Rinse FM's DJ Distance first came to prominence on Sting records with tracks like "Breathing Space", "Shiverz" & "Tropical Rub". After having recorded for Boka, Hotflush and Tempa, he's moved over to Planet Mu for the anthems "Traffic/Cyclops" and new album "My Demons" is another step ahead into uncharted dubstep territory. He's back in Nottingham to play Detonate on the 28th August so we put a few question to him >> Your city......London Your club......Love in New York First record bought.....Sepultura, Territory When (where, how, etc.) did you start deejaying? I started djing in 2000, I bought a pair of dodgy cdj's and just mucked about trying to mix everything together, hip hop, dnb, garage, rock. Then I finally began to focus on just dnb and Garage. Soon after I bought 1210's Number of records in your collection.....I have no idea, somewhere between 5 and 700 I think. Role model.....Dimebag Darrell, who was the guitarist from a band called Pantera. Oh and Rab c Nesbit ha ha The most important thing while mixing is…..To keep it interesting, and to try and take the audience on a journey. My strongest fear is…..Needing a dump when im djing ha ha. Thing, which is always with you on the journey.....Earplugs. Good for the Clubs, and for sleeping on aeroplanes. When I’m not busy with music I am with……. My Girlfriend. Track you're currently working on? Well the most recent thing is a collaboration between Cyrus and myself called Emperors Fury. Music is….Everything. Your top 5 records: (of the moment) Hindsight - Mala Tron - Joker Human - Pinch Terminate - Deleted Scenes Alone - Cyrus

Detonate return to Stealth this Friday and bring with em always a massive line up!! Goldie, Calibre, Sigma and Dubstep/Grime regular Plastician!! Known primarily for a string of innovative
releases on Road, Soulja, Terror Rhythm, Rephlex, Dump Valve and responsible for one third of the first 'Grime' LP, the album that really
pushed Dubstep/Instrumental Grime into the public consciousness!! He had a spare min from his busy schedule of gigs and radio shows so we put a few questions to him >> Your city.....London Your club......Manchester United First record bought.....M Dubs - Over You When (where, how, etc.) did you start deejaying?I started DJ'ing in my bedroom after buying a set of decks off a friend at college. I had just started listening to and buying UK Garage records, and just wanted to record my own tapes instead of recording people's pirate radio shows. Number of records in your collection?Damn... I don't know. I am mainly using digital now, have been 99% digital for 5 years so only bought the odd classic track on vinyl since then. But even that said, I reckon I still have about 3000 records in my house. If I continued to cut dubplates and buy vinyl we'd be looking at close to 5000 I reckon. If its any consolation I have over 11,000 MP3 and WAV files on my hard drives. A lot of it is shit I have been sent and haven't deleted yet but there are some proper gems there too that will never see light of day. Role model......Hmmm.... I don't really know anymore. In terms of DJing I don't really have one, I like to be who I am which just means I have to keep on point all the time. In life I hope I can be like my dad when I am older. The most important thing while mixing is…..Knowing when to stop mixing!! Some DJ's think that holding two tunes together in a mix for 5 minutes is what people want to hear. Not always the case. OK it shows you can hold a mix and thats great, but some tracks are better left to drop on their own. If you're going to do a 5 minute blend of two tunes, you have to pick two tunes that sound great together. If you've got two wobbly bangers going at the same time, not matter how tight the mix is, its going to sound like a mess. I could go on all day about this, a lot of good DJ's think that holding every mix for 3 minutes is exciting..... not to me... choose your blends, choose the big drops, choose the chops, choose the short blends - its all very important. My strongest fear is…..I don't know. I don't like the idea of doing another job unless I overnight became good enough to play premiership football. So I'd say that losing my grip on the music is a big fear. That and large fish in the sea. Thing, which is always with you on the journey...I'd like to say my girlfriend Caroline but she can't make every trip!! So I'll have to say my laptop and my Serato. They're always there to keep me amused on the train journeys and flights. When I’m not busy with music I am with…….I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend. I like to get out and socialise with my mates as well, but as we're all getting older and settling down into houses and relationships its becoming more difficult! I also try to catch my pals gigs as well so if I fancy a knees up I'll normally bell Skream or Benga to see where they're off to if I get a night off. Track you're currently working on?Working on a lot of remixes at the moment. Gary Go - Engines and Chew Lips - Salt Water are my two most time consuming works at the moment. Music is…...don't want to be cliche and write "life" here cos that would be a bit David Brent wouldn't it? I'm going to say Music is Milky. Your top 5 records: (of the moment)1. Tempa T - Next Hype (Plastician Remix) 2. The Streets - Blinded By The Lights (Nero Remix) 3. Crissy Criss - Blow Your Head Off 4. Joker - Digidesign (Om Unit Remix) 5. Plastician - Retro

