So somewhere between Tank Girl and Clerks I decided I had too much free time and needed to post my annual blog. I wish I was exaggerating about that span of time, but alas, fair bloggers, I am a slow poke.
I have been trying to keep busy lately setting up shows and I've got a great first couple of weeks of summer lined up for shows, so here go:

5/28/08: A few weeks back I traveled to good ole Swallow Hill for the open stage. I was feeling the blues a bit due to some work troubles and I think it helped my fingers walk. Anyhoo, they asked me back for their Best of Open Stage so now I get a sweet little 20 minute set as apposed to the 2 songer last time. I love the Cafe and the people so it should be a fun night.

5/31/08: Craig's List Saves: I spotted a blurb about a cool coffee shop called Java Groove in Evergreen and responded with a speedy geekness of a Magic player with the right card (I know nothing of Magic:the Gathering, so if my vernacular is off, a thousand apologies). So I scheduled one of their noontime slots on Saturday the 31st and am looking forward to singing Mountain Air higher than a mile.

6/1/08: The lovely and talented Jennifer Szabo shot me a notice about a show at Illegal Pete's on 16th st Mall. A Sunday show downtown sounds like a godsend and can't wait to lobby for some grub.

6/6/08: Just two years late for the sign of the beast. I can't wait for this one as I have participated in the Relay for Life back in the Flagstaff days. I'll be playing the main stage at the Aurora/Centennial Relay for Life at Eaglecrest High School from 9pm till 10ish. This is for a great cause and any donations or help would rock the Casbah.

6/8/08: PEOPLE'S FAIR:
So this is by far the biggest show yet. I'm still unsure as to if my big brotha will be able to accompany my on stage as I'mABoy has a show that same morning. I'll be on from 3:30 to 4pm and will be battling it out with my homies from the Hobo Nickels for lookers-on as they will be playing the Broadway stage from 3:30 to 4:15 (go check em out if you get the chance, pure metal badasses as far as Americana goes!). The, as well as all the other shows, is free and I would love to see some familiar faces in the crowd.

Thanks to everyone who has come out to the shows this year and I will keep you posted as to what the future holds. As for me, it's back to hangin with pups and livin it up. Peace

So, it's been a while since I violated the blogosphere with my super-terrific updates and I've had a crazy month. I've played more shows than I'm accustomed to but it has been a blast and I've met some awesome new people. So here's the timeline:

July 19th:
I had the pleasure to play at a silent auction held by my friend and co-worker Kate Schamu. She managed to get some great items for bid and raised $1,400 in the process! Lacy Nolte and I got to provide some atmosphere with the geeters and ended up having a great time. Check out Kate's blog at http://volunteercostarica.blogspot.com/ and read about her amazing campaign to raise money to send her off to Costa Rica for volunteer work.

August 14th:
Thanks to the help of Mike Ligon of Home Vibe Presents I got the opportunity to play at the Village Tavern next to Flatirons Mall. The grueling 3 hour set seemed to speed by with the entertainment of dancing babies and mall-going passers by. The sweetest part of the show though was the food afterwards. Definitely check out the village tavern if you want some killer pasta.

August 16th:
Thanks, again, to the help of Mike Ligon and the Home Vibe, I got to jump on the bill with Gregory Alan Isakov and Nathaniel from Born in the Flood. This was at the Lion's Lair on Colfax and needless to say it was interesting having an all-acoustic show at a legendary rock joint like the lair. Mike and his crew outfitted the bar with candles and high tables that made the place super chill. We had a great turnout, and although it was spelled wrong, my name was on the mini-marquee outside. My rockstar brother, Jim (frontman for I'm A Boy), and my soul-sista, Kristina, managed to bring some folks out and made it a great experience. A few college buddies managed to make it as well (thanks Erin and Keith).

August 25th:
With some seriously short notice I jumped on a gig opening for I'm A Boy at the 12 Volt in Arvada. Since the opening band ran into some trouble making it, by broseph invited me to warm up the crowd before he unleashed his hounds of rock and roll on them. I mixed it up a bit, pulling a Jeff Buckley and only playing with an electric Fender and no effects. It was cool and I got to play to an entirely different crowd than I'm used to (other than my Bro and my Pops). Unfortunately the belly dancing convention across the street robbed us of some rockin hippie guests, it was a cool evening for sure.

