"It's got this nerdy Renaldo and the Loaf if they was trip hop feel...."-Terror Apart

"Around 11, Telepathik Friend fried our brains with his animated “wrapping”, knocked some shit over and nearly strangled himself with mike chords in the process......If you can’t handle acts like Animal Collective, then seriously, stay away! But if you appreciate experimentation and find beauty in chaos then you would have enjoyed yourself thoroughly. A casual observer would probably scoff at Telepathik Friend rapping over psychedelic beats and intentional mike distortion or roll their eyes at his helmet made of day-glo pipe cleaners, but they aren’t paying any attention to what is really going on. "-J. Diablo

Warped and demented. Telepathik Friend aren't coming for you, they're already inside your head. They're here to remind you to seek truth (or is it untruth?). That florescent yarn rules your existence and that, in fact, you hardly exist at all.
You may as well put on your headphones and lay yourself out on the floor- you're gonna be there for a while. They are "a time travel tune that uses frequency and fabric for non-reality weaving". This all makes perfect sense after you've had a listen. Telepathik Friend use a slew of instruments, knick-knacks and utilities when performing. They're mysteriously cloaked masters of manipulating bizarre black hole sounds and completely insane live. Childlike and haunting, they're perfectly spaced out and momentous. If White Noise had a party with Os Mutantes and they both overdosed on heroin, they're spirits would join and, in turn, create Telepathik Friend.

"Encore. One more song....That music blew my mind"
-Miss Pussycat

" I love these kids. They have a ton of heart."
-Hans Grusel Krankenkabinet

"Three strange creatures appear from out of nowhere, seemingly clad in rags, jewels, fur, and bright, bright primary colors, looking like they stepped out of a particularly jarring scene (aren't they all) from the Dark Crystal. They assume places amidst Kirbyesque assemblages constructed at the foot of the stage. Mysterious pillars, cardboard/wooden instruments, and a small dais wrapped in Xmas lights, upon which perched a small four track recorder. Two musicians took places behind a fake organ and a fake guitar, soon to be miming, jerking and spasming like the Residents in super slow-motion or aliens reenacting the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. This is, of course, Omebi and the Telepathik Friends Orchestra. Telepathik Friend is a longrunning Jacksonville-based performance/art/music project, responsible for much of Jacksonville's currently raucous noise and improv scene. Tonight former member Omebi is stepping out on her own, with all new music and the "orchestra's" name as the only clue to her past. Omebi walked up to the dais and with a microphone in one hand and the other hand on the controls of a four-track recorder, began conjuring forth a whole alternate world of mysterious, fractured, ancient music. On this particular night (I saw Omebi again the next night and it sounded like a completely different set), she performed a set of new subliminal soundforms. Omebi's songs are more about the spaces between sounds than verse/chorus/verse zzzzzz-dom. It's Karen Dalton gulping for air in between words, it's Robert Johnson's fingers reaching for the next chord, it's the very walls of a church absorbing and buzzing with the sounds of Sacred harp singers, it's Sonic Boom's amps singing sweetly to one another long after all of the humans have left. This reviewer was somewhat reminded of Charalambides, Loren Mazzacane Connors, Fursaxa, the long forgotten Zeek Sheek and the Slits, but then again, it was nothing like any of them."-Matthew Moyer /// INK 19

Interesting proggy rock, like the fall meets circle, perhaps. The band has a loose, improvisational quality, though the songs have definite structure and vocals. They also exude a sort of mystical freak folk vibe, a la Animal Collective."
-Cactus///KUSF

"Telepathik Friend performed the other night and it wasn't all the crazy noise nonsense (though they had their moments) it used to be. In fact, I don't think i've heard anything more creative or inspired than that performance from local musicians." - Space Bartus (Erzulie)

Probably the one of the most killer events was the all day noise fest [put on by telepathik friend] in Jacksonville, FL. A small shop had local noise freakers jammin' outside on the sidewalk all day long followed by a big gig with Wolves, Laundry Room Squelchers, Wiese and My Telepathic Friends. The whole fest was amazing wtih stoker isolated sound weirdness, very inspring. Florida is the last hidden gem in the States."
-Wolf Eyes///WIRE Magazine// Best Music of 2006

Does everybody know how much Telepathik Friend rules!!? This crew is sick.
They had an all day blow out before the wolf eyes show..and then an all night session after show. We were so fucking tired, but had to go the distance with these freaks....The sickest.
-Connelly [Hair Police / Wolf Eyes]