Being middle class and Scandinavian prepares one for a bleak future.
However two Helsinki DJ's, Downtown and Jaxxon, made it through the
jungle, although without house music they would already be dead or in
lower management - or both. Hailing from the new breed of Helsinki club
survivors they bless the world with a mixture of all things kick drum
and an idea fused into their concept of contemporary dance music. They play their Nottingham and Stealth debut this Saturday @ Stealth vs Rescued so we put some questions to em > Your city......Helsinki still for a week. Then the Renaissance Man base is set to Berlin. Your club......At the moment we don't hold residencies, just producing and touring, but the club of our choice would be something in between the Social Club and Panorama Bar First record bought......La Bamba by some latin dude who's name i never remembered(was maybe 7yrs old) When (where, how, etc.) did you start deejaying?Ville: I started playin at my friends parties around millenium. Martti: Around the same time by playing some miniscule underground raves. Number of records in your collection?Ville: I actually only have my mp3's (and even too many of those) with me nowadays all the physical records are somewhere in storage. I move a lot so it's handy. Martti: Around 2000 or something. Most of them are in storage because of moving. I feel bad for that. It's all digital now however. Role model......Da Vinci of course. We like people who do stuff for the right reasons and therefore never loose their edge. Like John Cleese or Trevor Jackson. The most important thing while mixing is…...to look good. My strongest fear is…....That we'll end up being boring and/or purists (not that likely to happen) Thing, which is always with you on the journey.......30000€ in cash in case we happen to find something nice to bring home. Track you're currently working on?We always work on several tracks, we are now, amongst others, remixing DJ Chernobyl for Exploited Records and working on tracks incorporating bugs, snorring, sibelius etc Music is…...the best excuse for everything. Your top 5 records: (of the moment)A1 Bassline: Girl Thing (Christian Martin Remix) Renaissance Man: What Is Guru Solo: The Big Stef Little Fritter: Ginger Bread Man (Basti Grub Remix) Gucci Vump: Casa Blanco

Nero are blowing up right now - having produced some of the hottest Drum n Bass and Dubstep records known to man - crossing genres and being supported by the world's biggest Djs. Their dubstep bootleg remix of The Streets ‘Blinded by the lights’ has been supported for the last few months by Skream, Rusko & Chase & Status - and has recently crossed over to Djs of other genres - including Diplo, Kissy Sell Out, Andy George, AC Slater & Annie Mac - who played the track in her Essential Mix last Friday! Check the video of Skream playing the track on his 'Stella Sessions' Rinse FM show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlZXKKUiy_U and expect more when they play Stealth vs Rescued on the 13th June. Can you tell us who you are, how you met and how long you’ve been producing together? We're Dan and Joe, We write drum and bass and dubstep as Nero. We first met in 2000 through a mutual friend living in the same area. Although we both produced a bit, we didn't start working together seriously until 2003. What’s next on the production front? Is anything official happening with your ‘Blinded by the Lights’ remix? It’s certainly proved it’s cross-over potential……..Yeah it will be coming out officially on 679 recordings soon, along with a remix we've just finished of 'In The Middle', a tune from the forthcoming Streets album. We're also working on a dubstep album and our 2nd Breakbeat Kaos release. In terms of DJing, where has been the best place that you’ve played? Are crowds around Europe or further abroad feeling your sound as much as the UK?We have played a few 'World Of DnB' events in Russia, they're always sick! Huge venues and massive crowds. Those Russians really know how to rave. We've found that it doesn't kick off when we play dubstep in other European countries as much as it does in the UK yet. I'm sure it will soon though. Dubstep or Drum and Bass? If you had to choose which route would you go down?Haha! Hard one to answer. We're loving writing both, not sure i could pick one. After the gigs finished and your back home or at the hotel how do you like to chill? What music do you like to listen to?We've been driving to gigs recently listening to a lot of 80's synth pop like Phil Collins, Go West, Prince etc. As well as various funk, disco, Motown, soul, jazz and French house. Also been working our way through Beethoven's piano sonatas, Sonata no.21 is particularly rowdy. We often drive back listening to a BBC Radio 4 comedy show called 'I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue', it's awesome.

