FAQ: Frequently Answered Questions ;) a lot of people may already know what I will write here but I always end up answering the same questions over and over so here it is:

.I only work with a click (metronome) welcome in 2008!!!
.A shit track/ghost track is recorded with a click to create the song structure and to feed to the drummer for recording. (no need for a guitar/bass player to play during drum recording) this track will be deleted later and not used on the recording
.Before recording anthing else, I edit the drums (means I put every drum hit on the click, forget about your "drum feeling" in my words that means NOT TIGHT)
.aI sound replace the drums by samples made with the actual kit and the player to capture the "uniqueness" of the band and in a natural feeling (with dynamics) I never use the same samples twice, SO, if you have a good drum with new skin, it will only benefit you and not someone else...same thing if you have a crappy drum with completely destroyed skins....just to bad dude! it will sound like shit!
.b: change your drum skins BEFORE you arrive here and buy a couple pack of guitar strings (seriously!!!! 6$ each...) Same thing for bass.
.guitars are recorded using a DI and a POD, then, the clean signal is sent back to an amplifier and "reamped" that means: 1.you don't have to bring your amp for recording 2.we can change the guitar tone after its recorded using different amps/cabs.
.same thing for bass but replace POD with SANSAMP
.recording vocals, don't bring your mic and yes you will have to sing with a mic on a stand. a Shure sm58 is a good live mic but not a studio mic.
.I can do a lot of miracles but remember, sht in sht out, try to compare recording with photography, if you take a picture of a rock, don't expect to see a flower at the end, even with a lot of process, SO, that means, I can arrange drums, guitar and bass, but if you sing like crap, sorry dude but it will sound like crap at the end!

.mix: processing every single track (eq, compression, reverb, fx...) and then bouncing all the tracks to a left-right track (just like a CD)
.mastering: applying process to the mix (the left right track)
.mastering is also: putting the mix as loud as possible (its not just as simple as raising the volume...) setting the right length between songs and burning a cd for duplication.

.email me for pricing, it depends how much songs you have, the lenght of each songs (if you have 6 songs and the total lenght is 60 minutes...) and your band formation (more you have, more time it takes, more expensive the price is...)
.no I'm not a mobile studio, you have to come at my place
.a normal studio day is around 8 to 10 hours, sometimes 12 and I do work on week ends (actually I work all the time)
15. 1/3 of the $ is payable the first day of recording, the 2nd 1/3 when recording is finished and the last 1/3 when the mastering is finished. This way its easier to find money and helps me also.
a.DON'T ask me if I can record your album next week, thats impossible. Try to be at least 3-4 months in advance.
b.DON'T ask me to record your 12 songs demo for 200$ (seriously think about it)
c. First to come, first to get a recording spot, if you write me something like: "I'll talk about it with the band" and don't reply, doesn't mean we have a deal, I need a confirmation to book you studio time.
.since there is a lot of bands and I had some cheesy cancellations recently, I will soon take deposit to reserve studio time, both for me and for the band. You cancel, you loose your deposit. your band split before recording, just to bad.

.I don't deal with band issues, if you have to settle something with one of your bandmates, do it somewhere else! I'm not a psycholigist or a band therapist. I record and produce albums.
.pressure and stress are illegal at my place ;)
.I usually like to work with 1 or 2 people at the same time.
.yes this is my only job. The only time I can't work is when I have shows and/or band practice.
.There's no project more important than an other for me,
.Whoever you are, you're not more important than someone esle (I can't stand rock stars)
.I like good coffee
.I like good beer!
.Lets have some fun during the time we will work together

cheerz!

Yep, I do live sound, but since I'm always in my studio, I don't do it pretty often. If you need me, I'll try to be there

Wais, je fais aussi du son live, mais comme je suis toujours dans mon studio, j'ai pas vraiment souvent le temps de le faire, mais si vous avez besoin, je vais essayer de m'arranger pour etre la.
