goddamn, 4 songs in 2 months, I'm ON FIRE! Anyway, just as the title says, this is a remade version of my DoD RPG month month entry back in 2006. Why you ask? Today, my answer is dunno.... But around mid-2007, I had a now-dead VGM album project in mind, I had selected a few tracks to cover but also decided to include two old ones, and these were Fire Cross and Shiny New Ferrari. I planned on actually selling it, so there was no sense making people pay for 2 songs they could download for free, so I decided to remake them since I'd gotten better production skills and equipment. Sometime later when my motivation was just as dead as the project, I ended up with a leadless Fire Cross remake, along with a whole bunch of other unfinished projects. So now that I'm back, I decided to just record those leads and release it, I had such a good time making the original Fire Cross, I figured it deserved it. Hope you dig. NOTE: To those wondering, not everything is re-recorded, especially not the gilgamesh arpeggio, cause I can't play that again for shit haha.

My, this has been by far the most productive couple of months in my life. 3 songs done! this time, it's my first OHC (One Hour Compo) gone full-fledged. I made this for OHC052, the theme was Nostalgia, and the first thing that came to mind, was the first soundtrack I ever bought, which was Chrono Cross. "Plain of Time ~ Homeworld" was one of the tracks that stood out to me right off the bat, and I hadn't even played the game yet! As for the style, well, this the most far off I've ever been from my usual style, but change is always good once in a while. I enjoy almost all kinds of music and decided to make something drastically different than my other work. Making this and fact it's my shortest remix, clocking 3:32, yet. The solos do sound a little sloppy, I made it a point to record only first take improvs, though I ended up redoing what was originally done for OHC. hope you dig.

yep, that's the name of my new track =)
This time, it's a Schala arrangement, which in my opinion is the most ingenius and celestial piece of music ever created in a game. with that said, despite the many fine remixes of this song, I don't think any has or ever will do it justice. Which of course begs the questions: Did I do it justice? Why did I even arrange it if it can't ever be done justice?
I'll tell you the story. This arrangement was born in a time where I had just gotten Chrono Trigger DS and was listening to a lot of Metalcore music... bands like It Dies Today, Darkest Hour and one my long time favorites (after SPAN and The Suicide Machines, of course) Evergreen Terrace... one day, when I was finally playing this awesome game again, something occured to me, how would Schala, this beautiful, celestial theme, sound like when done into a disgusting and demonic style like metalcore? That was quite a long time ago, though. Most of that time, I had pretty much shelved the project, as I still was struggling with lack of motivation and inspiration. It was only a month or so ago, when I took a short revitalizing trip to Miami, FL, on the flight back, I met a pretty interesting person and fellow video game nerd named Daniel, with whom I had a great conversation on the trip. He taught me "the 3 month rule", whenever you don..t know where to go with something, put it down for 3 months, then come back to it. The whole change of surroundings and that conversation alone pretty much inspired my to go back to making music. It was also during that time I started listening to Audioslave and fell totally in love with them, I even modded one of my guitars to with a killswitch because of them haha.
Anyway, I got home, and got down to work, even decided I'd enter DoD with it. it went pretty smoothly from then on. I decided to keep my original intent of only using the usual and minimal rock setting, guitars, bass and drums.... so yeah, even when it sounds like it isn't a guitar, it is haha (*coughmorellowannabecough*).
This song also differs from my other VGMixes as it isn't a fusion of a ridiculous amount of different musical styles, and is far heavier than anything I've done before. The biggest change however, is that there is no ska.... you read it right NO SKA. hell must be freezing over... if that'll be permanet, I don't know. but I'll certainly be exploring different types of music in my up coming works.
So, finally, I'd like to dedicate this track to Daniel and Florida. for finding my inspiration and returning it. Maybe I'll be doing a vocal version as well... hm..

12/04/09 jeebus... I wonder if no one checks this because I never update or if I never update because no one ever checks... Anyway, Ever since.. well, the last update, my HD died and as usual I have nothing done, both new and old. I've been listening to a lot of metalcore recently, so if I ever finish another song, it'll most likely be a lot heavier than my past work. Lately, however, the Summonings of Spirits project over at OCRemix.org has been realeased, I have a collab with fellow punk rocker CarboHydroM there called "Strike of the Devil's Axes", it's one of my better works, I'm really proud of it, not to mention it was a bitch to mix haha. Also, I recorded the wah guitar for Mythril Nazgul's "Ain't Yo' Fool (Stay Cool)". The whole project is worth listening, so go do it! On a different note, late last year, I joined yet another band, Aéreo, as their bassist. Right now, we're recording vocals for our debut full-length album which will be called "Avalanche", it'll be soon done. You can check out a song off of it at http://www.purevolume.com/aereomusic, it's well worth it! Despite playing bass, I'm honored to be playing with great musicians like them. As for Billiards, I still play with them. After many gigs, including one at ABC PRO HC and one half assed home recorded EP, we now have a new drummer and a more Post-Hardcore-ish outfit as opposed to our more Pop-Punk-ish begginings. We are currently looking for a new singer, after that we will be recording a few tracks and getting back to gigging and writing more songs.
26/03/08 Sup? It's been awhile. New song up, or rather an unfinished WIP. As for when it'll get done, I have no idea, I started it sometime in 2007, but eventually ran out of ideas and motivation. Lately I've been working on songs with my band mostly, which you can check out our myspace on my top friends, we're called Billiards (don't ask, it was named before I joined haha). We're currently in the studio recording an EP, so no tracks to listen tp yet. I'm quite proud of what we've done so far, I'll let you guys know when there're songs up.
14/09/07 Today the Final Fantasy 7: Voices of the Lifestream project was finally released! I have a track called 'Materia Junkie' (made about a year ago though), you can download it at http://ff7.ocremix.org or at ocremix.org, check it out! Also don't forget to have a listen to the rest of the project, it's full of great tracks by other fellow VG artists.
09/09/2007 As of june or so, I've been in a bit of a hiatus. I have a feeling it'll end pretty soon. But otherwise, I've been playing with a band, it doesn't have a name yet, but we should have some material in due time. I think it sounds pretty promising hehe...

hey! it's been awhile since I last updated here. there's hasn't been much going on musically for me lately for a number of reasons.
however today, I thought I'd post links to my other music that's online somewhere. My fiance is making me a site to keep all my music, but until he finishes, this is the only place I can keep my music. here're some links:
Dimensional Horizons (Chrono Trigger/Cross) - this was my entry for the Dec/2006 DoD, it placed 4th. Fire Cross (FF Series and Chrono Trigger) - this was my entry for the Dec-Jan/2005-2006 DoD, it placed 1st! and is now available on OCRemix.
for now, these are the only other songs I can think of that are online, and well, if you really care that much haha you can always contact me and I'll gladly send my other songs via msn or something. This blog is subject to update as I either upload or remember other songs out there.
