In the movie Being there Peter Sellers made a statement without words, by walking on the water.
Although he was a fool in the movie everyone thought he was great. He died soon
after that movie. There are many others that I know of that did things similar
and died. There are so many things that God lets get by knowing that repentance
is coming, but mockery is very dangerous.
Galatians 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth,
that shall he also reap.

One of the most common mistakes people make when preparing
food is overcooking it. It is usually out of fear. Sometimes God turns the heat
up in our lives to get rid of something inside of us that is harming to
ourselves and to others, but he is never moved by fear and he never overcooks
even though it feels like it sometimes.
1 Peter 4:12
Beloved, think it not strange
concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though
some strange thing happened unto you:

I have drawer after drawer of songs that I’ve written that I
spent a lot of time and effort on that never amounted to much. When I open the
drawer it makes me sad. It makes me wonder about other composers, if they do
this too? I would really like to cut my losses and start changing the ratio to
be more in my favor. It seems I write a good one every 5th or 6th
song. I really need God to help me on this. Here is my hope; James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,
and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.....

I had a young friend; Jon Duke, co-lead with me last night.
It was his second time to lead worship. His parents; Dan and Marti Duke were
some of my first pastors and much of what I know about worship I learned from
them. As we got to the offering song I realized every song we did was about God’s
love. Then Robin McMillan got up and his message was about the same thing and
none of this was planned. I was reminded of when my mother was going in for an
operation and all of us kids were in the room and I got the idea to all of us
to tell her how much we loved her, but I was afraid it would scare her like she
wasn’t going to make it and I chickened out. I went back home and got the news
that something went wrong and she came out of the simple operation on life
support with no brain waves. I remember praying with Robin for another chance.
I went down and played a harp in her room for 3 days and she came back and was
moved out of ICU. I was able to tell her everything I wanted to and we had a
great conversation. The angels which she saw and described to me came in and
took her home right after I left the hospital to let her sleep. The lesson here
is; most people don’t get a second chance like that. Tell your loved ones what
they mean to you today, don’t wait for a tragedy, or a funeral.

For the next
month and a half I am going to the mountains every week for 2 to 3 days
to get alone with the Lord and to write for a studio CD I want to start
in January. I know this is going to stretch my schedule to the breaking
point if I don't watch it so I am going to start planning my days so as
not to waste any time and not let my family be neglected when I am
home. I noticed that Jesus would always do something like this before
he would do his most noted miracles; go and get away alone with God, so
here I go. Mountain Joy.

I've had many
nights lately where my sleep was interrupted constantly. This usually
happens when I have something important coming up and little devils try
to wear me out before I get there, but I don't have anything more than
normal that I know of, but they must think I do. For those of you who
don't believe in such things I feel sorry for you. Just because you
don't believe in them, does not mean they are not real. Your believing
does not validate or invalidate the truth. Satan is a very real enemy
and he is ruler over many a fallen spirit, and they have great
deceptive powers and must be dealt with in the spirit not in the flesh.
Our weapons, which are not carnal, are our words and nothing else, our
faith, truth, salvation, and preaching are all defensive in nature. But
our words are like swords coming out of our mouths.

My daughter
pulled out in front of a car last week and was hit really hard. We
found out her car was not insured and so I had to pay for the other
people's car as well as rent a car for them. Plus her car is totaled.
We all make thousands of decisions everyday but one wrong decision can
change everything. This can also just as easily work in a positive way.
One good decision can be a great benefit. We used to sing a song back
in the Jesus movement days; "I have decided to follow Jesus". That is
one decision I never regretted.

When leading spontaneous worship with our students, one of the hardest things for me to teach is how to listen to each other. It's an exercise in preferring, of restraining, and knowing when to start and when to stop. How long to stay on the same phrase or chords. For me the ultimate will be when we are all so in tune with each other spiritually and musically that we don't have to have mundane repetition. Where we flow from one thought to another and everyone knows where they themselves and everyone else is. I believe it's called unity. LEO

A long time ago in a far away land, before there were banks,
the Rich ones loaned money to the poor ones to buy their dwellings, charging
unwarranted usury, thereby becoming fabulously richer than before, but not as
rich as they wanted to be. And it came to pass that a new king rose to power
that was young and had a heart for the poor. The Rich ones seeing his heart
came and told the young King; “We will not loan anymore money to the poor ones
unless you give us some free money, we will call it a bail out package, for
lack of a better term.” The young King answered; “Where am I to get this
money?” “We will loan it to you replied the Rich ones, also your enemies will
loan it to you”. “And how are we to pay this back retorted the young King”.
“You must tax the poor ones, where else would you get it? This kind of money
does not grow on trees.” The young
King did as they had demanded and the Rich ones got richer and the poor ones
got poorer. I am so glad this is only a story, aren’t you?
