Hi guys,
I suppose I should keep this blog updated a little bit since people keep looking at it, huh?
I guess so...
I'm at the studio right now and I just tracked the vocals for "Sing It Out Loud" - a new rendition of "Don't Listen" (you can find it on my youtube channel).
I's sounding greeeeeaaaaat!
Oh, I'm so excited.
Andy Leftwich played fiddle on the song and it's a "countrified" pop song about following your dreams despite what people tell you. Lovin' it. Seriously.
My sister added some great vocal harmonies when she was in town last weekend. She's an amazing musician and I can't wait to have her down here in TN with me! It's going to be a blast to be able to play shows, see shows, write songs, jam out to goofy songs, and just spend time together.
Do you have siblings? It's wonderful, isn't it? I mean... I know there's a stage in life where they seem more irritating than anything else, but it's such a blessing to have those automatic best friends in your life! They know you inside and out and love you even so.
Julia and I always joke about how we "bring out the burps" in each other. I never burp. I'm quite ladylike for the most part and I don't even talk about bathroom duties or anything like that in public! I mean. NEVER. I don't even talk about that at home or with my close friends or boyfriend! When Julia and I are together being goofy, though, it seems like we can't stop burping! I don't know why! I can't even begin to explain it to you! Haha! We'll be in the car singing along to silly music and suddenly one or the other of us burps. That inspires the other to try. It's gross, but oh so fun...
A little thing you never knew about me :)
Hey - are you on Twitter? Will you follow me? I'd really appreciate that. Sometimes my tweets are just lame nonsense about my day, but other times they're kinda fun. I'll keep you informed about what good food I ate, what crazy car I saw, that smelly person in the drive-thru window at Starbucks, a cute puppy I wanted to steal, a nice person I met at the grocery store, a song I wrote, an accident I had, etc. I'll do my best to entertain you...
Oh - I guess Miley Cyrus was at my Starbucks the other day! I missed her, unfortunately, but now I know what vehicle she drives and I'm on the lookout. My youngest sister would FLIP OUT if I got a picture with Miley. I have to admit, despite what people might say, I like her too. "Hannah Montana" was an adorable show and "The Hannah Montana Movie" made me happy. I saw it in the theatre with my baby sister and a good friend of mine. I'd be thrilled to have a picture with Miley and to have her sign something for us!
I really would. Wouldn't you? I mean, come on!
I work at Starbucks in Cool Springs (Franklin/Nashville), TN. Apparently a lot of celebrities come through. To be perfectly honest, I don't pay a lot of attention to celebrities and probably wouldn't recognize them even if I took their order! Kings of Leon, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Faith Hill, Miley Cyrus, and more. Many of the people that come through are Christian music artists and a lot of the guys are musicians in famous bands. They may not be well-known, but they're EXTREMELY successful and VERY cool. I wish sometime I could just ask everyone in the store what their story is! I would learn the craziest things, I'm sure. Oh, and we have women drive through with the biggest, sparkliest rings I've ever seen! They drive Range Rovers and have perfect teeth, hair, skin, clothes, etc. There are a lot of beautiful people here, and I think it's because so many of them are successful! Craziness.
I just had a conversation with a guy from my church about beauty.
Funny how physical beauty means more than anything else to some people.
I have to admit - I'm often insecure about my physical appearance because I know the world focuses so much on it! I don't fit the mold. I don't know how I could ever fit the mold! I'm no Jessica Biel! Hmm...
Sad, really.
If you're ever feeling down about the way you look and you need a little boost, please watch the video on my page entitled "Magazine". It's a song about a girl who threw herself away in order to look the way she thought she was "supposed to". I don't want to do that and I don't want anyone else to do that! Everyone was made exactly as they are, and it's so much more exciting that way!
Please check out the song. I think you'll like it.
As you can tell, this is a very random post. I'm in a funky mood right now. I'm at the studio waiting to sing the next song while Billy's in the other room on the phone. Something important, no doubt.
Hmmmm...
Oh my goodness. I met Landon Pigg's mom! She came to Starbucks and I was on the register for just a few minutes that afternoon. I was the one to take her order and she said I looked familiar. I told her my name was Anna and that I was new to town. She asked what I'm here for and I told her I was recording an album with a local producer. She told me her last name was Pigg, and it clicked. I asked her if she was Landon's mother, and she was excited that I knew of him. She was so sweet. She complimented him left and right. I'm sure she's incredibly proud. She knows Billy, too, so we spoke just a moment about him. I told her it was GREAT to meet her and that her son is amazingly talented. She thanked me and said it was "a God thing" that we met. I DO hope to see her again and I hope that I can co-write with Landon. Now that I've met his mama and she enjoyed me so much, it's probably even more likely!
How great would that be? He's great.
Woo!
Okay, so I never eat potato chips and I've never drunk an entire can of pop. I was doing the vocals for "Sing It Out Loud", though, and Billy thought it needed a little more edge. He stopped me and brought in a bag of Ruffles and a Pepsi. I ate a few and sipped a little bit of the soda.
Sure enough. Edge.
The acid and salt is what Billy said would do it.
I think it was just because I had food in my teeth and burps in my throat... !!!
Apparently Amy Grant (when she worked with Billy Smiley and Billy Whittington) used to really enjoy Lays. Haha! Cool...
What other silly information can I give you today?
Maybe I'll save it for later...
Oh, and HI HI HI to all my new friends! Thank you guys for accepting my requests and to those of you who came and found me! You're great. Absolutely great.
