In the year 2010, the future has caught up with us. The next decade; the twenty ten’s, has a much more catchy ring to it than the noughties ever had, I am looking forward to see how it all plays out - sounds as if it may be a decade of some significance, not that the last one was without it’s moments. Earth shattering and heart wrenching world events, cultural shifts, new horizons and permanent farewells. But it is into tomorrow that we are all heading and it is there that we must make our home, as someone once said “the past is like a foreign country - they do things differently there” - the future; I guess, is ours to shape. Tell you the truth, up until now I haven’t really stopped to consider this end of decade thing. The simple end of another year is usually enough to keep me busy in reflection - so a little impossible to encapsulate a decade, these things work themselves out in my psyche naturally and I will probably have a better handle on ’the noughties’ by about 2013. But for now, let us embrace the positive, the little things, the things that make the working week a little more bearable - the records and the books, the films the people the ideas and the art. As I have grown up I have come to realise that those first and early instincts - those of a child; were pretty much the truth all along - that art is in nature and nature is art. Really, it is only by listening to music or looking at a painting that can unlock those feelings that come close to the deep awe that nature can inspire - that can literally make me speechless - take my breath way and make me feel like I could fly…I know you feel the same. A couple of things that have made me smile recently, the simple life affirming uncluttered ’Caught by the River’ web-site, go have a look. Also, my sombrero is tipped towards Beck and his rolling Record Club web based celebration of some of his favourite music - which just happens to be some of my favourite music. His latest Alexander ’Skip’ Spence classic ’Oar’ is delightfully covered up on Beck’s site at the moment. I think what both these two web-sites do is just push a little more beauty out into the world - and they don’t really want anything in return, just to turn you on…is enough. Cx

Dear Sable watchers dream catchers and optimists, tis' a while betwixt and between these correspondence I know, but ...alas we now have something to bring y'all. It ain't easy trying to make our music with a budget that could hardly buy you a good night out these days, I kid you not. We do persevere and push to get the most out of things and hopefully we have achieved. Thanks to the tireless work of sable man Gwyn and the patient mastering of Miles from Wonderful Sound our new LP is now complete. Was difficult to know where to begin in terms of what song to stick up first on our MySpace as no one song is typical of the whole - we recorded fourteen, 'Six Miles' was a good a place as any I guess.
The last month or so has purely evaporated and left very little time before Christmas to do anything useful with our bounty. So...we will be looking to release the LP early next year. There should be promo copies available before Christmas for our dear friends and family and we look forward to receiving your opinions. We will probably put a song or two for free download up on SablesWeb. Sables always wanted to do a full band live in the studio type joint, and there is no doubting that this record was only bought to life by Jen, Richard, Martin and Gwyn – the band. The Sables would also like to thank Alfie the saint, Nicole's soul kitchen, Sandy for luxurious cello and Martin and his trunk full o brass.
Now the dark evenings are once again upon us please drive safely, wear something bright at night and look after each other. Will be in touch. Love Cx.

Hail ye Itinerants, ye Travellers all , kings queens and fellow human beanz…where you from and where you been. Notes from the front line: Sables LP # 3 near completion and is truly in touch with the spirit of all things. Yes, we dug a deeper well and now surface blinking into the day light with fourteen new songs under our arms. We are currently preparing the songs for mastering with Miles from Wonderful Sound and should have the completed LP by the end of the month. Merci Cx

Had a call late last night from the organisers of the Ruway Festival, apparently there are a few tickets left - but they are selling out fast. If this weather keeps up it should be a blast, The Sables are taking to the stage at approx 7.30 on the Sunday. Anyone who would like to go but is worried about a ticket then please write to us here and we will do what we can. Yes, the Red Arrows are now confirmed to fly around like lunatics narrowly avoiding each other, how do they do that? I remember seeing the Red Arrows when I was 9 or 10, so that must make them all about 70 years old by now! Phew...see y'all Sunday Cx

Much saddened by the passing of ol' friend and ex musical cohort from way way back in the day, so long Mathew Watts ‘twas a pleasure [mostly]. On a lighter note and if you fancy the heat of the sun and roar of Jet engines we will be playing the Runway festival on the perimeters of Herne Airport, had to take Sable guitar man SRB3rd out to this neck of the woods a few months back when ACME beep! beep! failed to deliver his ebow. Found aircraft last seen in Top Trumps packs circa 1978 in various states of disassembly - including something very soviet looking - aeroflotsom and jetsam everywhere! surreal ain't the word. So if you like hangers, 747's,Yaks, MiGS, Mongols [NATO Code name: natch] cold war relics, machinery and even guitar music, this should be the place for you to come the weekend of 4th and 5th July. Tipped hat to Chris at Yaaard who has done this trans sable express of a mix of sable song 'After the Rain’, yes it is thirteen and a half minutes long and somehow reminds me of driving through Europe with alpine eyes and booty in the…uh boot, but that’s probably just me. Talkin of tipped headwear, if I had a sombrero [one of those large ones as favoured by Speedy Gonzales] it would go down low and grateful towards Gwyn from sables band who is as we speak doing very noble work on new sable LP. So we are in that Sargasso Sea period between ports, neither here nor there, but somewhere in the middle. Restless sorts, as we are, we will put out something very soon, I think our 27 fans deserve to hear Chris version of ATR, and I found a good picture of Nicole’s hand and ceramic heart and rose – make a good sleeve - so it shall be. New as in NEW recordings wont be around ‘til summers end and that may include the Indian one we tend to get each year nowadays thanks to plastic and barbed wire haribou in the ozonosphere and the pacific trash vortex. Big shout to Chloe the cat for producing three much smaller versions of herself with very little fuss or complaint - what a trooper. So goodbye for now, take care, look both ways, wear something bright at night and may your seeds flower grow tall and explode and all little fish find their way to clean and open waters. Cx

Richard Sanz has just returned from the desert looking bewildered, unshaven and slightly mythic, he was clutching a copy of Carlos Castaneda's 'The Teachings of Don Juan', The Monkees 'Head' and some super 8 footage that he field-edited into a short film titled 'Sunday Child', this he exclaimed, would explain just where he has been. Thanks as ever to Rich, he's an artist and he don't look back...
This short film is being shown now on SablesWeb and Sanzovision, so please go check it out.

Things afoot part two: the sables return to the studio again this weekend to record some songs for bhone and to continue to work on the new LP. We are recording as a band this time round', stealing studio time as and when we can. Thanks to those who downloaded our stuff from the web-site - 300 songs in the first week... The idea of the web-site is to have it as a rolling compendium of what we do - there are still a few more video's and a song or two be added but it's pretty complete. We really hope that we can add some new material as the summer unfurls. The band are sounding great and we are doing it live with no click or grid to hang to - we want to record quickly and do more. If you like certain songs on the freedownloaderollercoaster then please tell your friends and countrymen. cx
