Our pal Jeff at TheCultureofMe just conducted an interview with us called 'Getting Sassy with Flashmen.' Here's a snippet:

If you know nothing of Flashmen, you obviously have been doing nothing of the sort in terms of living a life with online capabilities, because this trans-US duo (Brooklyn DJ/producer Bradley D and Chicago ace vocalist Daniel E) have been blowing up Hiroshima-style over the last few months, with people picking up their single "Flashmen Theme" b/w "Little Wildkat" with the sort of quickness implied by the word "fervor". They're gearing up for even more releases, remixes and a takeover faster than you can say "dreamwave". We sent our questionnaire off to Bradley D (right) and he discussed Double Exposure, plug-ins, the Valerie Collective and Indiana house parties.

First album bought on your own?

Dinosaurs’ Big Songs featuring the breakout hit, “Not The Mama!”

Favorite song memorized as a child?

I can’t remember if it’s Warrant, "Cherry Pie" or Vanilla Ice, "Ice Ice Baby".

When I sing in the shower, it’s usually:

Mr. Big, "To Be With You" or Buddy Holly, "That’ll Be The Day".

The one song that must be on every mixtape is:

Alternative Reality, "Get Away (The Outrunners
remix)".

GO READ IT, DUMMY!!

Our pals at My Old Kentucky Blog (thanks Rumi and Dave for the hookup!) featured two of our new tracks on XM Radio yesterday!!! The channel was 'XMU' and they gave a nice shoutout on the air. Huuuuge thanks!!! :)

Here's what they had to say about us:

MOKB photogs DDE and Rumi have been telling me about Flashmen for a couple months now. I met them down at SXSW, but have didn't get a chance to see them perform. DDE and Rumi did though and said is was synth-heavy, funktastic dancey-dance goodness. They sent over a couple tracks a few days ago from their upcoming Spyhunter album.

The band consists of Bradley D, a DJ from NYC's Famous Friends and Daniel E, a singer/songwriter from Chicago. They tell us: "Their music takes you back to the days when you were young and idolized Don Johnson and Tom Selleck as they drove around town making witty quips before taking a beautiful woman home." Bradley describes their sound as "blending the soft romantic 80's ballads of our childhoods with a little bit of funk."

Flashmen - Flashmen Theme
Flashmen - Little Wildkat

Jeff "The Culture of Me" Meltz, aka NYC's greatest friend and photographer ever, wrote up a great post about us as an 'Emerging' artist!! Check ittttt.

"
Little did you all know, but two dudes from Brooklyn/Chicago called Flashmen seem to love everything 80s way more than the combined attention spans of the cast from the VH1 show--and us--combined. Bradley D (whose been gunning it as a DJ with Famous Friends
for a super while now) and Daniel E have been working together via the
Internets and the like for a bit now under their new duo moniker,
creating totally rad synth-drums-and-stuff tracks that exude big hair,
big synths and--here's reaching and hoping--big success. They're today
releasing unto the world their first tracks from their upcoming record Spy Hunter,
"Flashmen Theme" backed with the arpeggio-friendly ballad(?) "Little
Wildkat", and the two tracks combined are so enticing and appealing to
most everyone's ears we can think of that they should seriously just
keep a count from today until their imminent takeover--which shouldn't
be very long from right this minute. Basslines, disco and suave-as-fuck
everything ruminate like whoa with Flashmen. Oh yeah, and if you're in
town this Friday night, dudes are DJing at Europa with the never-played-the-US Aussies, Bag Raiders.(mp3)    Flashmen - Flashmen Theme(mp3)    Flashmen - Little WildkatGodspeed!"<3 <3 <3 JEFF!!

The awesome kraut Aleks over at Discodust has written up a RAD feature on us.. check it out!!

"bradley, dj from new york's famous friends and daniel, singer/songwriter from chicago are flashmen. going by the name and the wonderful artwork they commissioned from the zonders,
you can probably guess what they are up to: a sci-fi-riffic blend of
teenage memories and futuristic funk. and if you think you have heard
it all before: no! no! no! definitely not!

flashmen
sent over two tracks for their debut blog appearance and seriously, it
couldn't be any better. the driving arpeggiated bassline, lazer string
hits and daniel's great vocals in 'little wildkat' are supported by
some of the best use of horns that i have heard in ages, reminding me
of eighties new wave hits. the whole combination should also make this
track attractive for people who are hardcore into dfa records or regular listeners of beats in space.

flashmen - little wildkat

the
second track 'flashmen theme' (which should probably have been the
first in this post but yeah, i can't ever do anything right) is a more
playful and melodic affair from the world of spaceships, leisure suits
and martini-sippin' - this time featuring bradley on the vocals,
showing the more vulnerable side of flashmen, asking 'can you feel it in the air?'. i definitely can!

flashmen - flashmen theme

having these tracks for a while and still being heavily addicted to both of them, i am glad flashmen
are finally getting their name out there because they are definitely
one of my favorite new acts and i expect big things to come from them
and will definitely keep you posted. become a friend on myspace and follow flashmen on twitter."

THANKS DISCODUST!!!

Huge thanks to our friends from the sunny west coast!!

Binary are a group of Californians who are tired of the douchey hard electro club environments that are sadly becoming the stereotype of their great state! We met them for the first time at SxSW and we couldn't ask for nicer dudes to post the first Flashmen feature!!

They captured a rad vid of our set at Canvas for the Lose Control party and now you can check it out:
