So the inaugural Welfare Clinic took off on a freezin November night in Merrion Square behind the Dálls of power and bullshit
The idea behind the show is to promote the sounds of Dubstep and Jungle, particularly those of indigenous producers who can bring their computer file creations and play them on the 12 inch platter using Serato scratch live- ah te wonder of modern technology1
Old school methods will however will be in use to bring you the phattest sounds from the global scene.
Guest in the studio on the inaugural night was Konspiracy of the Dirty Collective and more broadly the Dublin Dubstep Massiv
Catch his tunes and mixes as well as gig dates etc here-
www.myspace.com/konspiracydub Welfare got things off and running with tracks from Nero,Goth Trad (Law) and DZ (Old Timers) among others as well as the B-ide on the summer release by Mr Free X namely 'Junglist' - a very dark and lurking tune to chew on
Konspiracy then spun for a chunky half hour with a nice blend of 2 steppy womblers as well as some really filthy 12s (for the tracks message him, them thr records took a long time to amass!

A little bit of a change of pace as WF spun a cúpla Jungle and DnB numbers - including 'Excluive' by 'Exclusive' ,the Clipz remix of TC's Wheres my money?' and the really really fucking amazing stomper 'Terror Wars' by Ray Keith
On to Konspiracy again then as he took to the Serato he rattled out some homegrown dubstep dynamos from te likes of Crysis,Major Grave,Grizzle,16Hz and of course Konspiracy himself..the ir in the studio was heavy from the bass lines, the Irish producers are really starting to find their feet ,somewhere in space!
Major Grave and Subone came in the next week ,that show was a bit mad but the tunes were su-poib - -Listen/Download that one at

http://www.divshare.com/download/5859576-85aIll be standing in the Welfare clinic waitin for me dub benefits alone next week - Gonna do a 30 tracks in one hour mix
Expect to hear the Clinic continue in the following weeks with the likes of Oshroom,16hZ and Johnny Oakley hittin the decks with a fistful of sub -

Welfare Clinic Q2 - 19/11/08 -

- Major Grave v SubOne v Welfarehttp://www.divshare.com/download/5859576-85a So
the second installment of the Welfare Clinic took place the otha nighth
in Raidio na Life studios with special guests Major Grave and Subone
Welfare
opened with Radikl Guru's (Cork) crackin new tune - 'No Good',followed
by 'Earth A run red ' by DMZ ,followed b that Radikal Guru tune again
(extended rewind!) and then Nero's 'Something Else' - new on Z-Audio

SubOne
then took to the decks playing a smooth mix of his usual hard hittin
numbers as well as some grimey goodies- ya wanna know the tracks - ask
him!
Next up was Major Grave who, using the power of Serato ,laid
down his own homegrown wibbly wobbly wonders on the 12' platter
including 'Hot Now' and te latest one 'Is he havin a laugh' (Is he...?)
BhuelFéar
dropped 'The Clown' by Goth Trad followed by the classic track 'Area'
by Optimus and Droid and Mr Grave finished an interesting evenings
entertainment off with more homegrown beats including his own 'Get Mash
Up' laid down on the time-code.

So
Welfare Clinic 3 had a packed house as Oshroom,Johnny Oakley and 16Hz
came in to join Welfare at the wheels of steel, not to mention half of
NASA that the heads brought with em - check out that old school synth
Beaming
us off into space at the start after some shaky equipment
put-togethering was WF with "element 16" by 12th planet followed by
"california style" by Noah D and then the Cork based Radikal Guru's
stonker "No good" .
Oshroom stepped up to the plate and lashed
out some of his wibbly wobbly wonders with a nice dark edge. Speakin o
dark a piece of floor or belly fluff then lodged itself on the needle
(as well as a brief power drop)throwing the entire show into
chaos.finely rescued by the consummate pro bringin in the classic
"Earth a run red" by the Digital Mystikz.
Fuck it thats live TV--!
Image HostingOnce
composure was suitably restored,on went the Osh until the boys Oakley
and Hertz jumped in with a lurvely selection of their own
homegrown, live in the studio - a suitably broad selection of their
creations from dark to dramatic and right back again-- flavoursome.
Image HostingOshroom
then gave the jungle massiv something to toke on with some fine
examples of how to rearrange the amen break so it sounds like a
demented drummer piped on fit into that red dress breakfast cereal.
Johhny
O crept in one last time with a track fresh off the ironing board that
day - an hypnotic and lullabying choon to while all the late night
dubcrawlers off to the land of wink.

