3rd Annual Buy Local Week November 30th - December 6th

Buy Local Week 2009
***What is it?*
Your chance to positively impact our region's economy by choosing locally owned businesses for holiday purchases. Buy Local Week runs from November 30 - December 6.

***Why Local?*
Last year Coloradoans spent $12.7 billion during the holidays, which represents a huge chunk of $ for retailers. And since money spent at locally owned businesses recirculates at least three times more in our community, where you spend your money really does matter.

***Every Bit Counts*
A shift of just 10% of your purchases toward local retailers means more people are getting a paycheck, paying their rent, and getting what they need from other local businesses. Find out more about Buy Local Week and our kickoff event at Swallow Hill 11/28 at 6pm!

The Big Pink

..........

A Live DJ Set at Twist & Shout....

Monday, November 23 at 8 p.m.

..........

Twist & Shout is pleased to host 4AD’s latest signing The Big Pink for a DJ Set on Monday, November 23 at 8 p.m.  ....

The band will be here for you to meet while they peruse our used vinyl and spin them for your delight.  Then they'll be off to the Larimer Lounge for a full rockin' set with instruments and microphones.....

 ....

There’s something steady but explosive about London’s The Big Pink.  The band has compressed 50 years of loveless and lovelorn rock & roll into a sometimes unsettled but frequently tender circle.  They’re a truly modern pop group – seamlessly, the band melds folkish and warm melodies, the spiritual tranquility of soul and gospel, the rhythmic propulsion of rave, the white noise of punk, the glitchy textures of electronica, and the heavy ....

drones of your favorite New York rock bands for a sound that’s both distant and utterly familiar. ....

 ....

Now doesn’t it sound like their DJ set is gonna be good and fun??....

CHAD PRICE w/ ELIN PALMER

Live Performance at Twist & Shout

Friday, October 23 at 6 p.m.

Chad Price has been playing with Jon Snodgrass in Drag the River for the past 10 years, a band they both started when Chad wasn’t on tour with All, his other band at the time. His newest album Smile Sweet Face (10/20) features 10 songs recorded with Chris Fogal at Black in Bluhm Studios. Most of the tracks feature stripped down arrangements mostly with Chad on vocals and acoustic guitar. Rick Stef (of Lucero) came in and recorded Accordion on 3 tracks. The songwriting finds Chad picking up where tracks like “Tobacco Fields” and “Death of the Life of the Party” left off from Drag the River’s You Can’t Live This Way. Fans of Chad Price’s songwriting are in for an absolute treat!

And for an even bigger treat…local singer/songwriter Elin Palmer will be performing with Chad. Her new album Postcard will be released on Oct. 20, the same day as Chad’s album. Palmer’s voice is reminiscent of Enya or Kate Bush with a subtler, softer range. People who love pop will also be drawn into this easily addictive music.

Come to Twist & Shout on October 23 at 6 p.m. to see this rare, one-of-a-kind performance!

Thursday, October 15 at 6 p.m.

With years of collective experience under their belts, Drew Emmitt and Bill Nershi exemplify the forward-thinking modern bluegrass musician. As linchpins of two legendary jam-bands --Drew with Leftover Salmon, Bill with the String Cheese Incident--both men have done the stadium-filling, high-profile rock 'n' roll thing to perfection. Along the way, however, they've honed their songwriting and playing chops and studied the bluegrass, rock and jazz masters they admire.

Come to this free event, watch some great live music and meet the members of the band afterward.