From a 14 year old prodigy to a global phenomenon Miles Dyson is ridiculously overdue in Nottingham. The fact that he runs over 10 labels might also contribute to why he is known as the “CEO of House Music” and “The Donald Trump of Dance Music!” As a producer Miles' work is now hitting the worldwide mainstream with “Electric Soul One” featuring on the cover of Mix Mag and 30Hz “Daddio Remix and “Miles Ahead” selected on the latest Ministry of Sounds Sessions, "Summer". He's dropping into Stealth to play Hoodoo's 2nd Birthday on Friday 12th June so we put some questions to him!
So you're playing the Hoodoo 2nd B'Day party @ Stealth on the 13th June. What can we expect? A 1st class diiiiirty headbanging electronic music show!!!! As it's a Birthday I think they might want a gift but what do you get the promoters that have everything? A 1st class diiiiirty headbanging electronic music show!!!! You seem like a real busy guy with all the gigs, production and labels. How do you manage? Apart from a fantastic invention called the internet that makes it possible being online 24hrs a day (even on selected flights such like virgin america airlines – i love this service). I also have studios in Australia, Rio de Janeiro, Vancouver and Los Angeles. So I can work during long tours and do masterings and label managment stuff even abroad. On your travels for gigs are you a stay in the Hotel guy or do you venture out? Depends on where in the world I am....I do spend most of the time in hotels but deffo prefer friends’ houses (mainly those at the beach...hehehe). Got any gig stories you'd care to share? ...naaah, better not - undisputable dirty secrets shoud be protected!!!!!! Can you also let us know your top 5 tunes at the moment please? As I only play live-shows and don’t do dj-gigs anymore nor buy any new tracks I only perform my own songs or tracks that appear on my labels. So just check the latest releases on my Plasmapool imprints...then u’ll know what i love most at the moment... And last up are their any new bands/labels/producers currently floating your boat that we should look out for? I got heaps of talented new and “old” artists on my labels. More than 240 are currently signed to my plasmapool empire and a after having 4 releases in the top5 overall charts of trackitdown recently, 3 in the top10 of beatsdigital, 2 tracks in the top5 of djdownload and 2 in the top5 of the mighty beatport – all of them from different releases and different artists – it’s pretty hard to name just a few. So keep an eye on my inhouse output and u will find tons of talents... http://www.myspace.com/milesdyson

The brainchild of Beni G (Mixologists) and Plus One (Scratch Perverts),
a production duo from London, UK who are not only veterans of the music
scene but also multiple DJ champions, and award winning DJs. Jack Beats
represents everything you love about the new wave of British house
music. Wobbly basslines, big breakdowns and edgy accapella’s are cut,
copied and pasted together to create a floor-filling brand of house
that’s bound to rock the foundations of the dollop 5th B'Day on 5th June. We put some questions to em and here's what Beni G had to say >> Your city.....LONDON, UK Your club.....FABRIC First record bought? Over the past 18 months, few names have had the kind of impact on the world’s house and techno scenes as 24 year old Tim Green from London. Tim’s production talents have seen him release music through some of the worlds most respected labels, and gaining major plaudits from the likes of Ritchie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Pete Tong, Tiga, Carl Cox, Locodice, Nic Fanciulli, Dubfire, Steve Lawler, Tiefschwarz, Laurent Garnier, MANDY, Lee Burridge to name a few. Add to that a string of high profile remixes and dj gigs across the globe and its not hard to see why so many people are talking about Tim as a future star. He's now back in Nottingham for a second set at Stealth vs Rescued so we put a few questions to him >> Your city? London Your club? Fabric is my mothership! First record bought? First vinyl bought was probably was something along the lines of Nik Kershaw haha, or something on Thomas Bangalter's Roule label. When (where, how, etc.) did you start deejaying? In college through my best mate. He was learning how to DJ also. Number of records in your collection? More than 5, less than 10,000 Role model? Simon Pegg The most important thing while mixing is… Do it better than the original My strongest fear is… Punctuality. I always worry about getting to places on time. Thing, which is always with you on the journey? A book and my ipod. When I’m not busy with music I am with……. my girlfriend, friends and family. Track you're currently working on? The favorite one im working on at the moment actually contains a very big sample in it. So im not sure if it will ever see the light of day, but ill just have to see how well it turns out once its finished :) Music is… Incredible, painful, a lot of work, but most importantly fun! Your top 5 records: (of the moment)Kitch In - Tim Green - Dirtybird Records Mono Turn (Alex Delia & Nihil Young Remix) - Broombeck - BCB Tec Exercise - Tim Green, Emerson Todd - Cocoon Recordings Still in africa - Robert Drewek - Musique Unique Reilui (Ekkohaus Remix) - Sonodab - Trazable Recordings http://www.myspace.com/tg909

