"Monsters of Cock Rock Disco" comp featuring some great tracks by friends of mine (DDD, Terminal 11 + Otto) + that Rage Template track I did. http://www.cockrockdisco.com/CRD2/albumpages/Crockp3-016-MoCRD.htmlI guess you can buy the 320 at itunes, too. I'm sure you're all launching up itunes right now to do that, when you can get the 256's for free, right? hahahaha. Also, there's a "monsters of cock rock disco" tour going on some time, I'd tell you to go but I'm not on the tour at all so whateverrrrr

I've been back for a week or so now... just wanted to post an update saying thanks to everyone who helped with the tour. The tour was good, I screwed up Moscow by not getting the Visa in time and getting conflicting info on what I needed to send. So sorry about that, working on a a metal song for those guys as an apology.
All shows were pretty awesome, not so many people at 2-3 out of the 7, but even 2 of those were still a lot of fun and well worth it. One of the shows was a disaster where a bunch of the acts cancelled, the promoter was nowhere to be found when I left (and hasn't contacted me since), I didn't get paid anywhere near what I was supposed to, etc. But the rest of the shows on the tour more than made up for that.
I definitely noticed that the type of music at most of the shows I played at has gotten slicker, better produced, catchier, simpler, etc. in the few years since I've toured last. That kind of made my tracks sound more like dancefloor-clearing noise in comparison. Being in Boston (where there's almost no regular parties w/ this sort of music) and not touring regularly, I'm completely removed from any sort of interactive crowd feedback that people get when they are making music in areas with lots of parties. I'm still writing stuff for what sounds good in my apartment, blasting it to myself on my shitty stereo speakers. I'd like to think there's some sort of noble purity to that, but really it's detrimental because it means certain areas of the music get focused on heavily while other parts get totally neglected. Also it makes playing out live a crapshoot, since when I finally do it, I can tell certain stuff would go over way better even if I had done things just slightly differently. But it's also kind of unfortunate to me that some of the stuff I hear played out is totally bog-standard and is obviously a result of that crowd feedback loop, to the point where it's almost like the jump-up equivellent of breakcore. There's nothing wrong with making what people want to hear, but (to get all old farty) I can remember when this music was an alternative to slick overproduced "dancefloor-ubeor-alles" stuff, with some people trying out different crazy shit... it's relative success has meant that it's become totally sanitized, standardized, and contained in the same way as any other well-established dance music subgenre.
Anyway, sorry for that self-important rant. Thanks & respect/hello to the following for their help / hospitality/ hanging out:
MMC Crew(Aron, Fred, guy who showed us the good indian place, dude that looked like Dave Public), Jason & Jen, Sam Kanji +gf, Fred's gf, Juan Carlo, James Bangface + crew, Mark, Simon U, Thomas Meca, Dan P, Armin, Alex, Demon Cabbage, the girl who took the train from brighton to bristol to see me play there, Jurgen, Val, Ryan, Val's brother, the dude who booked me at a giant castle in middle of nowhere Germany and put me up in a big completely empty hostel (totally surreal combination!), his girlfriend who made a crazy huge food spread for the artists, ZombieFleshEater, LXC, Eddd, Basti Fantasti, Tom & BabyShaker

Just an update - tour has been going really well, all shows and the people I've been staying with have been wicked so far - thanks so much to MMC Crew (esp Fred) in Paris, Juan Carlo in Madrid, James + Laurie in the UK!! I'ts been quite a while since I played Europe so I feel a bit out of date w/ my tunes, in the few years I've been gone it seems like "breakcore" stuff has streamlined a lot, become slicker and dancier to the point where my stuff really has little to do with it aside from just vague aesthetic similarities. But, at most shows so far, people have been champs about putting up with my crazy splatterbreaks. Anyway, I'll be on Simon Undeground's radio show tommorow, http://www.kraftyradio.com/ some time between 8 to 10 pm UK time. I'll be doing a short live set plus maybe playing a couple of records from the absolute fuckton of oldschool vinyl I've been scoring over here... tune in!

Mark N Show ruled!! I'm too lazy to do a writeup, so here's what I said about it on the crd board: Boston show was suprisingly awesome (REALLY awesome for Boston). Mark rules and loves oldschool hardcore/jungle almost as much as me (I said ALMOST)... he straight up killed it. At one point, a friend of mine working the door was like "man I wish he would do more scratching", then I walked to the stage and he actually had been beat juggling 2 breakcore records the whole time... but was doing it tightly enough it sounded he was spinning 1 record. He had an entire room and a half full of people, 95% of who had no idea what a "bloody fist" is, absolutely loving it for 90 minutes straight.
As for new tunes etc, I'm going to be trying to do new tunes over the next few weeks in anticipation of some new shows.... both some ravin' stuff but also some grind like the short songs on Necrobestial Sadobreaks. If you thought those short tunes were too ridiculous / wanky, you are going to HATE this new stuff. Rather than sampling guitar from my old metal vinyl, I'm going to be doing tracks w/ the guitarist of one of my favorite grind bands. Just got a CDR of his guitar parts in the mail today, can't wait to start cutting these riffs up!

Current mood: accomplished
Since I've been writing songs really slowly the past couple of years, I haven't put out an EP in a while. To break this up, I just did a free net EP for CockRockDisco, called Necrobestial Sadobreaks. As the name implies, it's got a bigger metal influence than my album, especially in a bunch of short grind blast style tunes. Even though this is a free net release, these definitely aren't "b-side" tracks or stuff I just had laying around from ages ago... these were all tracks I was going to eventually use on a "real" physical release somewhere along the line. But why wait when the tracks are around now? Anyway, the link: http://www.cockrockdisco.com/CRD2/albumpages/Crockp3-009.html If anyone is diametrically opposed to net releases like this and insists on a physical format, maybe I will make a mailorder CDR version limited to 15 or something. Also, If you like it, please share the link around!!

On Friday September 5th, Mark N is playing Boston!!! In case you don't know, Mark N ran BLOODY FIST Records, was one of the members of NASENBLUTEN, did super sick early techstep goodness and crazy midpaced sickness as OVERCAST, among other projects. These days, he spins a combination of dark dnb, breakcore, hardcore, and all sorts of craziness into tight deadly sets. Did I mention he's a former DMC champion of Australia?? We're talking serious turntable skills, not wack laptop DJ n00b stuff. Anybody into hard and crazy electronic music seriously needs to go to this show, talent like this simply doesn't exist in Boston and practically never comes to the city!! I'll probably be playing a set and/or spinning b2b with my buddy Brian. Rest of the lineup to be decided soon. If you're interested in more info, please im me on here, or email me at pete.devnull @TTTTT (gmail )... The show is at a dope warehouse in the city, accessible by T.

This Sunday, June 29th, Renegade Drive In is going to be screening "Notes on Breakcore", the Austrian documentary on Breakcore w/ interviews w/ me and a billion other people in it. It's at a secret location in the South End in Boston. Check the URL below for info on finding it out. It's drive-in style (in an in-door parking lot, with the video projected on a giant wall), so a car is suggested. If you're like me + don't have a car, at least bring something to sit on + a personal radio to tune into the audio. There's also going to be some sets by me + a bunch of other people. Starts at 8:00 pm, goes until ?? For more info and how to find out the location: http://www.renegadedrivein.org