August 27th:
My big State Fair debut! So, since I grew up in Pueblo I probably went to the fair at least 100 times but haven't been back for about 8 years, so this was a blast. I got to play at the Pepsi Stage for a solid hour. Some familiar old faces made some cameos as well. Taryn Gitzen, whom I went to high school with was actually working within eyesight of the stage. I'm sure once she heard my voice she was requesting relocation, but it was cool to see her. Then, a bit into my first song, I noticed my old buddy Ryan and his girlfriend had come to watch. This was great considering Ryan and I were in a slew of bands together in high school. Altough my sound is a bit different now (any Hollowed Ground or Blindingly Clear diehards know what's up) it was cool to see him listening and occasionally mocking my missed chords. After the show, we walked around, saw some creepy old man with a shirt I want to buy, chilled in the Agg palace, and I headed off.

That's the skinny of what I've been up to and I just wanted to thanks everyone for coming out to the shows and also those who helped me book'em. We'll see what happens next but this month has been a workout, for sho. Thanks all.

Night has drawn in and that magical hour where normally random attacks of slumbering brain cells expose themselves in what is usually best utilized through poetry and song. But as a child of technology, I have chosen to forgo all real forms of expression and post a blog (no blogger hate is intended by that comment).

So I am surfing as many do and I realized that the 3 of my countless myspace friends who actually give a crap about blogs do not yet know that I recently got married. So I shall proceed to regail those said friends with my own paparazzi account of my nups:

That..s right folks, little Matt Nasi tied the knot amongst the resounding rumors of his settling down on September 16th to the beautiful and radiantly clothed Ashley Rawling. The picture perfect day took place in Thornton, Colorado with Matt looking sharp in a Tux along with Ashley adorned in a wedding dress fit for royalty, in the company of their closest friends (Top 20 Myspace Friends excluded, sorry) and relatives. The ceremony went off without a hitch, followed immediately by the most decadent non-booze serving reception on record. The wedding party and guests proceeded to dance the mid-afternoon away to the hits of probably the coolest DJ in the land (aside from playing ..Don..t Stop Believing.., which turned out to be the memorable moment of the bash as all of the former and current NAU students formed a swaying circle and sang atrociously). The cutting of the cake became a highlight as Ashley ninja punched Matt in the mouth with a hunk of sweet gourmet abuse. As the bride tossed her bouquet, the crowed oohed and aahhd as the lovely bridesmaid Jessica cought the omen (which was seen by the groom as unsportsman-like as she is already currently engaged). The garter was received by Matt..s amazingly intelligent cousin which was soon followed by Matt..s camera being fatally stepped on by the wedding photographer (coincidence or sabotage?). As the gathering ended, the couple retreated to Ashley..s grafitti..d car to drive among many angry drivers who persisted to honk at the innocent pair all the way home.

Well, there it is. Now you know it all in a catchy delivery.

So, of course, in my excessive amount of free time I started to think about what this lil thing called myspace has done to us. Some serious positives and negatives come to mind and I thought I would expound on them with this nifty tool called the Blog.

The New Breed of Addict:

I know Im not the only one who has broken their refresh button on their browser in the endless pursuit of updating their compulsion. I cant seem to stop the myspace itch from taking over. This thing gets you and especially for the musicians it is hard not to want to check and see how much of the world now knows who you are (if what we are is a reflection of our profile views, it makes me sad). But needless to say that I am guilty of this thought. Our need for the myspace fix seems to hit when we have checked it over and over without results and suddenly the magic words: New Friend Request, New Comments, or New Messages appear. Its like finding a likely linguistic new friend at a convention where no one speaks your language. Exposure, sweet exposure.

You Dont Really Know Me if you Havent Read My Blog!!!

There was a time when one would have to shell out mucho greenbacks on a series of dates or nights out in order to get to know people. And even then, you still wouldnt have gotten the kind of insight into a persons psyche that you get through the blog. Has this silly sounding compound word taken away our mystery? I know not everyone uses this tool but some who do (myself included) tend to put a little too much info about ourselves on here. Its like our proverbial floodgates have opened and all of the things we would never say pour out into our copy paste conscience on Microsoft Word. Is this the end of everyday interaction as we know itI think so.

Now for The Plus

After all of this reflection, I must say that this myspace thing is an amazing tool. People you may have never seen or heard from again seem to find you or are found by this miracle of superhighway speedsters. Musicians, actor, and artists of other kinds are finding their publics in a world that otherwise would have preferred them anonymous and struggling. I am truly thankful for the chance I have gotten to express my passions and in some cases my mindless rantings with you folk. But without a doubt..