(Homeless)(Garbage That
Came to Play)(Rag-time-travel) Telepathik Friend played which ive been
wanting to see for a while. maybe since wolf eyes hyped the shit out
of them when they were out here last. ok, its like the early Sun City Girls when they played tapes and went out into the audience to abuse folks with
odd objects as instruments strummed by air. this time it's with a diamond silver tamale subtubes. people were hit and rolled out of the way from the onslaught of flailing rags they wore. main shamble-pile really went after people aggressively getting up into the faces of the Organ Music (Spasm Band) kids whom i expected
to start a fight. the amp got the worst of it tho. skidding across the floor, that thing kept on screaming. once in a while you would hear a riff from the keyboards ala Sun Ra around Disco 3000 era. there was a lot of processed oscillation and vox all over it. it's a fuggin mess. rags...attack!! pretty entertaining."
-Grux of Caroliner

Once upon a time I was a Californian who moved to the south, specifically North Carolina. If I'm not mistaken Telepathik Friend also contains at least one ex-Californian. It looks as though they were significantly more successful than I was getting shit going. Anyway these freaks rock alien garbage band sounds that make you nauseous and giddy alternately. I say it's like vomiting on yourself in a moonbounce while have flash backs to being three years old. Total junkbox toy electronics tropicalism on a casio slow burn. Of course part of the allure is the costume and scenery that the band uses. Clashing fabric strips, like an exploded Joann Fabric melted to a bunch of transients faces. It's really good to see this kind of weird-out overload popping up in the South, especially since if I can at all help it, I will move back there one day. The rest of the country can keep talking bad about the South and some of it will be true, but it is cheap and beautiful. Come on people, you don't need to drop $400,000 to live by some rotted river in smog valley...And look you can now officially move to the South and keep up your freak lifestyle. You have rolemodels now."
-Nightpass Homemade Records

Telepathik Friend, the people that put on the awesome St. Noise fest earlier this summer in jacksonville. about 10 people, all dressed in creepy homemade costumes moaning and droning into mics and spooking the crowd and the regulars at the bar. went on a for a long time, but this just made it scarier, wasn't sure if i was still watching a show or if hell had just begun it's takeover of the southeast."

Everytime i see this band, all i can do is watch, and not look away. The way they operate makes you feel like you aren't watching a band, but like you've entered some alternate world. Who the fuck are these weird creatures, and what is this sound i hear? Telepathik Friend pulls me into the void, lowgun does the throat slit sign and shakes up the crowd. Prismatic backgrounds this time, against the lights makes this like some psychedelic third-grade lisa-frank bookcover nightmare."-Golden Axe

"Telepathik Friend… well, what can I say? In the photos it's hard to distinguish between the performers and the backdrop they created. It's just a big pile of glittery rags. Their noisy, raging performance was a perfect baptism of our new space." -Sean Carnage/Pehrspace/L.A.

"like a walmart train gone off the tracks of china."

"reminds me of kabuki"

"tears to my ears and shudders"

"i said stop playing!!!" -

"if you ask "is this for real?...i say "this is for real!....Harsh psychadelia tripped out mind drip!"

"like ghosts in a graveyard...almost opened up another dimension"

"otherworlds drifters vibrating in time to the ergot frequenqies of invisible shadows shrouded in the mysteries of the reality of non-realities"SUPER PIZZA PARTY or TELEPATHIK FRIEND ..kinda confused about who's who--whatever was those 5 people in risd patchwork swaying around.. that wwas pretty interesting, they came on strong in the beginning with unreal elf glossalalia dot dot dot vibes and settled into some kind of anti-personality averseness. weird.-INC07

Telepathik Friend go from two people to five! Last nights set was on
point. They have never been known for sonic destruction, but last
night changed that. Maybe it was Rachel on violin or the fifth member
or the fact that the Castle is really small."-HorsefleshSF

...Telepathik Friend also killed it with slow static, broken radio drone, that built with shortwave swells and some mutant voice leaking through, like somebody talking on the radio in between channels, where two channels fade together mixed with thick static... This however fell in on itself as their gear broke down... best way to end a night... while they may appear physically similar to caroliner... the sound is much different... I thoroughly enjoyed
it...--deep fried radio static

"Aren't you guys really the Residents?"- Ocelocelot

.....was in reference to Tel Ah Friend in response to your comment on having
bludgeoned ear canals and Caroliner comparisons. Without being too critical, I really thought they had a lot of similarities to Caroliner's visual asthetic, without the 1800s references and barnyard elements, of course. What's obvoius to me is a great deal of influence with the human disguise and flatdrops. You ain't see it??? I know the music is more abstract and non-rock, but my eyes tell another story. Ain't trying to be an jerk or anything, just stating my opinion......but then again, bands in Stan Franchesco were in neon lights in the early 80s and cement musicologists were communicating with magnetic tape long before I ever poked my head from my mothers' twat!
-Loachfillet [who named his band The Mummers...go figure!]

