Current mood:  confident

So, it's been around, 6 months or so, which means, it's time for another blog! It's been an interesting year, seems like ti went by too fast, then again, what years doesn't? Made a new years resolution, it's... drum roll... to live. I find too many times we pay attention to where we're headed, or where we've been, not that those are bad things, just that we pay them too much attention, & lose perspective. Sometimes, in the midst of all that reflection, we forget we're actually alive right now, & continuing what I said last blog, it's the only thing that's real, this particluar moment. so, I want to live it to the best of my ability, & not waste it.

You may have noticed I've uploaded 2 new songs since last blog, & wouldn't ya know, one of them is named "Only the Moment"! How's that for a segue? It's actually an older track, maybe 4 years or so, probably 5ish. I originally composed it back when I was still learning how to write music. It was phase I went through where I was making themes for myself & everyone in my life. This particular one was my theme. It's been through a few revisions since that original incarnation, & I've applied alot of what I've learned through the years to it. I think it actually nails me & where I'm at right now exactly. I'd go into more detail about that, but i'll let the music speak for itself. Fun fact: The song was originally called "Joker's Lullaby" & was purely orchestral.

The other track, called "Die on My Feet" is from the quote mentioned in the subject line of this blog, said by Emiliano Zapata. You may recognize the track from the Prima demo I posted a while back. It too has morphed a bit since that intial version. As have the plans for the album. I've decided to split it into 2 different ablums, as well as postpone Prima. Why, you ask (I'm gonna pretend you did, else I'd have no reason to continue this)? Well, as you can probably tell, the track is pretty heavy & darker than the stuff I was planning for the album. Seems the events as of late, horrible as they are, are inspiring a different tone of music from me at the moment. I've been in the mood to write more aggressive, rock inspired electronica. Also, I've been lsitening to alot of Prodigy, Pendulum & the like. Also, a lot of movie & game soundtracks, so expect to hear some thumping orchestral mixed in the new tracks.

Splitting Prima & making a concept album. I wasn't sure about this idea, even though it'd been planned out in my head for a few weeks now. I kept going back & forth, then I heard an album from one of my favorite artists, BeatDrop, titled Revolution. It's the same general idea as mine, inspired by the current state of affairs around the world, & it's awesome. Download it, it's free. If you like it enough, leave a little donation, why not. Where was I, oh yeah, I heard it, read the liner notes & lyrics, & was even more inspired to follow through with my idea. thus, "Die on My Feet" was born. It's the working title for the album. Not sure what the final name will be, or if I'll keep this one.

Well, that's about it, I also wanted to thank everyone who is a fan, all my friends & family. Last year was epic, here's hoping this one will be too!

 Later lates,
David

But the real question is, how much wood could it chuck? Yup, I just blew your mind.

So, it's been a while since my last blog... like almost a year! Wow. Where have I been, you might ask (but I doubt it). Well, I've been busy with work & stuff, also The Dark Knight blew my mind with it's social commentary. Ledgers Joker is my favorite movie character now! I'm also in a weird place with my life right now. Like, I need to figure out what to do in the future, even though that future looks mighty grim, all things considered. Though it has made me look at little things in the here & now, I mean, we only really have this moment. Everything else is an illusion.

As for music, well, I've finished a few remixes, one for Zircon a while back, I might put that one up on the player again. Also, 2 for SGX, it's on a the ITransmitThis EP, click the link for some short demos, as well as how to buy it. It's good stuff! Oh yeah, I have another in the oven from Jillian Goldin's album "Origins". It's slow going, but I'm getting there.

I'm sure some of you have noticed "Solace" up there in the player. It was done with my friend 2P. It's an arrangement of the Zelda Select theme. It took 2 years for it to get finished, but it was worth it. Also, I've decided to put up a new Demo of the album I've been working on for who knows how long. Now that I have more free time, it's getting there, but I still have a ways to go. Inspiration seems to be coming to me more & more, the more I pay attention.

Well, that's about it. There are things in the works, & if they go through, I'll post it. Enjoy the demo!

Now, for those of you that come here for the music, this is the place in which I talk about it, in this paragraph. If there are any fans of "No Man is an Island", then head on over to OverClocked Remix & download a newer version. This one, created with the help of Big Giant Circles. Give him a visit, & maybe an add why not. It's a got a lot more electronica elements, as well as being remastered. So yeah, it's pretty awesome. So hit up OCR, click the link that says "No Man is an Island". Also if your a fan of game music &/or good music in general, give the rest of the tracks on the site a listen. There is something for anyones taste.

One more thing, I've got some new tracks, both finished & in the works, originals & remixes. So... be on the lookout for them music sounds!

 Or something like that.

So, I've been working on a hip hop instrumentals side project, & decided to post one of the tracks I'm working on, High Rise. It's there, but I'm gonna add in a bit more stuff. Very chill, laid back tone. Gots a acoustic guitar, epiano arp, as well as a cool little drum groove. I digs it.

