Transit Music Group, GNYC and Rock N' Roll Scene Records [NYC] have joined forces in an attempt to expand the well established and highly respected M.E.A.N.Y Fest to areas north and south of New York City. The general idea is to have MEANY competitions in various cities like Boston, MA, Portland, ME and the Seacoast or Southern NH, with winners and runners up automatically being entered into the finals to be held in New York City. Exact details will be determined by whether enough participants from MA, ME and NH enter.

 MUSICIANS & EMERGING ARTISTS NEW YORK rocks the big apple like no other! The festival will take place in the 9/24-10/3 and all finalists will perform with a special guest act by December 30th, 2009 (venue TBA). A winner and runner up will be determined by an industry panel for the finals event taking place in December. The panel in 2008 included Jonathan Clarke from Q104.3 (one of Clear Channel's highest rated radio stations), the head of A&R from Tommy Boy Records, and Michael Musto from the Village Voice. If you choose to participate, and are from the above three states, make sure to send an e-mail to gnyctv@aol.com, and tell them that you were a Transit Music Group referral. This will help to determine how many entries are from this area, and will allow us to make the necessary arrangements. It is very important that you e-mail them with that info. *One finalist is guaranteed to be chosen from out of state*

Over 260 bands performed in the best NYC venues for M.E.A.N.Y. FEST 2008 and approximately 15,000 people attended over the week of rock. Over 150 Sonicbids bands performed at last year's event! This year's event will be an exciting one and will rock the best venues in NYC in the fall of 2009. M.E.A.N.Y. FEST showcased bands in 15 venues last year including the Highline Ballroom, Santos Party House, Bowery Poetry Club, Crash Mansion, the Delancey and many more.

Prizes for 2009 will include A new Gibson Guitar worth $5,000 An appearance on Fearless Music TV -airing in 60 million households! Recording time, a radio package, and high tech equipment a major showcase event for the Village Voice (the 2009 winner will play the Blender Theater in NYC!). Finalists also appear on Rockin Clubs' (Time Warner cable) which airs in almost half a million NY households and more great prizes to be announced soon! Sponsors and partners have included Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort, Maxell, Apple, the Village Voice, Fearless Music TV, JLSC, Marshall Amps and many more! Many talented finalists and special guests of M.E.A.N.Y. FEST have since moved on to national tours and record deals.