> Telepathik Friend pissed of the people who didnt like flying silver hotdog scoot boards in the face.People keep comparing them to Caroliner, at least 4 more since yesterday...If so, where are the > country chords and baroque barncatecture? Would be swell mindwaves if > they entered the Lord of Light land of Jack Kirby via this Raga > Wheel Vortex (bottom pic: http://www.lordoflight.com/art.html).-Agenerak

A Joyless Noise
I witnessed an OwlBeeMoth/Telepathik Friend show last year, and I
must say it was one of the most masturbatory musical experiences of
the year, right up there with Kanye West's ego-massaging set at
Lollapalooza (Cover Story, March 13). And to read Lowgun's defense
of his groups' aesthetic as "taking the artist off the pedestal"
and "removing the fact that someone's gonna be up there rocking out,
showing off their chops" disheartens me about a musical genre that I
happen to enjoy.
I would ask Lowgun what the difference is between a group of
musicians flailing about onstage in outrageous costumes, violently
showing off to the audience, and a show where young men in tight
leather pants sing cock-rock anthems about booze and boobs, complete
with blazing solos and wild pyrotechnics. Itâ€--s all performance, and
an ego-driven one at that.
What I experienced at the TF show, and at many "noise" shows I have
attended, is attention-getting showmanship, where any message is
buried under the distracting stage antics, with little or no
communication/collaboration between the members. In short, it's
bunch of people sonically jerking off in the same room.
I have no problem with performing, listening to or attending noise
shows, but to attempt to use it as an example of music culture
without ego is preposterous. And to attach a message to it runs
contrary to the whole mantra of the avant-garde.
You want a lack of ego? Go listen to a CD, where you aren't
distracted by colorful costumes and bratty flailing of musical
instruments. Sit in your room, turn up the speakers and enjoy, where
itâ€--s just you and the Glorious Noise.
Ryan Adams
St. Augustine via e-mail

Noise can be broken into two categories: True and Untrue. Most noise
makers, trying to be different and weird, fall into the "untrue"
category â€" trying to distract people from the few belonging in
the "truth" category.
"True" noise makers use the term â€--apocalyptic distraction music” as
a slogan to warn any uninformed listener that what is seen is a
complex illusion designed to enslave minds. Basically the "powers
that be" allow staged performances with the appearance of free
expression, using mind control weapons so that potential
revolutionaries will be content enough to be counted as benign to
the System's objectives. The fact is no matter how creative the
artist may be, they are simply conformist, showing others how they
fit into the big picture.
The truth remains unseen, unheard and unexperienced by the masses.
Even though some imagine what it might be, they are misinformed by
their external observations and uncontrolled internal nature.
However, I did find the article entertaining and I felt that the
writer did some good research. Mentioning Karlheinz Stockhausen was
awesome, but incomparable to any of the local "Noise" artists.
Yizrahkyah Ysrael

"Jacksonville is an asscrack. Always has been. Strong likelihood it always will be.
For several months throughout 06 and 07, however, it was slightly less stinky, thanks in no small part to young go-getter Lowgun, and his Asian theatre-inspired free skree ensemble, Telepathik Friend.
While TF's live performances were often less focused than I might have liked, their recorded output remains laser sharp and uniquely alien, recombining strands of Forced Exposure-approved folk psychedelia with the DMT-drenched science fiction fuckery of early Chrome. Their two core members are currently doing magnificent things in San Francisco, having recently abandoned wonky improv in favor of the more structured approach to strangeness offered up on their Myspace page, making this wonderful, yet woefully underdistributed compact disc the only recording of their spastic period most folks fortunate enough not to live in Duval County may ever get the chance to hear.

Telepathik Friend makes a cameo as the 'Outside City Dwellers'
in Damon Packards 2007 film ''Space Disco One''
a updated//sequel to 1984 and Logans Run.

part 1 [of the last twenty minutes]

part 2 [of the last twenty minutes]

Go to Damon Packards Myspace Page

and order the DVD off of him.

''Ultimately, Spacedisco-One is a darkly humorous look at how fucked up America has become in the last decade and how the media has fed that bizarre hunger the nation seems to have for pain and suffering. Packard takes a very heavy topic like that and presents it as a sci-fi eulogy to seventies cinema and throws in all sorts of random explosions and crazy characters to make sure the ADD crowd pays attention but this is still definitely more than just surface level weirdness. The film has something to say, and those perceptive enough to look beneath the surface and really think about some of the imagery and commentary the film is full of should find a bizarre but wholly rewarding experience. This is definitely an angry film, but Packard's got a lot to be angry about – too bad so many of us don't realize that his points are valid and that there's every reason to be pissed off at the government, at Hollywood, and at our own bad selves."---
