My new CD, Urban Vacation, with Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets) and Jeff Lorber, is all done. It will be officially released in the new year, but you may already buy it at my live performances. It's an album that REALLY kicks and I can't wait for the formal release. It's gonna be very exciting!

Hi everybody,
We're getting close to the completion of my new CD. I'm definitely stoked! I mean, with Jimmy Haslip and Jeff Lorber playing and producing it gets pretty exciting!

We all have tunes on the album and many are co-written between us. Pretty cool!

Tony Moore is on drums and Jeff Olson, who was on my previous album Traveler, is on it, too.

Jimmy's on bass of course playing some seriously kickin' stuff as usual - including some smokin' hot solos! - and a couple of tracks have Ernest Tibbs on them, who also played bass on my previous record.

Lorber's playing is of course as usual fantastic and very special! Besides playing and writing, he's churning out fantastic arrangements for this production (what else is new - it's Lorber at work!).

- And who's featured on guitar on several tracks? - None other than Mike Landau. He's smokin'!

Can't wait until it's all done and ready for release! Our tentative release month is June, so hold on. Yo feet be tappin' hard to this slammin' production!

Wow! We had an absolute blast last Saturday at the Brea Jazz Festival 2008. Crowd estimated at 2,500. Played two long concert sets with people nailed to their seats.

Very nice setting on a beautiful and balmy night. California dreamin'!

People lining up to buy my CD and for me to sign them. Very cool!

Thanks to the folks at Brea for producing this great event!

Tomorrow night, Sep. 14, we're at the Hip Kitty in Claremont, California. So, if you live out that way or are passing through, come on by! They serve food and have a full bar. - Details are under my listing of performances.

Hi everybody,
Just had the opportunity to play with my contemporary jazz group at the Mammoth Festival 2008 in Mammoth Lakes, California, sharing the bill with artists like Poncho Sanchez and Robben Ford!

What a beautiful setting for a festival! The site is nestled inside a grove of big pines with a great area for the audience to hang out all day, picnic, etc. I think the Sierra Nevada mountains are among the most spectacular mountain chains in the world and even though I'm a beach guy, I could play festivals there every day! We had an absolutely great time!

I will be posting pictures from the event.

Soon I'll start recording my next CD, something I'm very excited about. I'll keep you posted, folks!

Beautiful weather along the coast here in the L.A. area right now with fresh ocean breezes flavoring the night after the rain. It feels good, as we've had just a few days of rain this past year.