In other news, I'm still working on that album I've mentioned before, though, the tracks are coming slow, but they'll be all kinds of hardcore. Also, I entered the Celldweller remix contest a few days ago, go there & listen to it,  by clicking here. It's in the listen section, under my name. It's of his song, Frozen. So, hope you enjoy that as well! Later lates.

Nope, not a one. And if you think you are... then can I build a beach resort on you? Wether or not you agree to the resort, I hope you can enjoy this dark epic rock track by not only me, but also LuIzA. Drop by her page & give her stuff a listen!

Now, about the mix. This one's a bit different than what I usually release here, for 2 big reasons. The first being it's a video game remix, the second is it's Rock lml! I did the programming, drums, & orchestration, while Luiza did the lead & rythm guitars, guitar fx, as well as the electric bass. I really do love this song, & i hope you do too. I'll get back to you about that resort.

P.S. Here's the poem that partly inspired the mix, as well as the name

"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated...As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come: so this bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by this sickness....No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee." - John Donne

Or do they just use a better matress? The world will probably never know, but, I think they just power down or something. We can wax philosophical all night long... all night, but I'll just introduce my new track,

"LoFi Attitude (Electric Sheep Mix)"

As the name suggests, it's inspired by the short story, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick, which is basically Blade Runner. It's a concept mix, centered around that... um, concept. I decided to use a lot of organic instruments, & contrast that shtuff with some ambient electronica. It's also got a really effected guitar strum, normal, & reverse-ified! Hope you like it, & hey, if you do, go get the full album. It's free... free I tell you! Good stuff!

Current mood:  rejuvenated

So, yes, I updated my page a few days ago. I like it, though html is a pain in the butt. Especially if you know little to none. Anyway, I just got back from a trip to Denver, CO. It's amazing the perspective you can gain when you leave your comfort zone, sometimes it can be the best thing in the world, even if, at the time, it seems like anything but. Retain the good, as the Good Book says.

Another thing you might notice... or not, is that Solar Flare is now available for download! Why you might ask, in my mind at least. Well, well, Silly rabbit, because I've officially joined a netlabel! It's called Reunion Studios, check them out here! Courtesy of Reunion, you can now d/l a 192kbps mp3 of Solar Flare, absolutely free! download

Black Licorice. While not a snack I particularly like, is what I decided to name the newest track; it's an inside joke to a friend that wanted me to make her a song, well, here it is! The song is a tad dark, & hopefully energetic, as well as awesome. Dark in that it's got an aggressive egde to it. Energetic in the way that makes you wanna friggin kill vampires, Wesley Snipes style! Awesome in that it crosses genres, as it's heavily influenced by rock, though, I opted to use synth guitars in place of real ones. Maybe down the road when I'm actually close to finishing the album, I'll see how real guitars sound, maybe not. Until then, I hope you enjoy this slightly experimental, high energy, totally rocking track!

Current mood:  hopeful

Well, work on me album is trodding along, at a steady pace. Other side projects have been coming up lately. So, I decided to upload a song that takes you to a... kinder, gentler, more sensitive & giving side of myself. Or not, maybe both?

Falling Leaf Forest (Remaster).  This is an older song which, you guessed it, is a remaster. I did this a while back for a competition. The goal of said compo was to make a serene magical forest track that wouldn't be out of place in a video game. I didn't win it, though, the song wasn't as good as it is now... back then. So, enjoy it! I'll post some more of my work in other genres whenever I get that Last.fm playlist thingy working on here.

In other news, I revamped my myspace, & I'll be revamping yet again! Very soon in fact... sometime in the future, maybe. Also, pretty soon I should have another song up. I've been remixing a track by SGX, my version is titled, "LoFi Attitude (Electric Sheep Mix)". It's a concept remix! So, be on the look out!

Current mood:  dorky

'Ey maing (been playing Scarface, great game). I uploaded a new song, Solar Flare.  It's a bit more trancey than the last 2 songs. I go so far as to say it is a trance track, of sorts. I originally made this song around a year ago, with the intention of submitting it as a track for a bemani game. I never got around to it. But I liked what I'd done, so I ended up extending it (& making it a whole lot better). So, hopefully you guys like it!

Also, I ended up getting a store at Cafepress. I only have 2 shirts available at the moment. Both are long sleeve tshirts featuring my Joker Smiley logo. Men's are black with a white logo, women's are white with a black logo, & "hardcore, like shellfish" on the back. So if you like the logo, get the shirts! I'll add more designs soon, maing.

Been a long day folks, long indeed. But alas, that's a tale for another day, & I have good news! I finally have a digital download.Yes. Digital Downloads. I got a cleaner, remastered, higher bitrate version of Crunched (Chemical Edit) available, for a $1. It's a digital download. That's right, "digital download." I'll leave a link at the end of this blog thing, whatever it's called. So, if you like my musics & want to support me, then pick a up a d/l, why not. If you like it, then by all means, tell a friend! I'll add more songs as they get finished, right now i'm tweaking Saffron a bit more.
