Hey Friends!

I'm doing a few shows on the east coast this fall in between all the wonderful Rescues craziness that's taking off! In a couple weeks I'll be in NC to play a show at The Evening Muse on 10/1 and then on 10/2 I'll be playing at NCSU's beautiful new Titmus Theater in Thompson Hall!  Super talented singer-songwriter friend of mine, Mark Kano, will be backing me up.  It's been a few years since i've played at my alma mater, very excited to get my Wolfpack fix!  Come and bring friends, even if you're a Tarheel ;)  See below for full details and for all kinds of other good news like my song on One Tree Hill tonight!

Happy dog days!
xoxo,
Kyler :)

"You Wait For Rain" on One Tree Hill this Monday night!

Listen for my song "You Wait For Rain" on this Monday 9/21's episode of One Tree Hill on the CW!

"Turn The Sunshine On" on NBC Fall Comedy Promos!

A song called "Turn The Sunshine On" that I cowrote with my singer-songwriter friend, Cathy Heller, is being used for NBC's Thursday Night Comedy TV promos!  Cathy sings lead on it and I play ukulele and sing back up...in the promo it starts with the uke and the vocals come in on the line "smile, go and pass it on".  You can hear the whole song in the player atwww.myspace.com/cathyheller and then keep your ear out while watching the tube!

Flying High with "Tonight, Tonight" on Delta!

If you're flying Delta in September, listen for "Tonight, Tonight" in rotation with other great artists like Ryan Adams, Jem, and Colbie Caillat as part of their "Boarding Music" playlist.  Read about it in Sky Magazine p146 HERE:

The Rescues update- "Love Happens" trailer!

You may have heard my band The Rescues' song "Break Me Out" on TV recently.  In addition to the Lifetime/Drop Dead Diva promo spots, it's being used in trailers for the Jennifer Anniston/Aaron Eckhart romantic comedy that just hit theaters, "Love Happens".  It's all over TV right now so keep your ears out!  And you can watch the promo on YouTube:

The Rescues are finishing up our album and will have some very big news to announce soon!  In the meantime we have a big LA hometown show on 10/8 at The Troubadour, tell your LA friends and get tix below. (save the service charge by ordering through the via fax link)

hey there,

been a couple weeks...bad Kyler! i've been a busy bee, what can i say? March is gonna be crazy as well. i'm on a plane right now and taking the chance to catch up with you! i'm gearing up to head to Austin for SXSW- will be playing both solo and with my band, The Rescues. come hang with us if you're going to be there. in March i'll also be playing in St Paul, LA and San Diego, check my myspace for details.

they say video killed the radio star but lately it's more like reality TV killed the video star! if you're feeling nostalgic and wanna hear some actual music on MTV, tune into The Real World next Wed 3/11 @ 10pm and listen for my song "Sweetspot"! or you can stream it online the following day at http://realworld.mtv.com.

some really cool websites have featured my album "Simple Machine" recently. first is a new one called iheartmusic.com where they featured me alongside two other kick ass female artists whom i admire, Adele and Erin McCarley! go check it out and surf around the site, it's a great new destination to discover new music!

the other site is Mashable, "the social media guide". in an article reviewing all the best iPhone apps, my album is featured in the bit about Ourstage.com's radio player. check it out: http://mashable.com/2009/02/16/free-social-music-iphone-apps/

i'm on a plane to the snowy east coast and i know i should be catching up on email but instead i've been watching the mini TV in the seat back in front of me. just dried my tears from the sappy and romantic Australia and am now watching the season finale of America's Best Dance Crew. (i don't have cable at home so whenever i get the chance to channel surf on cable i get hooked. yup, i'll be watching The Real World on my laptop!) i'm so in awe of people who can dance cause i have zero skills. zip. nada. my pulse is racing watching these crews do routines with moves that seem impossible without invisible cables like in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. i'm so into it i would text in my vote for my fave except my cell phone is off, well, that and i think this is a repeat. i'm dying to know who won, Quest Crew or Beat Freaks?!!! hmm, i think i finally get why people love American Idol so much. :)

ABDC has me inspired, maybe i should work some dance moves into my show. or maybe not. :)

Kyler ;)

hey-

happy late valentines day! been a crazy couple of weeks. had a blast in NYC, been back in LA working with The Rescues and writing some new songs of my own. i write all kinds of music- "Kyler" songs, tween pop, country and have recently collaborated with some DJs on dance tracks. here's a new one called "Flatline" that's gonna come out soon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYEyPpykxiY

headed to my homestate of NC later this week to play near Charlotte and in Raleigh. yay! excited to see all my hometown peeps and to visit my 93 year old Grammy Cole and getting a dose of her wisdom and wit. :)

some good stuff i've recently come across:

Slumdog Millionaire- just about the best movie i've seen all year, hope it wins the Oscar!
Ginger Altoids- hot and spicy, what more do you need?
Valentines surprises
waking up to rain in LA, pounding on the windowpane
grilled cheese @ The Foundry on Melrose (it's award winning!)
Laser Cats 4 (http://www.hulu.com/watch/55597/saturday-night-live-digital-short-laser-cats-4)
Rice Thai Kitchen in Park Slope Brooklyn (ok, have known about this for awhile but it's the best of the best!)
Fringe- from the people that make Lost
really good milk chocolate- Trader Joes has a bar that rules and gives dark a run for its money

love and laser cats,
kyler ;)

Ask Kyler anything! Want to know the inspiration behind your fave Kyler song? What she's spinning on her iPod lately? Or why she named her cats Sly and Eve? Email in your questions to kylerenglandintern@gmail.com and Kyler will answer them in the next episode of The Striped Couch Sessions!

I'm writing you from the upper west side where it's snowy and the wind blowing off the Hudson could freeze ice a second time over! had a wonderful day today- starting with a cup of hot Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla Coffee from a real live DD cornerstore! i'm addicted to that stuff right now, i even recently bought some DD grounds at the grocery store to make it at home cause LA doesn't have DD. though i discovered LA *does* have antioxidant and protein boosted coffee that is probably equivalent to a one-hour pilates class and tastes like sh*t! that's the one thing i really miss about Gotham, the realness of it all. everyone in the streets, crossing paths on the way to somewhere and nowhere. except today i almost got hit by a b$*%ch driving a mercedes SUV on her cell phone. sigh...i admit it made me miss LA. :)

in a city with a million options for a night off on tour, i've been a total couch potato. it's too freaking cold to do anything else! just watched a fun chick flick, The Women, with my friend and hostess, Krystal, and her adorable chihuahua, Arsiay. (named after the record label of course) our fave quote from the film "don't be bitter, it leads to botox"! amen. and Arsiay gives a hearty woof!

if its too cold to go out where you are this Friday, tune into CBS' Ghost Whisperer and listen for the title track to my album "Simple Machine"! that's what i'll be doing :) this is the 3rd song they've used on the show. me likey GW :)

I also like free. do you like free? if so you should check out this cool new site where you can download music for free in exchange for spreading the word to a few of your music loving friends. it's called Noisetrade and i put my previous EP, "The Green Room Sessions" up there available for you to download in exchange for you making some noise! (click on the widget below)

well, it's bedtime here on the east coast. is it a bad thing to be dreaming of a cup of DD French Vanilla when your head hits the pillow? not because that's what i do, but if i did i would think i really had a problem. :)

love from coast to coast,
Kyler :)
