Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits. Happy New Year to you all. I hope it's a gentler, safer year for us all. Thanks for the continued interest and support.
I've recently found 5 old demos of songs I really like and we're putting together for a download package. Hopefully it will be ready by the end of this month. Meanwhile, I'm grateful to be home safe and excited about the next musical chapter for myself. Amy gave me an amazing old, antique accordion for Christmas, and a HARP!! Never played one but she also gave me the beginner's learning books and DVD so I now have yet another cool instrument to begin to learn.
Also planning on taping more Guitar School lessons soon. I'll keep in touch. Have a great year and stay safe.

Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits. Thanks to all of you for your support and attendance on this recently concluded E St. tour. What a great band and musical journey , thanks to all of you!
I'm so grateful to be home safe with my beautiful wife and family. I finally unpacked my bag and stowed it in the garage! I will rest and enjoy the crazy holidays with family and slowly, (but surely!) gear up for my next solo, musical chapter. Not sure what the next batch of songs will bring, but I'm excited to find out. Also, I will be taping more guitar lessons soon and I'm previewing some un-released demos of mine for future downloads.
My wife, Amy is organizing a charity event for a local food bank Dec. 13th, at which I will play an acoustic set. Linda will post the details. I hope to stay in better touch now that I'm off the road and appreciate all the support and patience from those of you who continue to show interest in my next musical adventure. From me and Amy, Thank you all! And may God bless and keep you all safe in this wild, holiday time as the year comes to an end.

BLOG POST-- Oct. 11, 2009 Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits.
Just completed 5 nights at Giant's Stadium with Bruce and E St.. What an amazing series of concerts. I'm embracing these last few weeks of the tour and enjoying the music, the audiences and my band mates and crew. It continues to be an amazing and inspired musical challenge and journey. Thanks to all!! It's also been great to have Amy out on the road for a while along with our newest dog– Outlaw Pete. Anyway, I feel like the band and Bruce are at our best, so come see us if you can, these remaining shows. I just finished videotaping Lesson 9 for the Beginner's Guitar School. It should be available by the end of next week. It's a fun lesson featuring hammering techniques with one finger and meant to be a fun, easier lesson. When I'm off the road at Thanksgiving, I'll be getting the lessons to you more frequently. Thanks for your interest and patience!
I'll be in touch.

Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits. I'm enjoying my family and home as we jump into the Fall shows with E St. The band is in great form and so are the audiences. Hope to get some new guitar lessons headed your way soon. Tour wraps up at Thanksgiving and at that point, I'll get back into my own writing and see what comes out next! Thanks for the continued support and interest. Peace and Believe - Nils

Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits. I'm totally loving the band, shows and audiences as I'm getting extremely homesick. Great problem to have!! Recently, I've been researching local folk songs to play on accordion at beginning of shows as band and Bruce take the stage. Interesting challenge. Looking forward to getting home! Plan to video more guitar lessons. Mostly beginners, however my next intermediate lessons will probably be the "Youngstown" solo. Thrilled there's more shows in States up until Thanksgiving. I feel like the E St. Band and Bruce are doing the best, most, musically challenging shows ever. After the tour ends, I'll get back to writing the next batch of music of mine. Meanwhile, thanks for the continued interest and support.

Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits. Tour continues to go well. Great audiences and crazy shows. I managed to get Beginner's lesson 8 to Dick and Linda before I left AZ., so they will get it to you soon.
To answer some recent questions: regarding harmonics in "Keith Don't Go", there's Intermediate Guitar Lesson 2 which is all about how to play harmonics and Lesson 1 has the "Keith" song mapped out and includes those specifics. The thumb pick I'm using in the new Fender Strat video on the "Ghost of Tom Joad" solo with the "guitar cam" view is a standard ..Golden Gate.. thumbpick (large), as I have thick fingers. In recent Hyde Park show, what looked like a black Les Paul is actually a Gretsch Black Penguin (solid body) with gold trim that I've been using on last two E St. tours along with Black Falcons (hollow body). Both the Falcon and the Penguin have a custom Bixby vibrato bar. (got that suggestion from Tom Lofgren- thanks Tommy!) Regarding acoustic strings verses playing ease: the lighter the string, the easier they are to handle. Flat wound strings (no ridges like traditional wound round) may suit you but in general, the heavier the string, the richer the sound and the harder to play. Lighter strings, the sound gets thinner and easier to finger. Good luck!
Having a great time out here on tour with Amy along. Be safe everyone and I'll stay in touch.

Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits. Just back from Scandinavia, getting ready to play Bonnaroo Festival tonight. Then home to see Amy and family. Sure miss them. Shows and audiences have been great. A bit cold in Sweden and Norway, however, Bruce and the band rocked and so did the audiences. I played many old country, Swedish folk songs for my grandparents growing up so we broke out one for the band to walk on stage to. Charlie lent me his accordion and it was fun to hook in to my Swedish roots. Had a good visit with 38 cousins at the Friday night show! Not wanting to slight our Norwegian brothers, our long time promoters helped me find the appropriate song to play in Norway, also. That title in English translates to; "We Will Not Sleep Away The Summer Night". I thought that was cool. Plan to tape more Beginner Guitar School lessons this next week before tour starts up again. Also got a request for lyrics so here they are. "Like Rain" saw you last moring cried my sins out - you were rain and I washed awayI meet the kind of friends that always end - and I laugh when I start to saylove you like rain darlin' always falling just to pass my way wander like the clouds when it comes to loving - this lonely heart sure ain't nothing newI was told by a wise man in my soul she's gonna always stop loving youoh I love her in the morning she leaves me in the evening - I'm just crying 'til two she's got a hold on me don't think she's ever gonna let me beI'm just crying in the morning light it'd be better if she weren't so damn right and it rains . . . gotta run now clouds are rolling I'm afraid it's gonna start to rainwhen I fall sleeping I dream of good things but I always wake up the same oh I love you like rain darlin' you're always falling just to pass my way I meet the kind of friends that always end . . . and I laugh when I start to say Anyway , thanks to you all for the patience and interest. I feel excited about the current music with this great band and am excited about my next batch of solo songs, recordings and gigs that I'll get back to when the "Working On A Dream" tour finishes. I'll stay in touch. Peace and Believe - Nils

Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits. Just posted free download of a home, acoustic version of Bruce's classic song; "If I Should Fall Behind". Hope you enjoy it. Leaving for Europe. Had great 3 days at home and got to see Dylan (my step-son) graduate high school with Amy and family in from N.J. Great, big night and occasion. Go Dylan!!
Regarding "Keith Don't Go"; I wrote it on the "Tonight's The Night" tour with Neil Young in 1973 in England long before the Toronto bust. It's a giant thank you note to Keith for all the great music and a plea to take care and stick around to share his great, great musical gifts. Obviously he has and we're all grateful. Gotta run! Will stay in touch. Peace and Believe - Nils