So
the fourth installment of the clinic came around and we had a slightly
different flavour to the dole check dished out from Raidio na Life
studios
Joining WF were DeFeKT of the Deadbeat crew and Lightyear
who beamed in from an electrofunk galaxy far away (but still in Dublin)
WF on the open up with a nice harf an hour of Dubstep beats with a bit of funk and dancehall thron in there for good measure.
Openin
up was WF with a funk choon (thanks mick!) wound down into Warrior
Queens "Things Change" as shit was still gettin set up in the studio
(incl the wonky mike)
Swiftly on into Kode 9's remix of the HyperDub
"Massive Music" tune - as things finally settled down it was time to
get in the mix and first up was DZ's "Slums Dub",followed by
"California Style" by Noah D and then Sully Shanks " Give me
up",Synkro's "Respirator", "Examination of Time" by Babylon System and
Noah D and then our very own Major Grave's "Get Mash Up" - crackin
schtuff
DeFeKT kept it runnin along nicely with some real proper
electro clips ,nice and chunky ,synths rollin with a warehousey feeling
that ya just dont get from electro house or other such offshoots and
commercial misadventures.
Image HostingLightyear appeared out of
his hoodypod and climbed into the pilots chair with his midipod in
tow, smoothing out the clinic into a nice even flow of beats beats and
bass - with a few glitchey rhythms and loops thrown in thatd chase away
even the shittiest coldest evening Dublin 2 could chuck at ye

Welfare Clinic Q5 - 13/1/09 - Radikal Guru v
Welfare
So the first Welfare Clinic of 2009 saw a freezin nite on the outside but a swelterin one in the studio as the Radikal Guru, straight back from the Dam cooked up some lovely melodies coupled with yer susual welfare bread an butter
Have a listen/download at http://www.divshare.com/download/6365206-b7b
With the usual last minute setup probs cleared the irst cupla tracks started things off nice an mellow with Massive Musics Kode9 remix,Sukh Knight and then Cokis new one "Triple Six" followed by the absolute fucking classic "Anti War Dub" by the Digital Mystikz
Following Mungos HiFis "Mash Up" the Guru stepped to the plates and tore into Dub warfare with a series of chunky numbers including his own tracks "Strong Dub" (Huge!!) and "No Good"
After half an hour of ferocity i gave the man a break with a bit of Kromestar promo (Thanks to SubOne for the I.D),LFO Business by the Alchymist, crankin it up a notch with the absolute skreamer "Wobble that gut" (3.13) followed by "Down" ,the merciless tune from Hell, via D.Z
The Guru floated back to the decks and dropped in the classic 3K Lane, his own "Conspiracy" track as well as a Kromestar classic "Budwise"-----a bit of Nero later and then a beauty of a 2-step almost housey tune to finish Mike Lennon- "BrassEye" ,the remix by Reso
Then a wee bit of inexplicable jazz house came on-and why not!
Top show!-

Big ups to the Radikal Guru for comin on,and to the 313 posse for the craic

Welfare Clinic Q6-Miles Iwes (IDM set) v
WF-Listen/DownloadListen/Download the mix ---
..
http://www.mad-box.net/store/mixes/..
So Welfare Clinic numero 6 saw Miles Iwes join WF in the studio for a change of pace-the spellbinding rhythms of IDM
On
a freezing cold night in the capital the often criticised style (mostly
owing to an unfortunate title) warmed up the studio with Miles playing
a series of interesting tracks ranging in tempo, mood and energy

The
WF serving was (accidentally) of the bread and butter of the
relentless-merciless-tech-dub-step scene at the beginning (mostly owing
to us still getting our shit together and a maze of leads needing
plugging in) with DZ,Sukh Knight and Caspa all getting some air time as
well as the 2nd tune on the A-side of "Around the World Vol 1" a
stomper called "Whisper" by "Scandalous Unlted"-
Once things were up
and runnin Miles took to the turntables and, using vinyls as well as
Serato brought the vibe through a journey of twisted beats, ambient
rhythms, glitchy loops and some downright trippy shit
Some really beautiful music was turned including tracks by artists such as Plaid and Vaccine (Christine Clements)
Miles stepped to the plate several times with a cupla focail deas as well Big Ups!!
A different, but very very satisfying Clinic altogether

Check out Miles' mixes, gig info, pics and all that at ..

