The single most effective way to influence legislation is to contact your representative.  Just a few people can have a very large influence.  They know that every phone call, letter or email represents hundreds of constituents.

The single most effective way to get people to contact their representative is to ASK THEM.  The personal "ask", even if by email will result in the greatest number of people taking the time - less than 5 minutes. This has the side effect of involving people in the issue and increasing the chance that they will continue to support the issue later.

Please forward the "Ask" below to your compassionate  friends and relatives.  Ask them to call or email, and ask them to forward this email!

------------------------------------------------------------

Please contact your state representatives and urge them to vote for the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act.  This legislation will allow the seriously ill access to medical marijuana if their doctors recommends it for an approved serious illness.  In addition to a Doctor's recommendation, patients would have to register with the state, and pay a large fee to carry a state issued ID card identifying them as a patient. This very comprehensive legislation is supported by Wisconsin medical marijuana patients. This is also the best chance Wisconsin has to pass this legislation.

Please take a few minutes to call your representatives office.
-------------------------------------------------------------

IT IS REALLY EASY!

Dial the number
Ask to leave a message for the representative.
Answer their two questions:
 1) Name, address, phone
 2) what is your comment or question
(Please support Assembly Bill 554 or Senate Bill 368)
Say "Thank you".

You never get to talk to the representative and the staff member never asks you anything else. It's really that easy!  If you call after hours or on a weekend you can even leave a message.

Please resolve to do this in the next 24 hours and pass along this email.

Thanks!

Here is the contact information for Senate and Assembly members in the Health committees voting on this bill.

Gary Storck has the update on the Madison NORML blog http://www.madisonnorml.org/blog/archives/000518.php

Are you going out on Halloween? Print some fliers, or in some cases we can deliver fliers to you.  http://bit.ly/JRMMAfliers You could even just leave a stack where you're going.

Places to hand out fliers:
Pepper the bar with them.  Hang them in libraries, grocery stores, pizza joints, beauty parlors, retirement homes, anywhere with a community bulletin board, on campus, at the pipe shop down the street, at gas stations.  Be creative.  Even if you put them in only one place, if you know people are getting them, it's worth it.
