the good music and good times we set out for were definately realized. Once again we give our admiration to the awesome musicians we witnessed, give our gratitude to the hotel staff for cleaning up after our silliness, and tip our hat once again to Danny for his complete use of stealth and instict........still can't believe you snuck into that motherfucker.
Peace and much love, Romeo Champagne and the Howlin' Coyotes