Brodinski is the most exciting dj and producer to
explode onto the scene in recent years. Yes, he may hail from France
(Reims, Lille) but he is quite unlike any of his Parisian peers. His
taste in music is broad and this is reflected in his own productions
and dj sets which may encompass noisy techno, bass heavy house through
to more melodic minimal. He's playing as part of Dot to Dot Festival so we put a few questions to him. For people that don’t know, can you please give us a brief introduction to Brodinski?Hello, I'm Brodinski, 21, i'm a DJ (Sorry mom) When did you start djing and producing, and how did you meet (your production partner) Yuksek?I started DJing 5 years ago, and I started Producing 3 years ago with My Boy Yuksek, I met him because we live in the same city, Reims. It's not a big city, so it's really easy to make contact :D After remixing high profile artists such as Tiga, Peaches and Klaxons, who is next? Or who would you love to remix? Next, not so much Remixes with the name of Brodinski, we just create a new project with Yuksek, Called The KRAYS. We work on it since long time but now we have some good opportunity for remix bands like Ebony Bones or Peaches. I would love to remix somebody like Flying lotus, or something like Crystal Fighters....really good music. What are you current top 5 tunes?1. The New Twin Boyz - You're a Jerk 2. Gucci Vump - CasaBlanco 3. Feadz - Lisborg Error 4. Crystal Fighters - Xstatic Truth 5. Yuksek - Tell Me More We are really looking forward to hearing the Tiga remix and the collaborations with Noob & Mumdance – can you let us know what else you have coming up?The Tiga Rmx is Not For Now...the Mumdance collab going out in August, and The Noob One In September...I prepare some other collaboration with Mowgli for example. I Just have a new Side Project too, For a Label Called Sound Pellegrino. A lot of Exciting Thing :D Are there any new bands/labels/producers that you think we should look out for?Yes For Sure. Crystal Fighters, Iron Curtis, Renaissance Man, Noob, Minimow, Solo, Mikix The Cat AKA Momma's Boy, Kenton Slash Demon, Martyn, Duke Dumont....and I forget some for sure...I love Labels like Snork Enterprise, Sound Pellegrino, Made To Play or the New Turbo Stuff...really exciting stuff for the Future of the Music.

Kris Menace is playing as part of Stealth vs Rescued on the 23rd May...... we put a few questions to him >>>
For people that don’t know, give us a brief introduction to Kris Menace and the new album? I'm
a humble guy. Better look my name up on the internet as i dont like to
talk to much about myself. The album is a 3cd package which contains
all singles like Discopolis, Lumberjack, Jupiter, Scaler, unreleased
tracks and most of the remixes I did so far...
I’m
loving the Royksopp re-working/remix!! Who’s next on the remix front?
Or who would you love to remix?
I'm remixing a track
for filthy dukes, bag raiders (modular) and a Scott Hardkiss project
from the states. I'd love to remix the chemical brothers one day... big
fan of them!
What’s you top 5 tunes at the moment?
01 Kris Menace - Metropolis - Night Version 02 Clark - Growls Garden (Warp) 03 Marco Carola - Long Jump (plus 8) 04 Petter - Some Polyphony (Border Community) 05 Anthony Rother - Planet Telekraft (re-edit) (cdr)
Can you let us know what else you have coming up?
At
the moment i'm touring a lot and really looking forward to play at
stealth! Other than that i work on some projects with friends of mine
but its too early to speak about that in detail. I prefer to let the
result speak of itself...
And last up are there any
new bands/labels/producers that are currently floating your boat that
we should look out for?
Still a big fan of Border
Community. Always worth a look whats new from them! Joe & Will Ask?
are 2 talented producers from the UK!
