The Person God Uses

"Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more kindness and forgiveness? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?"  —Romans 6:1-2

Sadly, there are many believers today who live with the misconception that they must do something to earn God's approval.

When they have had a good week and have been reading their Bibles or doing certain good deeds for the Lord, they feel that God will be pleased. But when they have had a hard week, when they have fallen, when they have sinned, they think God is not pleased with them.

Sometimes they believe they shouldn't even go to church or read the Bible. "Why bother?" they think. "God is not pleased with me. I don't have His favor. It would be hypocritical for me to do that."

Most of the Harvest Crusades team is back in California after the Triangle Harvest and we are still rejoicing over what God accomplished in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Just to recap, 41,500 people came to the RBC Center over the three days of the Triangle Harvest. Of that group, 2,471 people responded to the call of the Holy Spirit and made professions of faith during the event.

In addition, 12,966 people watched the live webcasts over the Internet.

It's so important as believers we continue every day to evaluate our spiritual walk. Sometimes that means being broken when we don't expect it. God always works for the best in ALL things, which can be often forgotten in times emotional turbulence. Remember we were made to praise God and love Him who has loved us first. His love is more than a emotion, feeling, or one time high. Do ALL things with His plan first, then ALL will fall in place. When we put His light before our lifestyles and sacrifice our wants, then we can grasp what he wants to do in our life. What has Satan got a hold of in your life? God knows whats done in secret, but it's your choice get it in check with him. Remove the sin and make a conscious effort to serve God on a daily basis. Put on the full armor of God.

Ephesians 6
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

We thougth it might be a interesting opportunity to use the friends space to uplift other members or those that visit  "Friends Of Greg Laurie". What we would like to try is everyone create a Christian themed picture or reference for your MySpace display and every two weeks or so we will display those most creative on our friends space.
Whatever ideas you have, as long as they are CHRISTIAN in nature. They can be funny or serious or any style you desire-just something uplifting to catch the browsing eye. Get creative and lift God to the highest with the talents he has given us all.
God Bless,
Friends Of Greg Laurie

I would like to ask everyone to be in prayer for Patrick Betters. He is suffering from cancer.

"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."

The Person God Uses

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
  Colossians 3:23

When I was 18 and a new Christian, I quickly came to understand where the phrase "starving artist" came from. All I knew how to do was draw cartoons, so I was doing that as well as some freelance graphics on the side. I was trying to make ends meet, but I wanted to be used by God. So I would hang around Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, waiting for an opportunity just to do something.

One day, one of the pastors said to me, "Greg, I need you to do something for the church."

I said, "What is it?" Preach the gospel to the ends of the Earth? Pray for the sick? I am ready.

"We need you to buy a doorknob."

"A doorknob?"

"Yes," he said. "We need you to go to Sears and buy a new doorknob for the church door."

It was a little job, but I was excited for the opportunity. I was on a mission from God to buy a doorknob. I went to Sears. There must have been 300 kinds of doorknobs in every size, shape, and finish. I finally bought one. I took it back to the church. I was so excited. It was the wrong size. But I tried.

Are you excited for any opportunity to serve the Lord, even if it is a little one? The issue is not big jobs or little jobs. It is that you are doing it for the Lord. Is just the fact that God would call on you and direct you enough in itself? Is it enough that God would want to use you? If so, then you are the kind of person God is looking for right now.

The Fact of the Resurrection

And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.
  1 Corinthians 15:14

Billy Graham tells the story of French philosopher Auguste Comte and Scottish essayist Thomas Carlyle. Comte told Carlyle that he was planning to start a new religion that would take the place of Christianity. It would have no mysteries; it would be as plain as the multiplication table.

"Very good," Carlyle said. "All you will need to do will be to speak as never a man spake [sic], and live as never a man lived, and be crucified, and rise again the third day, and get the world to believe that you are still alive. Then your religion will have a chance to get on."