My Name is Matt, and I am a Myspace Addict
Now all I need is the collective HI Matt.

Well, here it is folks!!! Step right up, or click right on to the fresh new jam.

Okay, enough with banter. New SONG time!!! This one's called Just Deserts. I was experiencing the time-honored tradition of the summertime blues. The song is just about things not quite going your way. Ironically enough, the day I finished the song I got a job and finalized my first house purchase. Just goes to show that bearing your soul does pay off. I sampled a drum beat from the Bill Withers jam "Kissing My Love" (how hip-hop of me). Stick with the song to the end...it's quite uplifting...lol. Enjoy and download the hell out of this one!!!

-Peace,

Well, back to the blog. According to recent research a lot of people look at these entries so I thought I would unburden my soul a bit despite the feathers I may ruffle. Being as I am in my final months of this thing called college I have noticed how sad the state of things has become. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not the craziest partier. Not that I have anything against gathering and exercising the right to chill, but I'm more often than not quite sober (contrary to one incrimination picture that was posted on my facebook, lol.) But I have become increasingly sickened by the number of "look at my lack of self-control" pictures people post of themselves online.
I have nothing against partying, but it seems that more and more people feel it is necessary to post picturesdare I say entire albums devoted to the soul purpose of showing how "just like everyone else in college" they can be. Just a tip to those who have taken this road, usually word of mouth about how you passed out on the stairs or threw up all over yourself is pretty comical, but when you celebrate it through JPEGS like it's your right of passage to look like an ass on the world wide web you are asking for trouble. Just ask athletes at a number of major universities who have recently been chastised because they were careless enough to post pics of themselves intoxicated while making it abundantly clear through their profiles that they were the pride of their athletics program. Being a former student-athlete, this one pissed me off the most.
My point for this blog isn't to show how cool the paint on the side of my soapbox is, but more to let people know that engines like Facebook and Myspace are not exactly isolated to the rest of the world. Nothing like your Mom or Dad running a search on Myspace to see how her star child is doing, only to find that their semesters of cash have translated into a champion "Beer-ponger" with a need to tell the world of their substance abuse poblems.
In summary, getting tagged with a drunk pic is inevitable, but shouting to the heavens of cyberspace, "I'm drunk!!" is freggin' sad.

Wow, have I dropped the ball, I haven't had a chance to hit the ole blog lately but I have had some sweet happenings. The day before Thanksgiving, in the company of my best friends, I asked my college companion, Ashley Rawling, to marry me. She said yes, thus making me quite happy. We will be moving back to Denver, Colorado come May of this year and make it our home for a long time (God Willing). Anyway, I wanted to let everyone on here know about the biggest day of my life (thus far). Thanks for listening to my cheesyness. -Matt

I'm peaceful at heart, so this is my attempt to get some issues out: In the face of great stupidity, Nashville native Eleisha Eagle rocked the Campus Coffee Bean in Flagstaff, AZ tonight. After a incredibly long drive from New Mexico, she arrived in the city of the clouds to find that she and myself had been double booked by the local venue. In the face of a cover artist and a up and coming string trio, she took the stage with only her shaken nerves to guide her. A half-hour was all that the booked artists allowed this up-and-comer, but that was all she needed. She played a set that can only be regarded as top-shelf in a town where acoustic (piano included) anything on a bill usually means no crowd. But tonight the crowd, chatty to say the least, but heavy in numbers heard a serious musician who lept over the expectations of this artist's idea of good groove and worked out her frustrations on that bohemeth of a keyboard she had. Eleisha, I'd love to jam with you anytime you dig. -Matt ps-Flagstaff is actually lovely when you get past the Bean.

So, I'm sitting on my porch this passed Saturday and it hits me...it's 60 damn degrees in December in Flagstaff, Arizona!!! What the hell is that all about? We should be sledding right about now, not lounging in comfy (sp?) shorts. Some may not know, but Flag is at 7,000 ft and if we can't get snow we're all doomed. Well, in my frustration I wrote a song that's half Bing Crosby and half pissed off little boy ("Tire Slide"). Anyways, Check it out and hopefully this will summon the Gods of Champaign Powder to smile upon us once again. -Matt
