Our manager told me yesterday that we have inadvertently accepted a gig sponsored by Relentless, which is in turn owned by the evil overlord Coca-Cola, and said festival is less than 2 weeks away. If the offer had been for the Coca-Cola Boardmasters Festival, it would have been an instant no but it wasn't and maybe we should have done our research but we didn't, and now we are in the awkward position of deciding what to do.
Now for those who don't know, this is a problem for us, Pip's "Thou Shalt not buy Coca-Cola products" line in Thou Shalt... isn't just a controversial demand made to make us appear more interesting, it is a belief, it is something we both adhere to not matter how much I miss Dr Pepper & Cherry Coke. You see Coca-Cola aren't a good company, now no multi-national company can be said to be angelic but Coke really take the biscuit, their rap sheet highlights include the murder of 8 union leaders in Columbia and the use of polluted water in India.
So what do we do, festivals are massively expensive things and corporate sponsorship is how a lot of festivals survive, think of Reading & Leeds festival, the headline sponsor is Carling, a beer company, more than 30000 people die a year in Britain from alcohol related diseases but you don't hear of anyone pulling out because its the Carling Weekend. Corporate Sponsorship cannot be avoided but as a band we do have options:
1. We could play dumb and pretend we didn't know thus taking the ignorance is bliss route and do the show with blinkers on.
2. Play the show and talk openly about the issue.
3. Cancel the show.
Now of those 3 options only option 2 makes sense to us, option 1 is sadly the standard route but we don't want to be those guys, also me writing this blog kinda destroys the credibility of route 1. Option 3 has potential but 2 weeks before the festival all we'll be serving to do is let down the people that are coming to see us and the damage will already have been done by association. So option 2 is the only way.
So if you want to find out just how evil Coke are head over to Knowmore's Coca-Cola Company Page or the mildly aggressive KillerCoke.org.
cheers

Howdy y'all. im currently moving flat (in the next few weeks anyway). In the packing of stuff i have found a wad of copies of my ultra rare debut album "No Commercial Breaks". People often ask me about this so the only logical way to get them out there was to sling them on ebay. I say logical....this moving lark is expensive! :) But it was genuinely the only fair way to let people that have been asking me about it for ages fight it out. I will obviously sign them or personalize them and all that if people want. For some reason it wouldnt let me do one posting for multiple items so there are 15 different ones up there. I wonder which one will go for the most! Heres where they are. Scroobius Pip - No Commercial BreaksHappy bidding! Pip p.s. only 1000 were ever pressed and they rarely turn up these days so act fast! p.p.s. If anything else rare comes up in my house clearing then i will sell it here too!

First up I've gotta break some bad news, it is true last Summer I, dan le sac, cheated on Scroob and went in the studio with someone else, I know it was wrong but I just couldn't help myself, she was just so talented! ;) To continue this Music as a Marriage metaphor I even had an illegitimate child with Ms Anni T under the name of "Wasnotwas"! Long story short the KID A single "Wasnotwas" is out today on TheLab! You can nab it on SWEET!
But don't worry this hasn't spelt the end for dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip, in fact whilst working hard on the next LP we've even managed to squeeze out a lovely remix of Bat For Lashes "What's A Girl To Do" which will feature on her single "Pearl's Dream" on June 22nd, Pip even laid down a few verses for it!

With the general bad taste of the UK's choices in the euro election now seems like a great time to get out of england for abit!
And we have loads of european dates coming up!
Who is coming along?!
Oh and i would quickly like to request that you dont hold the BNP representation against US while we visit.
Out of interest, the BNP turn out this year was actually worse than in 2004 but they gained seat due to the fuck ups of labour.
They havent got in because the UK has suddenly gone racist.
They have got in because of the lack of passion the other parties inspired in much of the British public.
Which is no excuse!
But count the current UK down as lazy or slack rather than increasingly racist!
And we will come all round europe proudly stating that the BNP are a load of idiots and do not represent is Brits in any way, shape or form!
See you in Europe!
Switzerland and Germany this week!
Then loads more!
Check out out listings for details.
