My book The Grubby End is now available from the publisher's website: www.crossingchaos.comIt would be very cool if you bought a copy and help spread the word. cheers, jase reviews: “Stunning visuals! Jase Daniels' Grubby End is an imaginative and unique vision…
beautifully, lovingly, and meticulously rendered” –David Mack ( http://www.myspace.com/davidmackkabuki)"The end is here!!!!...The GRUBBY END...!!!! So take hold of your medulla oblongata, step through the looking glass, dive into the wormhole, and embark upon a surreal brain-ride, far beyond the umbral depths,... experience the twilight visions and dreamscape graphics of cutting edge neo-surrealist Jason Daniels..!!! Daniels serves up a psychotropic entree, a neural feast , seething with magical wit, larval pathos and absolutely original enchantment!!!! FANTASTIC..!!!!!!!!!.......kd matheson"(http://www.myspace.com/kdmatheson)"Like silent cinema brought to the page, Daniels' debut eschews dialogue in place of color to create a visual tour de force that evokes the great Ben Templesmith while destroying paradigms. A masterful work that demands your attention!" Zan Lyons(http://www.myspace.com/zanlyons)"The Grubby End is a wonderfully surreal story of pictures, like a 100 page bizarro version of a David Wiesner or Maurice Sendak book. It’ll take you on a journey through an insecty world of soggy sky scrapers, maggot eggs, and little goblin-like people. It’s genuinely creepy and weird as hell. It is also 100% bizarro. I highly recommend it." Carlton Mellick III(http://www.myspace.com/carltonmellick3)"THE GRUBBY END is a Surrealist Masterpiece. An intoxicating surrealist narcotic for the eyes and mind! Jase Daniels, THE GRUBBY END brings together elements of the strange, fantastic and grotesque to such boundaries of wonder and beauty that you cannot put this book down! The artwork will infect you! BRAVO JASE DANIELS!!!~ Keith Wigdor, Surrealism Now

about a week ago I quit art. It lasted two days, which was also how long my recent attempt to quit smoking lasted. The smoking thing dosn't bother me, but the other, well its gnawing away like a rabid mole-rat.
I'm not even sure of my reasons for temporarily turning my back on art. I think it just didnt feel like enough. A waste of life?
I don't do this blog thing often, not much to say usually, not to this mass of strangers I have collected anyway (I am slowly working through all of you, making personal contact, but you know what I mean)... however, this feels like an important period in my life to document and share.
As Jack said, (ok...I might have reorganised his words a little): "if I didn't say anything people assume the worst.... well it works both ways".
obsession, compulsion? Not even sure why I do what I do any more. Theres been a cold hum in my brain for a while now. There is a distinct lack of choice in my world. Doing something because it is my only "option", well, that just makes me feel like an insect.
Art needs to be more for me than the thing I do between sleeping, if its not, its not art, its masturbation.
Art needs to be more than a means of survival, more than a way to stop me slipping back into madness, more than a way to feed myself and my cat. More than a way to justify my existance.
I need to feel alive before I can actually create anything again. Art is a transmogrification of energy.
Time to invite some chaos. .....?

So, finally...after being without the cybernets for almost 10 days I am back.
I spent all of today, (when I really should have been sorting out what i'm going to eat for the next week, and who i have to swap money with so water comes out my taps and all the other shite you have to do when you move to a new place) I have constructed a gallery on Zazzle.co.uk (for people in Europe. go to Zazzle.com if you are in the US...or just want prices listed in $ for some weird reason).
I have put a load of my work on their, you can customise the print in many different ways just by clicking buttons...so if you want a classy canvas print you can do it, or if you just want a cheap but very cool poster to slap on your wall, you can get those aswell. Or if you want you can get my images printed on a garment of your choice...
My friend Justin Aerni put me onto Zazzle, he has a gallery on there also, so check out his stuff when you pass by. Just search for Justin Aerni and he should pop up.
Please tell everybody you know that they can now get prints of my work from Zazzle.co.uk (or Zazzle.com), I really appreciate your support and I really couldn't be doing what I am without you.

drawing is not working today. Has left me wanting to do nothing but go back to bed. Maybe i will and see if I am more productive when I wake up again. a soft reset.
I do have a couple of questions somebody can help me with...maybe you...
I am thinking of putting some of my artwork on t-shirts and other garments...I have had a cafepress account for over a year but have not taken the plunge, can anybody tell me if the print quality is good and if the clothes themselves are nasty or nice?
Any thoughts or experiences on t-shirt printing would be appreciated. I want to pick your brains.

just sent this out as a bulletin, but thought it would get lost or passed over...so here it is again:
hey,
it has been a while since I posted anything, but I wanted to wish you all a bloody Halloween AND let you know that I'm not dead...just really deep into The Grubby End (http://www.crossingchaos.com/catalogue.html).
Loads of new Jase art is coming, even churned out a few t-shirt designs that I am in the process of finishing off and putting out on cafepress. One thing at a time though...if only I was a many tenticled space god...I bet multi-tasking would be much easier if I had a thousand limbs.
Have a good one...I am not attending any parties, instead I shall channel my essence through all of those who are, and vicariously spatter the pavement with halloween flavour vomit. Happy Halloweeeeners.
later,
jase

So i thought I should say something about my comic: The ROIDS. My idea was to self publish it as a bi-monthly 32 page publication, the main focus was to be the tale of Gentian Marrow, an odd little man with a pocket-knife. However, due to developments in my life I have put the project on hold.
(forgot to mention that after 5 issues i was going to collect it all up and put it out as a graphic novel.....)
I still intend to continue working on The ROIDS, but as for actually putting it out for others to enjoy (or not), I no longer have a solid plan for that... continually failing to meet my self impossed deadlines was not helping my self-esteem.
now for the good news:
I am working on a graphic novel, currently going under the name The Grubby End. It will be published in 2009 by Crossing Chaos (go here to check out the website http://www.crossingchaos.com/catalogue.html ).
That is the reason The ROIDS have been silent for a while now.
The Grubby End is still in its early stages, lots of sketches and stuff covering my "studio". I think i'm going to keep it all under wraps until much closer the release date...but I will try and update both my personal website (www.jasedaniels.com) and this one with new art as often as possible.
got to go and drink some tea now, all this thinking in words has made me woozey.

The book contains some amazing words by Forrest Armstrong, and almost 20 illustrations by myself.
You can find out more and preorder it here:

any help with promotion of this would be fantastic. Please repost.
thanks,
