We’ve almost finished recording our new album (title yet to be decided –though I want to call it “Harden the Fuck Up”) ....

Anyway –we’re now going be looking to gig extensively and tour so promoters we’re available and ready to explode in venues up and down the country .. and on tour abroad....

The new album is almost finished, we’re just finishing the lead guitar bits on the last 3 songs then we’ll be mixing and producing in October....

And hopefully have it ready for an early December release, so I guess we’ll be looking to gig lots from then on to sell the thing ..and hopefully we’ll get some decent distro plus all that I Tunes nonsense that all you poptastic youngsters seem so fond of (Bah humbug bring back 78’s!)....

We’ve recorded 19 tracks and we’re proud of every one of em, there’s some debate amongst us as to wether we should release all 19 on one album ..so I’m asking all you Drongo fans what you think ..should we put out all 19 songs or save some for comp releases or a single?....

Dek Drongo....

Due to the recent events of Deks heart attack and the subsequent rest and recuperation period needed for him to get back to full health the Drongos For Europe have decide not to do any live events until at least July 2009. This means that they will not be playing the arranged gigs supporting the Hard Ons in Mansfield on 27^th March and The Texas Terry Bomb tour in April(check their myspace for further details) . The Rotherham gig 27^th June may also have to be postponed as well, but we will wait for health updates on this one.

The upside to this is that during this time the new and long awaited album can be written and recorded before the end of the summer...

A BIG THANKYOU FOR ALL YOUR KIND WORDS AND THOUGHTS.

As most of you know I suffered a major heart attack in Athens last week ironically as we sat in the airport waiting to go home,  I had an operation the following day in Alexandria Hospital Athens where something called a “Stent” was placed inside the closed artery in my heart which has opened it and will eventually make it better than it was before (which is easy as it was obviously fucked  HA HA!)

Unfortunately what happened was a genetic defect (probably the only thing my old man ever gave me!) and not me having slept with 25 beautiful teenage Athenian punkettes  and  thus knackering my heart out –though this will be the version I give my work colleagues!– though having got locked out of my room one night Ohmsy very kindly let me sleep at the bottom of his bed!

Nor was it down to drugs, but it would be best if you bigger boys don’t give me any as I have become rather more irresponsible in my old age!

 I don’t smoke either by the way so it would seem that shit really does happen, it has always been my preference that it happen to someone else – but there you go…

There are so many people who I have to thank, but prefer to do this in person, obviously I’ve done this – but a special big thanks to Tommy who came with me to the hospital and stayed over a couple of days until Lozz came from the UK and helped to settle her in.

All of the Athens punks and skins who really are FAMILY X they know this, and it’s all been a good reminder of why we are punk rockers – WE ARE ALL ONE FAMILY X

Lozz I have to thank for not killing me after she kissed me –cos she’s been telling me to slow down for years .. no need to now I have a bionic heart babe!

I read all your kind words the other night, it’s a shame we didn’t have a new album out and I never made it, I reckon we would have made a profit for a change after 30 years of making nothing ..hang on, not sure how I’d have made much ..but that’s the downside I guess..

 So! I’ve been told to rest, obviously I’m too weak to be typing this now –I am in fact dictating it to a special Japanese monkey secretary who is doing all the typing and then will forward it to our other monkey Huggy who has took over the myspace site and also manages the band (God help him)
Some of our gigs have had to be pulled just in case I die on stage or shit myself in Danny’s van ..but I should be up and running in the summer so am looking forward to much sympathetic hugs and kisses off you girls, you lads can just buy me a drink .. yeah I can still do all the good stuff – just got to be more careful.
The best news of all is that I don’t have to eat vegan food, yaaay!!!  As the doc said, you’re actually fitter than me you’re just cursed! (he has a certificate from Bombay Polytechnic on his wall so he must know!)
So thanks again, see you in the summer hopefully, in the meantime DFE will we writing and recording a new album while I’m confined to Brum City limits.