and dont forget the parastate project ..
http://www.parastate.netWelfare Clinic Q7 - Teishi-1 v Welfare --
Listen//Downloadhttp://www.divshare.com/download/6540964-a0bBe jaysus
Another show ,through the shite and the snow we made it to RnaL studios
DJ
and producer Teishi-1 joined me on WF Clinic 8,bringing probably the
most white labels Ive ever seen in the studio along with him-and i
didnt get to nick any-
I spent a large part of the night trying to decipher the genesis of em!
After
a couple of chunkers from Rusko,Crooked One and some promo from Ringo
Records (cheers T-Woc!) T-1 stepped up crackin out a funky opener from
Joker,2D by Skream (on da rewind >} ) D1 Cocaine,Aphex Twin and
Benny Ill

A
few tunes from WF included the irrepressible Sukh Knight and his MASSIV
"Diesel not petrol" (cant play it enough..),a Kromestar promo and an
extremely (stealthily) pacey tune from the Anti Hifi mob called " La
Corperation" (from their EP "Electric Lazy"),the amusingly named Taz
Buckfaster and DZ's now-classic "Old Timers"

Teishi-1 wobbled back to the decks and gave us a fine half hour blast of filth and finesse combined
White
labels dominated the set but a cupla recognisable numbers filled in the
gaps for this reporter including Reso's absolute howler "If ya cant
beat em",a fat as fuck remix of the Prodigys legendary "Their
law",Ruskos hilarious "Mr Chips" and an unidentified stomper at around
81 minutes that had me leaping around like a crazed consumer in the
January sales
Gram o the finest green to the punter who gets te name and artist of this one-----
Teishi sent a sleepy message out to the faithful at thhe end with Skream's one for the heads who remember"
http://www.divshare.com/download/6540964-a0b

T-1
Teishi-1 started producing under the name Pad-1 two and a half years ago
writing left field electronic music.
He did a remix on M. I. As online
piracy funds terrorism of her track "bucky done gun" ,available as an
online download.
Months later he changed his name to Teishi-1 and started producing grime
and dupstep influenced tracks.
Apart from producing ,Tesihi has been found lurking around such beatports as
(the sadly missed)Mcgruders,Bernard Shaw and Rira and slingin his trade for promoters and events like assquake,
the nice up, cityfest, and DEAF
Word
is that Teishi has a cupla Ep sized productions on the boiler, hopefully
we'll see some of this grab a release in the near future--
Welfare Clinic Q8-Listen/Download-Gon v
WelfareListen/Download at : http://www.divshare.com/download/6592315-d23
Q8 fell into RnL studios with the sounds of doom n gloom all around,a welcome relief so,that Gon was coming in,sure to have a sweet-as collection of goodies to oscillate them thar blues away - and he didnt disappoint
Me on the hasty open up as always ,ths time with Mungos HiFis skankin "Dubplate ft Dem" then Polizia" (despite the best attempts of the mixer!) out on the white label from the shockingly consistent War series (008) and one tune later the current Scottish bass champions again Mungos HiFi,Im tellin ya they are setting quite a formidable trend with their releases - very heavy stuff!
Then a real treat was in store as Gon served up some of his homegrown flavours including some demos from his collavorative effort with A.K called "Theoretics" - these were "Let's roll',The sound within','Stepping on the wire' and 'Vishnu'
Some tracks from Gon himself then including his fresh and newly mastered track '6' and 2 demos both entitled 'Untitled 2-step'

WF stubbed it out comin back in with the now strangely homely sounds of RSD's Cavegirl (on Cult001) ,a Kromestar promo, Sukh Knights newbie on the always great purchase "Around the World" EP from True Tiger (Vol2 this time),and a wee bit of L-Wiz to lull Gon back in sensi style.
A lovely 35 minutes of beats and tight mixing followed----tracks from the man of many names included Optimuz's stonker "Brand New","Crispy Rolls" by Enei (hooooj!!) as well as some classic Benga rollers
Tracks
Sharmaji ft. Maggie Horn 'Break your heart' (Soul Motive)
2562 'Embrace' (3024)
Roxy vs El-b 'Breakbeat Science' (Bison)
Geiom & Earlybird 'Geile Zwazo' (Berkane Sol)
Optimuz 'Brand new' (Optimuz)
Enei 'Crispy Rolls' (Subway)
Benga 'Crunked up' (Tempa)
Kulture 'Lost Emotions' (Disfigured dubs)
Skream 'Filth' (Tempa)
Dz 'Unknown Dub' (Lodubs)
Unknown 'Horns' (white)
Digital 'Rifle Riddim' (Mission Impossible)
